I have been so impressed by the accuracy of Ukrainian artillery fire throughout this war. The night vision / thermal vision shots of the rounds of artillery streaming down like rain onto the tanks here was truly impressive, and utterly terrifying.

I said the same thing on a sperate video a couple days ago. They have shown a very high level of skill with the artillery during this war. Even with a drone spotting for them it's still extremely impressive.
@@yobb89 no they aren't smart guided. They are just using drones to spot and setting up pre set kill zones. But even with doing it that way, usually the first shot misses causing them to be readjust. But most of the videos I've seen they aren't missing the first shot. Which is really impressive.

According to the latest data (including from official sources), the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the Moskva missile cruiser, was hit by two Ukrainian Neptune missiles. After that, a fire started on the ship with detonation of ammunition. Turkey said the ship sank. At the moment, we are waiting for confirmation of this information from the Russian side. But even if it did not sink, the Moskva cruiser is now out of action for a long time. And this must be understood, minus 16 launchers of ship-based cruise missiles.
Russian side confirmed it. No big ships like that any more in that region. The method for taking down the ship is quite brilliant. They distracted the radar with a drone and fired a decoy missile and hid a 2nd missile behind it. The 2nd missile hit. Edit: sry i was misinformed. The drone distracted the radar and both missiles hit even though the ship has 6 ciws and 16 anti ship killing missiles. I guess they were busy sleeping at 2am

I was in the US ARMY Artillery many years ago. Basically, drones have replaced FO's (Forward Observers) whose job it was to call in the position of the enemy to the artillery (Fire Direction Control) that would tell the cannon cockers where to aim the cannons. Now, there is no need for an FO, you just use a drone.

Lesson that should have been learned from Desert Storm: armored land vehicles in open landscape with out air superiority are sitting ducks in a carnival shooting range. Since the roads don't move the locations on the road can easily be mapped for ranging.
I watched the news during Desert Storm and I remember whenever US had columns of tanks moving, there were always attack helicopters hovering above (to protect them?)... You don't see that here.

Unfortunately I don't believe it's possible. Putin is not the type of guy who will just accept failure on this magnitude. He knows by doing so it will humiliate him on the world stage and hurt Russia's world power ranking. He's not going to accept going from 2nd place down to 10th or 15th because he knows by doing so it will greatly diminish the cards he could play at the negotiation table, or more accurately the coercion table. Just look to what happened in Mariupol as an example. After almost 2 months of failing to take the city, Putin got frustrated and impatient enough to actually use chemical weapons a couple days ago. So imagine what he will do when the same thing happens on the scale of a country instead of just a city. He will absolutely resort to using tactical nukes to level those cities. I have zero doubt in my mind that that's exactly what he would do.

This is great shooting by Ukraine however the description said they were using grad missiles. These strikes seem too accurate for grad which are unguided. These strikes seem almost surgical and a high tech. Slava Ukraine.
If you look at 16 & 36 secs it shows they come up short & behind. So unguided is most likely what was used. They use drones to correct their firing positions which obviously makes the strikes more accurate vs doing it blindly.

The guided stuff was probably missiles. At the 1:40 mark that is artillery. Multiple craters, some direct hits. I was an Army Forward Observer. We are sending Ukraine 18 long range artillery howitzers, 40K of ammo and more importantly 10 counter battery radar units. The Ukrainians will be able to locate Russian howitzers and rocket launchers and send accurate fire to destroy them. The only way to a lasting peace for Ukraine is through victory. Glory to Ukraine!

A Russian armor column on a road is target practice for Ukrainian artillery. I often see on drone videos that a Russian armor column slides through a loction that has craters on both sides of the road from Ukrainian artillery having already ranged in their weapons. That is, lower tech guns and mortars were pre-ranged to be able to hit the road. This allows them to fire for effect later when a drone observes a desired target arriving. It is simple, low tech overall, cheap, and effective in both destroying the equipment as well as the personnel. We are talking WW One methodology that still works.
Yeah those spots are well chosen choke points that are pre sighted so once they are spotted its as simple as just firing..boom..click of up or down left right an fire a full salvo...BOOM

To me those look like the new drones supplied by the US. These drones are called switchblade and they have a camera which centers on its target after flying more than 60 miles. If these are the same switchblade missiles they have a warhead that is just as deadly as the javelin only it can be flown from a long way away.
@J Anda people seem to forget that Combined Arms (the only effective way to utilize tanks) exists. “Tank is obsolete! tank is obsolete!” The next generation of tanks aren’t going to have massive armor, they are going to be faster, less armored but more technological. Better FCS and optical systems that can detect a target and engage it quickly. No tank can survive new AntiTank weapons.

