Lancaster City Fire 500 block North Plum St. March 13, 2023

Lancaster City firefighters, along with numerous mutual aid units from Lancaster County, battled a stubborn row house fire on North Plum Street on the east side of the city. The initial alarm came in around 5:45 PM. Most of the homes had previously been condemned by the city for structural issues from a sinkhole degrading the foundation. The fire was well advanced upon arrival, and numerous master streams and exterior handlines and ground monitors were used to extinguish the flames. Due to the open attic construction, the fire consumed the top floors and attic of most of the row of dilapidated homes. Aerial access was extremely limited due to overhead wires in front of the building.
