Oh my word. I built a new PC a year ago and got myself a new chair to go with it, well, today one of the slots the wheels go into in the base gave out and I was ready to buy a new chair. has two desk chairs that was giving me hell. I needed the metal base for a chair that had a plastic one that broke and the base of this one had a bad underplate. I tried for hours to get them off and I decided to search for the release and your video popped up. all and all ty for making this seem so easy.

You made it so easy for me, after wondering how to remove it. Thank you for your instruction, it was quick and easy to follow and brought about positive results.
Also for those of you that are trying to get the whole unit out, once you complete this step, to get the rod out youll need a hammer and to smack the base of the chair and it should pop out with enough force. Make sure to be holding it upside down as well

@@cengi yeah. Don't hit the rod itself, just the actual legs themselves. With some gentle taps it should eventually come off

Does not work, the piston is still stuck on the bottom of the seat and the gas container is stuck to the base too. This did nothing but waste my time taking the two pieces apart. I need the whole thing taken out.

Thank you for this! As others stated, the mallet and wrench method didn't work for me either. I, however, did not have those ball bearings in between the cylinder. I also would like to remove the cylinder from the seat. Any suggestions? Still can't seem to wrench it off.

Is it new? So basically you sitting on top of the chair and you press the handle and nothing is happening, right? Perhaps maybe there is locking pin 🧷 somewhere or something. Look if there is anything obstructing the movement.
Yes its new. I just bought it this week. The lever seems loose not attached to anything
