*Synth goes bblblbllblblblblibilbiblbib*
Polyphonic: Oh shit, that's deep
Well, if there's an intended meaning, he can read into it all he wants, and there is an intended meaning, so your argument has no point.
DAISHORYUJIN 95 I think he was just making a joke dude
Cameron McGee I just think it's a somewhat weak attempt at comedy without a real basis.
@@daishoryujin95 these days gen z humor has to be like that for whatever reason idk.
@@FiendishFatty lmao what does this have to do with gen z?
Scared the shit out of me the first time I ever heard "On the Run". The unnatural sounds were so unnerving.
I've always had that feeling while listening to this song
Live for today, gone tomorrow, that's me
*HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA*
I first listened to this album on a bus while sleeping, then this came up, freaked me out, than it went silent and I went back to sleep.
20 seconds later:
🕰🕰🕰🧭🧭⏱⏱⏰⏰⏲⏰⏱🕰🧭⏲⏰⏱⏱⌛️⏲⏰⏱⏲⏲🕰⏱⏰⏱🧭🕰⏲⏰⏱
@@theeoddments960 I actually laughed
Still does lol
The plane crashes? Hmmm. Why the running footsteps after? I have a counter-narrative to consider. I think he misses the plane, personally. How stressful! All the hustle and bustle and you still miss your mark. He ran out of Time, the perfect setup for leading into the next track.
For example if you watch the P.U.L.S.E. concert, there's a dummy plane crash between On the Run and Time.
I always assumed it was doctor's rushing him down the hall in the hospital on a bed with wheels
The plane definitely crashes though. In concerts they used a metal bed frame on a wire above the crowd that slid down the wire into a large fire at the end
@@doinitoutdoors184 Before the used a bed frame, they used an actual model plane.
I thought another possible counter narrative is that he / someone is running from his problems by theft idk maybe just me
Absolutely CANNOT wait for the next song, Time. It's legitimately my favorite Pink Floyd song, and definitely in my top 3 songs of all time. The lyricism is pure genius, and the guitar solo in the song just rips your heart to shreds.
Yeh time and shine on you crazy diamond are my favourite floyd songs. Perfect mixture of blues, classic rock and prog/psychedelic rock. God damn masterpiece after masterpiece.
I always said time is the perfect song anybody and everybody loves it as long as they can get past the clocks that is lol
100% it is my 3rd all time favourite song but my 2 nd favourite song is also by pink floyd which I consider the best song by them , and it is .......
Echoes 😌😌🎵🎼
@@nisuraroneth2928 he did a video on it aswell
@@8raindamag354 ah yes thank you for reminding me of it. I actually watched it and it was amazing thank you 😊🙏❤
I’ll be honest, I’m not a massive fan of On The Run, but I enjoyed this explanation on its conception and how it was made.
same here, song still freaks me out honestly and i almost always skip it when i'm listening to DSotM, but i have respect for it and it was cool to learn how it was made
A Jar of Nutella yeah, I agree with you completely on that one, it doesn’t really freak me out though, it’s just kind of boring compared to some of the other tracks like Money or Time.
Dark Side of the Moon is one of the few LP's where I never skip tracks.
@@ajarofnutella YOU SKIP IT?!
ight imma headout
Wasn’t really a fan of it, but it fits as a perfect transition to Time
Would love to see a series like this on the wall
I would really like to see that, but Vivek Kumar does make a very good point.
I have been waiting for this! But Polyphonic, we NEED a video essay on Nick Mason's Drumming!! There are NONE. Like this if you do agree!
Nick Mason is my favorite drummer of all time, hard agree with this!
There are very few drummers with his feel for a song. Check out his book it’s awesome
His drumming on Animals is so on point. Every single fill he hits is exactly where and how intense it needs to be.
I've always thought the synth on this track sounds like helicopter blades beating the air. Gives me the image of searching helicopters overhead while on the run from the law. Fits well with the title.
That's how I've always interpreted it as well
YOU! YES YOU! STAND STILL LADDIE!
(THE HAPPIEST DAYS OF OUR LIFE INTENSIFIES)
Got a similar vibe from it too when first listening. Made me think of the canal levels in Half-Life 2 or Mirror's edge.
Dude the canal level with the hunter chopper was hard af
Damn I didn’t know there was so much meaning in On The Run. I’ve always kind of taken it for granted when listening to DSOTM, thanks man. Also The Travel Sequence sounds sick where can I find it
ruclips.net/video/u8OXGKWAesk/видео.html
Stuart Barker thanks man
"On the Run" is the very first psytrance track.
There’s no way it’s not at least a huge influence.
