Absurdly complicated. It cost me $85 to replace the left headlight because the battery had to come out; now I find that the right hand light is just as complicated. I love my Subaru but the maintenance is absurd.

as for the water in the headlights.... I have been running my headlights without the twist cap on the back for over 5 years now and haven't had any lights go. There is also no corrosion on the wires/connector either from water. I have LED headlights that have heat sinks on the back that do not fit unless I leave the cover off of the back, and I get no moisture build up. I used to get moisture build up when i would pressure wash my car with the caps on, I feel like the caps just keep moisture in once it gets in there....

Are you talking about the large cap cover on the low beam bulb?

Thank you! Half way through getting the headlamp out due to water buildup.

Hey Miguel, my mom has the water in her pass head lamp 06 Subaru Forrester. is the only solution so far just to replace it? Or is it worth it to check for holes/cracks/gaps and seal it? Then buff out the haze.. ? Any help appreciated. Thanks

i think its probably worth it to check for holes/cracks/gaps & seal if you can. It would probably be a lot of work so if you have the money and not the time I’d recommend just replacing it. But the haze is pretty easy to get rid of, you can actually buy stuff to get rid of haze on the inside without even taking it apart.

6 years later. Thank you sir. Your video helped so much. That last bolt on the light made me laugh. "That sneaky bitch" definitely had me cursing. Appreciate the upload. Light fixed.

Video still relevant 12/10/2022. Of course I have one electrical plug that absolutely will not release. FML ! Helpful and quick video. No one ever shows the push pin under the inner fender well and that is probably the hardest one to remove !

Awesome, thanks for taking the time to put this video out there, tackling the same project on my Forester next week when the lamp comes in. Looks much more complicated than expected.

What a pain in the butt! I did my Toyota Tacoma headlight in minutes. Now, I've gotta spend an hour removing related nuts bolts and even the whole bumper on a used Forester?? Bummer!

    As a former owner of a 2000
2005 Imprezas this is ridiculous. I am not taking apart the front end for a 168 bulb. Definitely “hold my beer” engineering. Thanks for the video

This is for replacing the whole headlight unit not just the bulb.
