I loved this film. This scene of butoh dance and Rudi's reuniting with his late wife had me tears. Beautiful cross-cultural insights about two countries which are still misunderstood. The actress who played Yu was extraordinary in her vulnerability and openness.
A great film. Love at its best. A balance act between loud fear and silent faith. You feel the magical sensitivity of Hokusai, one of the greatest painter ever.

This scene is so very intense, and still so sensitive. For me it felt like it wasnt even acted, but felt by the actors too. The strong expressions from the butoh, plus those facial expressions realy show e(motional)-motion.

Many of the scenes in Japan were filmed not too far away from where I live. This movie made me feel SO proud of my culture & heritage!
