I'm really intrigued by this. Every other year we will raise feeder pigs for meat and they get our scraps. This year we still have chickens but goodness it's still a lot! This in-bed composting is really awesome!
    Thanks for the shout-out!!

I have Vegogarden raised beds. I love them. I have used used raised wooden beds for about 20 years. Last year I started using Vego. As my wooden beds need to be replaced I am replacing them with Vego. I am so glad I bought some last year.

My grandma used to throw kitchen scraps right out her back door into her little garden and it grew like crazy. She didn’t even bury it.

I do that. It breaks down surprisingly fast. My back porch containers get all my food scraps because of the convenience especially with things my chickens won’t eat. They can be picky. And I watch Sage and Homestead. I pay for Hulu, Amazon Prime, Netflix and what do I watch?? Garden videos on RUclips. 😂😂😂 I call it my Garden Education. Been gardening around 12 years and I’m no expert and learn new things every day.

RUclips has such a wealth of knowledge from so many different people! I watch more RUclips than anything else by a long shot!

Looking forward to the results. Thanks for sharing. Happy for you, that you are living the changes that you wanted to see in your production and documentation.
I've done this modified side loading method of composting , at least a micro amount. Fish parts after cleaning a camp trip haul. Nothing trackable but I'm sure it didn't hurt my harvest yield.

It’s been fun, I’m enjoying it!
Oh man, I miss fishing. My life has become so hectic that I don’t get out as much. I used to go 3-4 days a week 😂. Fish parts are so nutritious!

Interesting idea. Never thought of doing this. Pardon the pun but great food for thought. Thanks

    Curious of the results.
Have you ever considered cold hardy cover crops for your raised beds?

I’ve thought about it! I can’t figure out what to do though, we get down into the single digits for a few weeks out of the year and I’m not sure what I could grow. I was thinking this year I may take the fallen leaves from our trees to cover the beds though!

@@WhitepepperFarmshomestead after you final harvest turn the soil over and plant winter wheat/winter rye either or and allow it to start before cold weather truly sets in. When it snows both will go dormant but will remain green. When temps warm post winter both will grow explosively. You will have to terminate 20 or 30 days before you plant you veggie crop( you have to give it long enough to break down or it will sequester nitrogen which will make your veggies grow slow)
As an added benifit to the nutrients that will be released it will warm your soil because of the bacteria creating heat just as it would in a compost pile. Being as that spring mass growth should be nitrogen rich you should be able to start you veggies 20-30 days after turning over. Winter rye (grain rye) will grow when temps are above 35 degrees so your growth should occur long before you can plant veggies.😊😊😊

Instead of shilling someone else’s raised beds why not sell your own flat packed raised beds?

    • @WhitepepperFarmshomestead

Because there are so many cheap, terrible raised bed brands on the market. I don’t have the money, time, or knowledge to create my own raised bed that could compete with the ones I currently have. I would much rather promote a product I truly love then to create something not as good and promote that when it isn’t something I would use in my own garden.
If I knew how to manufacture those.. maybe, but I don’t and I don’t have the time to learn 😂

"shill" how is saying "this is an amazing product" shilling when they use the product and genuinely think it's good?
