    I think it will probably be that the first motherboards supporting PCIe 5.0 will do it the same way they did when PCI was first introduced. The first motherboards had one or two PCI slots and the rest were all ISA. As more PCI devices became available the number of ISA slots decreased while the number of PCI slots increased. I can see where the new motherboards supporting PCIe 5.0 will probably have one or two 5.0 slots and the rest being 4.0.

    00:49 - Actually, USB is also located on the motherboard. If you have a laptop or desktop PC, usually there will be a cable running from the USB jumper pins to the USB socket on the laptop or desktop case.

    They have gen 6 and 7 but pcie is obsolete since 2005 how long will we keep using this standard untill something else changes its like intel amd and nvida don't wanna move away from sand aka silicone they are just money grabbing trying to squeeze the power out of a obsolete substrate and a obsolete pcie standard
    When will these company's change there substrate and change the pcie slot for a different slot that's not pcie something that is faster and may require a board redesign to support the new slot

    Just like DDR5, PCIe 5.0 won't matter for the mainstream untill a few years after it's release, which would probably be at around 2024 or 2025.

      He answered it in video. PCIe is backwards and forwards compatible. So any PCIe video card can be used in any PCIe slot as long as the physical slot is long enough to fit the card. Also, slot has to be enabled. Some MBs disable slots when others get used. Data speed will be at whichever is lowest.

      @@davewills6121 Sure, if you are already running a decent rig, then there is no need to upgrade just because of the new GPU. And keeping a 4000 series is also no problem for next gen, because its always downwards compatible.

      I dont think so. The law of diminishing returns applies here. We already cant saturate 4.0 lanes. Now we double the speed with 5.0. Thats like comparing light speed to 2x light speed. Great. I can load Dayz in 1.62 seconds instead of the slow 1.94 seconds with 4.0

    Pcie 5 will matter on high end gpus for gaming if not on 4000 series then maybe the next gen in 2024 to 2026 all gpus will become pcie 5. only with AI core acceleration it eats alot of bandwidth

    • @AaronShenghao
      @AaronShenghao Год назад +2

      There is not much difference between 3.0 and 4.0 on the RTX3080s so, not likely 5.0 will have any meaningful impact anytime soon.

      Pcie 5.0 should never of happened until we get 5.0 supported hardware
      Right now pcie gen 5 ddr5
      CPU check ✔️
      Nvme super speed supported drives ✔️
      DDR 5 ✔️
      PCIE 5.0 GPU can't really check it
      4090 might utilise it but its not a proper 5.0 gpu

    • @jonathanoxlade4252
      @jonathanoxlade4252 10 месяцев назад

      That's the problem with pcie 5.0 it should of come when gpus get pcie 5.0 now the gen 5 pc hardware feels half assed because of the lack off gpu that supports it

    • @jonathanoxlade4252
      @jonathanoxlade4252 10 месяцев назад

      Apparently the 4090 barely maximises the pcie 3.0 lanes so why the fuck are we getting a pcie gen 5 when the 4090 is barely using half its bandwidth I say we'll pcie gen 5 gpus will be backwards it may run at gem 4.0 speeds but even then 5090 is gonna be barely saturate pcie 4.0
