How to Revive Your Outdoor Space: Wood Patio Furniture Restoration
Wondering if anyone else noticed the face in the wood before he used the grinder?
hey Ken thanks for watching!! I have to admit when I am working on pieces I see so many things!! Sometimes I capitalize on it and other times I just keep working through it. Thanks again!!
Excited for the next one JDUB!
Oh you know it!!
Beautiful work Like the music on time lapse
Thank you for checking out my stuff!! I appreciate the feedback as well...I keep trucking along!! Cheers
You mest it up carving on it to much
Ya this one was weird with all try he holes... I like how it turned out though. Thanks for watching and the feedback.
You keep on their want be know, bored, left
Lol. Yep... this was really tough one. I learned a lot from this one
Nice job! I am actually in Driftwood, TX. Is this your standard juniper/cedar that triggers allergies? I want to try it and I have some! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks for checking out my stuff!! Yeppers.. good old cedar....hack away!! 😂
Hi. Do you need to bleach wood before working on it?
no, you do not have to use bleach. And depending on how you’re going to use the piece such as hanging it on the wall versus putting it in an aquarium there are several methods that you can use deluded dish soap, hot water, scrubbing it, or diluted bleach solution. You just need to make sure it’s completely dry so set it out in the sun after you’ve done it and if you’re putting it in an aquarium from what I understand, you have to be really careful about the fumes and chemicals
@@JDUB-Woodworks Many thanks for reply. Ideas are mainly for free standing sculptures
of course
Good job sir from India
Thank you from Texas!!
Gorgeous! 😮🎉 True piece of art!….and actually, it reminds me a manta fish 😉
Good morning from Texas!! Thanks Brother. Ya I see the ray as well.
😮 you are a true artist my friend. Beautiful work, as always. 🧡✌️
Thank you mi Amiga!!
Love that piece! I vote tone the music down unless it’s late 70’s 80’s classic Rock 🤣 Love ya JDUB..
Lol!! Ya well copyright issues are tough to get around but I hear ya!! Need my son to record stuff for me next time. Thank you!!
Do you have a wood lathe? I would turn a bowl in the middle of that piece. It is beautiful piece.
Hey Robert...thanks for watching. Yes I have a lathe and I am educating myself on how to use it safely. I have done some small stuff and hope to get into bowls one day. Cheers sir!!
Holy moly that looks amazing!!!
Thanks, it was a fun one to make!
How have you guys been?
JDUB - THANK YOU! This piece is amazing and I loved watching this video. I am fascinated by how smooth the finished piece feels...it is just like glass. The colors of the grain are just beautiful! It was fantastic to meet you and your wife and I appreciate the tour of your shop. I will proudly be hanging this piece in my shop. Thank you for giving me this experience!
Absolutely Brother!! Glad this piece will be in great hands!! Stay in touch!
I was blown away by how smooth it was too! Super cool piece
@ yes me too!! You just never know!!
My favorite part of carving is the silky, smoothness of final project!!! In my book, your description of how it 'feels' means success❣️
@@yvettewatson5822your words mean everything to me!! Thank you so much!!
Oh yes, now it’s really pretty with that. Sprinkle in it right on.
I had so much fun with this one!! Thank you
Oh yes, now it’s really pretty with that. Sprinkle in it right on.
So gorgeous!!! Love it!
I built my kitchen island Redwood with a turquoise river flowing through it. It’s 9 feet long 3 1/2 feet wide.
Oh I'll bet you are proud of that one!!
Resin is chemistry, so it’s very important that you follow the instructions to the letter. Your measurements must be right temperatures, moisture content, and humidity curing time depth all that.
Absolutely!! You are right...the resin is one of the things that I am constantly learning...so many variables.
Why the resin first? I get why you used it; but why apply it before the oil? If your answer is sanding...okay, but I would question it and shrug because--there's a lot of sanding no matter... Anyhow, cool piece. I dig it. I have some pieces you may be interested in checking out too. Cheers
Yep... sanding...plus I never know where the resin is going to leak...thanks for checking out my stuff....shoot me a pic of you work to my email
What’s the temperature of the wood and what’s the moisture content of the wood moisture is detrimental to epoxy and screw your epoxy up every time
Ya I know....I really want to learn all the variables! 🙏
Yes, it does look like a turtle some sort of small sea turtle to get you some googly eyes and put it on it
😂
In one position, it looks like a baby elephant face and another position. It kind of looks like a stingray.
I did see the stingray!!
In one position, it looks like a baby elephant face and another position. It kind of looks like a stingray.
I immediately saw the stingray as well...
