Absolutely CANNOT wait for the next song, Time. It's legitimately my favorite Pink Floyd song, and definitely in my top 3 songs of all time. The lyricism is pure genius, and the guitar solo in the song just rips your heart to shreds.
Yeh time and shine on you crazy diamond are my favourite floyd songs. Perfect mixture of blues, classic rock and prog/psychedelic rock. God damn masterpiece after masterpiece.
100% it is my 3rd all time favourite song but my 2 nd favourite song is also by pink floyd which I consider the best song by them , and it is ....... Echoes 😌😌🎵🎼
same here, song still freaks me out honestly and i almost always skip it when i'm listening to DSotM, but i have respect for it and it was cool to learn how it was made
A Jar of Nutella yeah, I agree with you completely on that one, it doesn’t really freak me out though, it’s just kind of boring compared to some of the other tracks like Money or Time.
The plane crashes? Hmmm. Why the running footsteps after? I have a counter-narrative to consider. I think he misses the plane, personally. How stressful! All the hustle and bustle and you still miss your mark. He ran out of Time, the perfect setup for leading into the next track.
The plane definitely crashes though. In concerts they used a metal bed frame on a wire above the crowd that slid down the wire into a large fire at the end
I've always thought the synth on this track sounds like helicopter blades beating the air. Gives me the image of searching helicopters overhead while on the run from the law. Fits well with the title.
Damn I didn’t know there was so much meaning in On The Run. I’ve always kind of taken it for granted when listening to DSOTM, thanks man. Also The Travel Sequence sounds sick where can I find it
Avan Roy Official Nah man, I'm pretty sure he was cursed to be immortal or some shit like that a few years ago, so they probably won't be meeting for a while
@@TAJMofficial no you don’t especially if you look at the lyrics. But out side of that if you keep looking you’ll begin to understand that nothing is filler. It’s all meant to be there, everything you hear has purpose.
I listened to this song for the first time high, it scared the living shit out of me. Made me so paranoid and anxious. So original. Only pink floyd could do that.
Really nice job, my only problem is that that one note from Any Colour You Like is played pretty much every time anything is shown. Other than that, it’s fantastic!
When you’re done with dark side of the moon, please do echoes. You do such a great job of dissecting Floyd’s music and echoes is one of my favorites. I’d love to hear what you have to say about it
I always saw the story of this song as someone literally on the run from the police, in this kind of abstract 80s tech noir setting, running through the city at night, ducking into alleyways and stuff...
Great essay on this track. I have always thought this track was of someone running through an airport to catch a plan that he was late for. He literally is running with every ounce of strength he has , only to reach the gate just as the plane is taking off. As he looks out of the terminal window, people are laughing at him for running like a madman only to just miss his flight. And as the laughter fades away the plan explodes in the air. He literally was running to catch his death and missed it by seconds.
Alan Parsons was amazing at introducing sounds we hear in everyday life and integrating it into his music, and i would highly recommend listening to his album Stereotomy
On the Run is the beginning of the Doppler effect. Everything that music is without words. And then the rest of the album is the "car" passing by, an examining commentary. Thank you Poly. Continue with the series. Beloved all over the world
I guess this song did its job well in inducing the same kind of anxiety and fear lol. My girlfriend and i were just about to take a nap, and i put on DSOTM. When this song came on she had a sort of panic attack
Waiting for your thoughts on Time & The Great Gig in the Sky! So stoked you decided to do this project - I remember the first time I heard this album I was glued in my seat as if I was struck by lightning after it ended. Thank you for your work!
I’d absolutely love a video on Supertramp, preferably on Crime Of The Century, I’ve always felt that they’re one of the most criminally underrated bands of all time COTC is a masterpiece as is Breakfast in America and Even in the quietest of moments but COTC has always been my favourite
In my opinion i think that the big explotion is just the mind breaking and the stress finally getting to you and you just snapping kinda like in one of my bad days how the music starting off kinda melacholic and a little relaxed until finally pink gets annoyed at the lady and then proceeding to have a massive breakdown
This project is the best I've ever seen! Spectacular! The problem is that I'm from Argentina and fortunately I speak English, but I know a lot of people who would love to see this but can't easily translate it into their head, you should put subtitles in Spanish so that the entire Spanish-speaking audience can see it!
In a little town in Bavaria called Oberammergau the Passion Play takes place every 10 years with also alot of music. Can you take a look into that one time?

The plane crashes? Hmmm. Why the running footsteps after? I have a counter-narrative to consider. I think he misses the plane, personally. How stressful! All the hustle and bustle and you still miss your mark. He ran out of Time, the perfect setup for leading into the next track.
For example if you watch the P.U.L.S.E. concert, there's a dummy plane crash between On the Run and Time.
I always assumed it was doctor's rushing him down the hall in the hospital on a bed with wheels
The plane definitely crashes though. In concerts they used a metal bed frame on a wire above the crowd that slid down the wire into a large fire at the end
@@doinitoutdoors184 Before the used a bed frame, they used an actual model plane.
I thought another possible counter narrative is that he / someone is running from his problems by theft idk maybe just me
I have been waiting for this! But Polyphonic, we NEED a video essay on Nick Mason's Drumming!! There are NONE. Like this if you do agree!
Nick Mason is my favorite drummer of all time, hard agree with this!
There are very few drummers with his feel for a song. Check out his book it’s awesome
His drumming on Animals is so on point. Every single fill he hits is exactly where and how intense it needs to be.
Would love to see a series like this on the wall
I would really like to see that, but Vivek Kumar does make a very good point.
I've always thought the synth on this track sounds like helicopter blades beating the air. Gives me the image of searching helicopters overhead while on the run from the law. Fits well with the title.
That's how I've always interpreted it as well

The ending plane crash gives me the shivers every time.
Especially the live version on _PULSE_ because the explosion is so sudden and crackly.

Cant wait for Time. Its my favorite song of all time lyrical and musically
Sinful Cats spitting straight facts
the way they toured and tuned the album before releasing it is just like what black country, new road are doing right now.
The ending of On the run sound like a plane passing by to me.
