This song brought me such hope back when I felt trapped but was still too young to fly away. Ten years later, that cage is gone. Thanks Lindsey.

This video is entirely symbolic. The “cage” (the room) and its walls is actually the journey of life. As you can tell, she doesn’t escape from it just like we cannot escape from life’s constraints and problems. The violin lights the bulbs and candles, bringing with it warmth, light, and happiness into the dark and cold room. She never escapes but she finds joy within her cage and is content.
Whoever you are, I hope you find your violin in your cage.

I have believed that the candles and bulbs are us, her fans. Notice how her playing the violin gives us light to shine around us. Notice how we are still shining after the song ends. Even her violin shines. Yes...the Power of Lindsey!

I don't know about you, but the Lord is my violin I the cage, he gives me all of the light and happiness I will ever need in my life this song really expresses that. whatever our "violins" may be.

Wonderfully told, Ka. :) Yeh I realized I've found my violine (work, I really enjoy doing) like 2 years ago and my candle (representation for my husband) like... 10 years ago. I am trapped in a cage but at least I am no more alone.

"You can't take darkness out of a dark room, but you can fill it with light." ~ Lindsey Stirling
When the world plunges into darkness, Guardians come to Earth, people whose aura is indigo. They carry the overwhelming power of light, kindness and warmth to this world. Her smile kindles hearts, her music changes people for the better.
Each person has a guardian angel that protects him, and we do not know what form he can take. Today is an old man, tomorrow is a young girl. But do not let its appearance confuse you: an angel is fiercer than any dragon. But not in battle, but in attempts to reach out to us and remind who we really are. For only we ourselves have complete control over the world that we create around us.

This song inspired me to write a poem, hope everyone likes it 😊
    Doors that will not open
    Lights that will not light
    I will play my song
    Watch me shine so bright
The dark is just a canvas
A cage is just a room
Block the sun, turn on the night
And I'll dance by the light of the moon

  • @DoranGale
    @DoranGale 8 лет назад +1648

I don't want to be someone's sun; I want to be someone's moon, the small bit of light that remains with them when it's dark, comforts them, and lights their way. I want to be the song of their caged bird, and if I'm lucky, they will be the same for me.

    If I were a bird
I would glide to the sky
I would brush the wispy clouds as I fly by
And then I would dive through wind and breeze
And I would feel the earth as it lives and breathes
I’d slice through the air with fiery wings
And against the white sun I would begin to sing
And through the hush of the air my story would go
    Whispering secrets it would blow
Then the the rivers would gurgle and the trees would hiss
Of the dark swirling depths of my soul’s abyss
Gold eyes ablaze and bronze talons alight
To the sun I would soar as it sinks into night
And as my soul burns from it’s scorching heat
My freedom as a bird would be complete
To the Heavens I’d go to finish my song
    Melodies drifting all nightlong
And after I died everyone would know
Of the bird whose eyes would always glow
Who’s secrets were kept locked within
Her flamed wings never to be seen again

When I listen to this song, I can't help but think of someone trying to protect someone else that is hurt or in danger. When the music gets faster, that when the protected begins fighting, and when it slows back down, he/she goes and helps/tends to the victim.
Idk, it's just a weird thought of mine. XD

This made me cry. What a powerful wordless tale. WHEW! I can relate to this. Trapped in a cage & the only source of 'light' is what you create. You keep making music because it's the one little joy you can nurture into all of your happiness. It's kind of hard not to feel this way when the world can be such a dark place. Keep creating beauty, & the world will never run out! It's up to each of us to create our own light.

Lindsey, I have been having a very hard time lately. My marriage of 15 years has ended, I have 2 teenagers, one of which is adopted. Sometimes when I am at my wits end I will pull up your videos, and your musical style and the sound of your violin always brings me back. The way you seem to absolutely love to play. the fact of your cute little smile. Those things are what make you truly a treasure to this Earth. I just wanted you to know how you inspire some of your fans... and I am truly a fan.
How does someone get to collaborate with you? My daughter has an amazing talent with her vocals. She is the adopted one and is a very troubled youth with nothing but her aspiration to be an artist keeping her grounded to this world.

I see this video as the reflection of someone inner emotional state , the wall representing the barriers you set upon yourself but instead of searching to break them you have to find that "light" within yourself and once you find it you will forget about those walls and find your inner peace. Music is such an amazing thing , even more so in Miss Stirling hand.

When I first discovered Lindsey it was this song. And till this day I still break the repeat button constantly every single time it's recommended to me or pops up on replay. It's just such a beautiful song. But fun at the same time. And it has a beat you can fallow with. And for someone Autistic like me it has the right tempo and range of sounds that just calms me down. It's my go to song. Will always be my go too song. Not to down play the rest of Lindsey's work I listen to other tracks just as much. But this one tops em in my opinion. Love it.

i don't know i thought this one wanted to say "if you lost everything, you could still find your reason to be happy.."

      @ivanorange7630 7 лет назад +12

Leah Olson you're right! :) they are are extremely similar. However I would say the meaning to Song of the Caged Bird is making the most of your current situation. No matter how negative a situation is, you can always find even a bit of light. Shatter me on the other hand is more of breaking free from the constraints you may have formed around yourself or braking free from a situation and allowing yourself to find happiness and live again. That's just how I see it :]

Shatter Me seems to be about not realizing you want to break free until you've seen the better world outside.
Song of the Caged Bird seems to be about making your own light even when you're completely trapped in the dark.
They both seem to be about being trapped, but one wants to break free and the other learns to make the best out of any situation. They start similar but take the opposite path.

Gracias Lindsey ❤

Every single type of entertainment has this problem. When someone makes a unique TV show, movie or music it's exciting but when they do this unique entertainment for a long time it doesn't have that same Excitement. Because of this the creators will try something new but that something new is usually mainstream. Probably because this mainstream entertainment is new to them but of not to us. If creators stick with their unique style people will get tired after a while so they must try something new. You can't make everyone happy no matter what you do. Every entertainer dies out because of this cycle. Sorry for the long comment and grammar mistakes :P

As much as I agree (in a way), every artist develops and changes in their own way. I, personally, have thoroughly enjoyed Lindsey's work since the beginning and think the change in complexity and artistic expression is marvelous. For instance: "Mirage"- amazing piece! Absolutely mind-blowing because it is so different from Lindsey's previous work. Yeah, it's not the classics, but she still proudly performs her oldies because they are wonderful, y'know? Now, as a professional cellist, I understand that she may not be the best violinist in the world, but she is still definitely a trendsetter, and that's what made me a fan. I still think she's navigating nearly-uncharted waters but integrating things that a general audience can enjoy rather than the special niche audience that's followed her for years- which isn't totally a bad thing.
Sorry for the rant with twists and turns galore, but I thought I could maybe show a different point of view.

This song makes me think that she wants to be free, but doesn't know her purpose, so she looks for it. But she finds her talent and it can be found anywhere, even in a box. But when she discovers her violin, she's in awe. Then she played it, and
she found who she was truly meant to be and her whole life lights up. Literally.
This is one of my favorite songs because it's not only beautiful, it also taught me that sometimes I can't wait for my purpose to find me, I have to find it. And that's why I too play violin.
