Ooni wanted to confer on Tom ikimi the Akinrogun of yorubaland.
The Alaafin clearly stated in his later that ooni does not have such powers.
Both culturally, historically or even administratively.
On receiving the later the then Governor summoned an emergency meeting and stated clearly to the Ooni sijuade that "NEMO DAT QUOD NON HABET- no one gives what he does not posses" governor Adeyinka stopped the ceremony in order to avoid destruction of Yoruba tradition and culture ooni sijuade wanted to carry out!
So ooni could not go on.
And again after some years ooni sijuade tried it again on achieftancy title "maye of yorubaland" alaafin went to court. It became a litigation.
The court said and I quote "no ooni has the authority to give a chieftancy title that covers yorubaland. No cultural or historical evidence to such authority. But only the Alaafin can citing historical, cultural and administrative evidence and records before the court"
Maye of yorubaland was again changed to maye of ife.
The issue superiority was also a litigation. There is a court judgement on it.
This not about sentiments but facts.

You are not an historian. Check the peace accord written in 18century after the kiriji war. It is written thus "His imperial majesty Adeyemi King of yorubas"
