  • Hey yall welcome back or thank you for viewing and checking out the channel here @JDub-Life.
This is a basic tutorial of how I finished this piece and how I displayed it. I hope you enjoy the video and my guidance. Keep in mind, there are many ways to display your work and this is just one of the ways I have done it. There is NO wrong way.
I use some basic techniques with sanding at various grits. Then applying Tung Oil, and the process of mounting the driftwood art upright...which by the way, I had never done before.
I am trying to demonstarte different techniques and hopefully inspire or reassure viewers that finding a hobby or a method to create art is SO IMPORTANT in finding and creating balance in your busy life.
It's hard for me to share my artwork and has been for all my adult life. Sharing on you tube has been a real uplifting release in a weird way.
You can DO THIS!! I also found that since I started working more with Wood and sharing my hobby through RUclips that my anxiety levels as well as what I now recognizes depression although I thought it was boarded is beginning to lift it’s me un reignited passion, and created social interaction that honestly, since Covid has been a struggle.
in trying to research a little bit about how hobbies can influence and help a person work through difficult times I came across a TED talk and thought I would share the link below. I’m not affiliated with any of this, but it really struck a cord.

That is a pretty cool piece of driftwood and I like all the details and color you choose.
I collected a bag of small driftwood pieces several years ago…I just found it … been looking for a while; it was in the grandkids toy box out in the shop😂
Did a dragonfly but it’s not attached yet …just layed out on the floor. I have a Deodra tree that drops beautiful rose pine cones in the spring. They look like wooden roses. I have been playing with those on various driftwood pieces….loving the natural look! I also have a sweet gum ball tree and have been playing with the little round star cones…. Both these trees are messy trees…I used to hate them but I’ve learned to embrace them.
    TYFS!

@tinaknutsen becky, so much for checking out the channel and my videos means a lot. It’s amazing how we hold onto things and don’t know the purpose and then eventually it hits us and we become very inspired and creative. I had to look up the name of that tree you’ve mentioned DEODAR? Is that in the Carolinas? I looked on Google it’s a really beautiful tree so I’m trying to imagine the pinecone Jimmy that sounds really cool if you ever get around to finishing it or somewhere in the process, shoot me over a picture. I’d love to see it, have a great day

Hey Jenny!! Thank you so much. As far as the finish it depends on the wood, what your final product is, and just what you prefer! I have a few videos about types of finish on the channel. Take care!!