The ending plane crash gives me the shivers every time.
Especially the live version on _PULSE_ because the explosion is so sudden and crackly.
I always thought it was just atrain tube train noisiliy stopping
On The Run is so ahead of it’s time. It sounds like something from the original wipeout soundtrack
it is also ahead of the song time hahahaha
It's gotten to the point for me where I know I'll enjoy basically anything endorsed by Curiosity Stream. I might actually check it out lmao.
On the surface DSOTM is a good jam album but the more look into you realize every word, every note, every sound has message and purpose.
Fuckin masterpiece.
I don't think you need to look that deep to realize Dark Side of the Moon has a meaning
@@TAJMofficial no you don’t especially if you look at the lyrics. But out side of that if you keep looking you’ll begin to understand that nothing is filler. It’s all meant to be there, everything you hear has purpose.
@@beefymcskillet5601 There's barely any jamming on it lol
I always saw the story of this song as someone literally on the run from the police, in this kind of abstract 80s tech noir setting, running through the city at night, ducking into alleyways and stuff...
Thats cool af
Dude you are just insane, your channel is just pure perfect
Hi wade! Fucked death yet?
Avan Roy Official
Nah man, I'm pretty sure he was cursed to be immortal or some shit like that a few years ago, so they probably won't be meeting for a while
I listened to this song for the first time high, it scared the living shit out of me. Made me so paranoid and anxious. So original. Only pink floyd could do that.
When you’re done with dark side of the moon, please do echoes. You do such a great job of dissecting Floyd’s music and echoes is one of my favorites. I’d love to hear what you have to say about it
Darien Hayes yes
Really nice job, my only problem is that that one note from Any Colour You Like is played pretty much every time anything is shown. Other than that, it’s fantastic!
It's a great note, one of the best tracks on the lp imo
Ned Red head yeah I liked it too it just got annoying after being played every 30 seconds
The ending of On the run sound like a plane passing by to me.
That's the way I've always heard it as well.
I’ve always heard it as a plane crashing, not passing by.
Taking off
This is DEFINITELY one of the more interesting Pink Floyd songs
Cant wait for Time. Its my favorite song of all time lyrical and musically
Sinful Cats spitting straight facts
The fact this album still applies to modern life shows how well they created it
I'm really enjoying this series, I can't wait for the rest!
damn I'm really excited for time.
It's my favorite song of the album.
Got a new appreciation for a song I ignore on DSOTM. Really can’t wait for him to do Time and the Great Gig In The Sky
They're already out on Nebula, and they're very good
My favs one
They are REALLY GOOD!!! U should try to support Nebula
I just got done listening to the full album. Today’s it’s birthday.
Great essay on this track. I have always thought this track was of someone running through an airport to catch a plan that he was late for. He literally is running with every ounce of strength he has , only to reach the gate just as the plane is taking off. As he looks out of the terminal window, people are laughing at him for running like a madman only to just miss his flight. And as the laughter fades away the plan explodes in the air. He literally was running to catch his death and missed it by seconds.
Alan Parsons was amazing at introducing sounds we hear in everyday life and integrating it into his music, and i would highly recommend listening to his album Stereotomy
The playing stuff live to get it better, is a big Crimson thing.. also surprised you haven’t done an episode on them yet.
Giving me new appreciation for one of my (and many others') favorite albums. Go Polyphonic!
Love this project you’ve been doing. Can’t wait to see the rest.
Allan parsons alone is a legend with some great hits, He will prob come up again in the next one.
I must be really weird because On The Run is somehow calming to me.
It is to me, too. I used to put it on "repeat" and sort of zone out to it, focusing mostly on the sequencer part.
I have memories of listening to it on repeat on my ipod an an airplane while falling asleep
It gives me anxiety lol
Incredible once again. Can't wait for the next
Damn i've been waiting for this since you're first episode
Great vid as usual. Can't wait for the rest of the album
Great video!! Really can't wait for more, Big fan of this album, huge influence on me as a musician. Been really Loving this Channel, really good and informative stuff.
thank you keep them coming
Love the videos...keep em coming!
Please do more like this!
Your videos are so informational and awesome bro!! Love for Pink Floyd
Hey man, great videos. It's intriguing to see their audible secrets divulged, changing my perspective and ultimately giving me a more refined appreciation of their musical prowess. Keep up the good work!
Great analysis as always, thanks for putting these on RUclips as well
dude your videos are so good, your enthusiastic take on the different projects and captivating visuals
Finally! Can’t wait for part 3!
Your serie is just amazing. As you explained that the song creates anxiety i was feeling it at the same time. WOW
Can wait for the next one. Great job!