I was in the US ARMY Artillery many years ago. Basically, drones have replaced FO's (Forward Observers) whose job it was to call in the position of the enemy to the artillery (Fire Direction Control) that would tell the cannon cockers where to aim the cannons. Now, there is no need for an FO, you just use a drone.
That alone will save lives on the front line.

It's because you just see the hits. Just look everywhere in the video. You can see artillery hits everywhere on the ground. But after many shots you got your aim correctly.
Traditional indirect fire, certainly onto soft ground, will cause very little damage to a tank, or to a medium armoured AFV.

Lesson that should have been learned from Desert Storm: armored land vehicles in open landscape with out air superiority are sitting ducks in a carnival shooting range.
Since the roads don't move the locations on the road can easily be mapped for ranging.
I watched the news during Desert Storm and I remember whenever US had columns of tanks moving, there were always attack helicopters hovering above (to protect them?)... You don't see that here.

War is never good for both sides but one can sure see how technology has changed the battle field. Russians still mostly in the 19th century implementing a "throw everything you have strategy" hoping to over burden the opposition with volume (just keep going till they run out of bullets) and who cares how many of your soldiers die in the process just keep throwing them at the smaller force. Then there is Ukraine with the latest technology, making every bullet count type thinking, still loosing men but not so many needed on the battle field with drones doing the heavy lifting and up in the sky away from most of the ground dangers. Unfortunately I don't believe it's possible. Putin is not the type of guy who will just accept failure on this magnitude. He knows by doing so it will humiliate him on the world stage and hurt Russia's world power ranking. He's not going to accept going from 2nd place down to 10th or 15th because he knows by doing so it will greatly diminish the cards he could play at the negotiation table, or more accurately the coercion table. Just look to what happened in Mariupol as an example. After almost 2 months of failing to take the city, Putin got frustrated and impatient enough to actually use chemical weapons a couple days ago. So imagine what he will do when the same thing happens on the scale of a country instead of just a city. He will absolutely resort to using tactical nukes to level those cities. I have zero doubt in my mind that that's exactly what he would do.

This is great shooting by Ukraine however the description said they were using grad missiles. These strikes seem too accurate for grad which are unguided. These strikes seem almost surgical and a high tech. Slava Ukraine.
If you look at 16 & 36 secs it shows they come up short & behind. So unguided is most likely what was used. They use drones to correct their firing positions which obviously makes the strikes more accurate vs doing it blindly.

The guided stuff was probably missiles. At the 1:40 mark that is artillery. Multiple craters, some direct hits. I was an Army Forward Observer. We are sending Ukraine 18 long range artillery howitzers, 40K of ammo and more importantly 10 counter battery radar units. The Ukrainians will be able to locate Russian howitzers and rocket launchers and send accurate fire to destroy them. The only way to a lasting peace for Ukraine is through victory. Glory to Ukraine!

A Russian armor column on a road is target practice for Ukrainian artillery. I often see on drone videos that a Russian armor column slides through a loction that has craters on both sides of the road from Ukrainian artillery having already ranged in their weapons. That is, lower tech guns and mortars were pre-ranged to be able to hit the road. This allows them to fire for effect later when a drone observes a desired target arriving. It is simple, low tech overall, cheap, and effective in both destroying the equipment as well as the personnel. We are talking WW One methodology that still works.

To me those look like the new drones supplied by the US. These drones are called switchblade and they have a camera which centers on its target after flying more than 60 miles. If these are the same switchblade missiles they have a warhead that is just as deadly as the javelin only it can be flown from a long way away.

The next generation of tanks aren’t going to have massive armor, they are going to be faster, less armored but more technological.
Better FCS and optical systems that can detect a target and engage it quickly. No tank can survive new AntiTank weapons.
As the others say, if the Russians were doing basic combined arms this wouldn't be an issue. They have no effective air cover at all. The Red Army knew this well 80 years ago
