At the end of that second run, in manual mode, does the transmission always upshift to the next gear instead of bouncing off the rev limiter like it did here? I'm asking because that's one feature I love about my '15 Q50's 7-speed trans. In manual mode, it will not upshift or downshift on it's own unless you do it. It will only downshift into first gear while in manual mode if you're coming to a full stop in 3rd gear or above. Even then it waits until the last second to auto downshift. I want to buy a fully loaded 2018-2019 540i xdrive, so I'm curious about how the 8 speed trans acts in manual mode. I will test drive one soon, but it may not be for a month or two. I'm saving for s higher downpayment, and if I test drive one, I'll probably buy it lol. Sorry for the long comnent... Thanks if you answer.
I had 2016 M140i with ZF auto. So should be the same. In manual it doesn’t upshift for you. It will downshift to avoid a stall I believe, but will happily bounce on the limiter. My friend has Audi S5 with ZF box and his will always upshift by itself regardless of what he does - so I assume it’s a software thing but BMW let you bounce away
Oh no it won't upshift, This car has xHP stage 3 trans tune as well so you can also set the gears to shift up or downshift at whatever rpm you want if you were in S mode for transmission

@@taransingh4153 it’s actually my cousins car he found the exhaust locally from some forums. Some guy had it but he ended up selling the car so it was pretty much new never installed.

The rear diff is from eBay, it's called G30 3d diffuser, wraps around the exhaust but I'd recommend getting m5 diffuser