Absolutely brilliant!
Love the project. The analysis - very thoughtful and deep. Love it, thank you so much !
Great video as usual. Cant wait for your interpretation of Time. My favorite track from the album and one of the greatest tracks ever recorded.
I absolutely love your content! I would also love more videos on The Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin, especially their song No Quarter!
Time is one of my favorite songs from the Dark Side of the Moon album. Looking forward to the next video.
Holy cow, this is a great series. I can't wait for more!
Beautifully dissected once again
I absolutely LOVE this series!
I love this song! Instead of listening to a song, it's like you're listening to a scifi story!
Beautifully done. Kudos.
Thanks, you have a deep understanding of things, I like that
Amazing, amazing work!
Been waiting on this since the last one. Finally
I signed up for nebula and already watch everything you posted. Can't wait for the rest of the videos
Awesome vid. Keep up the good work.
I absolutely love this video series already. I love the videos and I love love love love this album. Best album ever created.
That original jam has some of the energy of Echoes, that driving feeling
On the Run is the beginning of the Doppler effect. Everything that music is without words. And then the rest of the album is the "car" passing by, an examining commentary. Thank you Poly. Continue with the series. Beloved all over the world
Waiting for your thoughts on Time & The Great Gig in the Sky! So stoked you decided to do this project - I remember the first time I heard this album I was glued in my seat as if I was struck by lightning after it ended. Thank you for your work!
This is one of my favorite songs in the album. It always just kicks me into gear.
Can’t wait for the next video. Time is one my all-time favorite songs overall, genres aside.
On the run is the most clear explanation of the trip by far any artists can create. This is the ultimate mastery , perfection from the band
You deserve for subs for the work you put in man.
No other song stresses me out like this one. It's so exhausting it's honestly amazing
Travel Sequence was a way coolers song that On The Run in my opinion, however, I think On The Run fits best on the album...
the way they toured and tuned the album before releasing it is just like what black country, new road are doing right now.
I feel like I should have paid for this, the quality is way about what youtube deserves, but I can afford to spend on curiosity stream right now.
I really hope that all these videos will be put into one once they’re all done. I’d love to watch this dissection in one sitting.
I think that the airport is a good setting for the stress too, it's a place where there's a lack of control over your direction, your schedule, whether you get the coronavirus or not, and even your life.
YES I LOVE THIS CHANNEL
Bravo Polyphonic bravo
Can't wait for the next 6 months
You're amazing
I guess this song did its job well in inducing the same kind of anxiety and fear lol. My girlfriend and i were just about to take a nap, and i put on DSOTM. When this song came on she had a sort of panic attack
This is my 2nd favorite song of all time. Wish I could find more songs like it, that’d be magical!
I’m too hyped for the next episode
I’m so glad this series is a thing
sooo great
I love this. I love you and the moment I can afford nebula I cannot wait to listen curiosity stream primarily! Your amazing and don't take my lack of free monitary radicals stop your Freight Train of brilliance!
I just happened to listen to this whole album today in class, how convenient
the travel sequence sounded goated
The track is great in QUAD!
How lucky I am to discover the dark side of the moon series two years after, I can watch it in one go
Cool intro. High quality stuff.
On the run literally makes me feel like I’m on the run 😂 it makes me so anxious
In my opinion i think that the big explotion is just the mind breaking and the stress finally getting to you and you just snapping kinda like in one of my bad days how the music starting off kinda melacholic and a little relaxed until finally pink gets annoyed at the lady and then proceeding to have a massive breakdown
My brother, who is a bigger Pink Floyd fan than I am, once described the last part of this piece as a late commuter desperately running through an airport, managing to barely catch his plane, only to die when the plane crashes. Since then, this track has been quite philosophical for me.
It reminds me of running through an empty airport with something chasing you.
I’d absolutely love a video on Supertramp, preferably on Crime Of The Century, I’ve always felt that they’re one of the most criminally underrated bands of all time COTC is a masterpiece as is Breakfast in America and Even in the quietest of moments but COTC has always been my favourite
I can't wait for when you cover The Great Gig In The Sky ❤️
I actually thought that the “On The Run” audio was a mental hospital with patients and doctors running through the halls and a lady talking through an intercom
11/10 for animation
This song was so ahead of its time.
I always wondered why I got so anxious and skipped when On the Run played. Now I know why.
This project is the best I've ever seen! Spectacular! The problem is that I'm from Argentina and fortunately I speak English, but I know a lot of people who would love to see this but can't easily translate it into their head, you should put subtitles in Spanish so that the entire Spanish-speaking audience can see it!
For a while, my favorite track on the album.
i love you Polyphonic
