- The full BBC highlights programme of the second day of this rain-affected NatWest Trophy Final, as Lancashire take on Derbyshire.
Notably, this was the BBC's final cricket programme in the summer of 1998, as you can hear from Tony Lewis' sign-off (although there were still some Cricket Focuses and one Gower's Cricket Monthly to come, so not quite the very end). At this point, the BBC knew that they would be showing the 1999 World Cup, but did not know that they would not be continuing as the ECB's principal broadcaster beyond that (with Channel 4 taking over midway through the 1999 summer).

Also worth noting that whilst this was the last county cricket programme on BBC as you say I’m pretty sure the BBC also televised the Sunday League match between Essex and Notts on the same day on Sunday Grandstand which would have been the last such game televised on the BBC. Essex had to win to keep the title alive into the final week but were dreadful. Lancashire then had to travel back to Old Trafford the very next day to play their re-arranged Sunday League match vs Hampshire and duly won to win the Sunday League title and therefore win their second trophy in as many days!

Much appreciate you uploading this. I really miss the days of the B&H Cup, NatWest Trophy and Sunday League on the BBC. I don't mind T20 but it's not the same as this was.
Do you have any other county cricket matches from this time period or from before? I'm planning to start uploading some stuff myself when I can things organised.
I remember Soul Limbo as the BBC Cricket theme and was twenty eight at this point. Tony Lewis took over from Peter West, who I also remember presenting when I was growing up. I am cricket mad!
Tony Lewis became the chief presenter for BBC Television cricket coverage when Peter West retired in September 1986.
I well remember Peter West as a commentator when I was growing up (he retired when I was sixteen). His autobiography is called Flannelled Fool and Muddied Oaf, which I bought and read the previous year! Tony Lewis I also remember well.
That last LB looked dead. As did one or two others.

Gary Cooper Really sorry, but I don’t have these. I don’t think that the 2000 B&H Cup had any terrestrial highlights (nor did the 1999 edition) but this might be my memory playing tricks.
@@madmusician91 Thanks anyway. I don't suppose you have or know anyone with the 1987 or 1988 Natwest Trophy Finals? I have never come across anyone who has them. Or any earlier round BBC televised match from the B&H/Natwest from the early 90s?
I believe MadMusician91 is right. BBC & Channel 4 had the live broadcast rights to the NatWest/C&G Trophy in the late '90s & early '00s, whereas Sky had the live rights to the B&H Cup & Channel 4 didn't show highlights of it from '99 to '02 when it was replaced with the Twenty/20 Cup in '03.

The only footage i've seen of the 2000 B&H final is on the "History of Cricket" DVD & the 2001 final on the "Story of the Benson & Hedges Cup" (1972-2002) VHS.
Also, the VHS magazine series, _Cover Point_ showed short highlights of both finals.