Mount a helmet to it and you could wear it
Battle ready!!

Hi you two!
@ hope you had a supadupa Christmas🙂
We did and looking forward to the New Year!!
Beautiful! Love it 🔥🔥🔥✌️
Thank you so much! Merry Christmas
So I just got home from visiting my brother who lives on the coast. When he moved there almost a year ago I had told him to collect any driftwood he found while walking on the beach. First thing he said when I got to his house is "I got some driftwood for you" I was searching for finishes for driftwood and stumbled your video. Needless to say, WOW!. I am truly inspired! Gonna try and make something nice out of the driftwood he gave me and gift them back to him for his new house.
thank you so much for your kind words!!! I think you brother will be blown away from your work and your love. What a great gift. I love creating art pieces for others...it really brings me joy. Take care and please share the final product with me. Cheers JDUB
This is a great video and a great explanation. Of all three sealers, are they safe to use with a lightbulb? I wanna try making a lamp out of driftwood and if the light gets too hot, is there any danger?
thanks for checking out the video and the channel. I have used all of these products on Driftwood lamps and a Driftwood chandelier I made. I typically use Edison bulbs and they seem to burn a lot less hot but either way I’ve never had an issue with any of these products in regards to heat. I would recommend using a pure tongue oil versus the minwax...the minwax has chemicals in it where as pure Tung oil does not...try walrus brand Tung oil..it's awesome and I also use that on a lot of projects.
thank you!
Of course
You bet
I’d love piece for my Christmas present
Ok momma
Wow; goodd work; ur special my son
Thank you my love
Every time I sand a piece of wood, I think of you. You are the sanding king, my brother . Beautiful art ! Keep on being you ! 🧡✌️
Thank you, you are a true artist as well!
Just a warning. Raw linseed oil can become rancid over time Recommended not telling people to put food in it. Beeswax or mineral oil would be a safer bet. Edit: try warming up a little bit of the beeswax so the wood soaks it up easier and can protect it for a longer period of time. Also shellac is completely natural and food safe. Many of the shiny coatings on some candies is made from shellac. If you buy the wax free shellac chips, You can mix it with denatured alcohol and won't have to worry about the shelf life of the pre-mixed versions.
Edit addition. Try warming up the beeswax before putting it on the wood. It'll help the wood soak up the wax and protect it for a longer period of time. Also, fresh shellac is completely natural and food safe. Many of the shiny varnishes on candy (M&Ms for example) are shellac.
Great feedback and thanks for watching!! That is what I enjoy about my channel...I learn as much as I share with others!! Cheers sir!
Yessssssss!!!!!!!!🧡✌️
Cheers
Love you brother and Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you too!
Merry Christmas! GenX rules!
You got that right!
Smaller pieces you could keep natural and put them in a pot with a vining plant either an indoor or outdoor plant
Hey Brad! Thanks for watching and YES I do that as well...brings me peace! Cheers Brother
What sander would you recommend to a beginner? (Small)
Hi Heather!! Thanks for watching!! Not sure where you are located but any orbital sander will work... Skil or Craftsman make some great low budget ($30) will be great...I would start there...once you get the feel you can figure out if you want to upgrade!! Cheers !!
I absolutely love this idea ❤
Thank you! It was a great day!
I have enjoyed your videos and just about to finish my first piece. I'm still not sure if it will end up in living room or the burn pile! But ...I have had fun.
Your vision is all that matters!! Take care!!
hello and nice
Love you brother
@@JDUB-Woodworks Back at yah
Well done 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you! 😃
Wow! Very nice! The finishing is great! Wonder which tool did you use with the drill, after the grinder and before the sander?
It's a small grinder attachment for a drill
She’s adorable and growing fast John!
Indeed she is..
Do you need to do anything to maybe get small critters out?
Lol! Great question. usually by the time I have got down to sanding most of them have got out if there’s ants on the wood I’ll sprinkle it with seven dust before I start the project. Sometimes I sing slightly off tune, and that usually does the trick.!!!!
This thumbnail is so good definitely my favorite so far
Mine too
Good morning 🌅, Dub , that was a great day with the community retirement centre, they must’ve enjoyed that, and you too, from France
yeah, good morning to you as well and yes, it was a great time. Very fulfilling.
Thanks for sharing! I felt like I was there! It is really a beautiful coast, it gives a feeling of peace….and being so huge I just can imagine how many different kinds of wood you can find! In my area, in the Mediterranean sea, there is less choice😂 Hope to be there one day! Stefano
Cheers
Great video & idea from a great soul! I think it reflects your soul!❤
