      Agree. Its crazy. If you do these lights everyday you can get em in and out fast. But if it's the first time, take your time. Removing the bumper is very doable but awkward and dealing with a lot of plastic that can break. Also you want to be warm so the plastic isn't brittle 😃

      Not yet, I haven’t bought the new ones yet, I wanted to see what kind of a job it would be to replace them. I opened up the rear access hole and warmed them up for a while to let the water evaporate. For a trip I am taking tomorrow through a lot of rain I will put a strip of packing tape across the top and see if it keeps the water out. That Top seam seems to be where it is coming in.

    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  5 лет назад

      @@sdold That is a great idea! Good luck, keep me posted :)

    • @sdold
      @sdold 5 лет назад +1

      The packing tape didn't help. I sealed the top edge really well too, so I don't think that's where it is coming in. It might be coming in the 1/16" drain holes I drilled in the bottoms of the lenses. I'll cover the holes next time I have a chance to dry them out. I never thought I'd be this cheap.

    • @EasyFixShaun

    Can u help me?

    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  4 года назад +1

      Yup. There are lots of manufacturers making led light conversion bulbs. Some are good. Some are not. I’ve had good luck and bad luck. Bad luck usually means you have to purchase another brand and replace the lights all over again. As far as looking up the right part start with your bulb number that you want to replace and buy the bulbs to convert. You may not want to buy the cheapest kit. The best kits are usually a little more money. You get what you pay for kind of thing. There is a lot of junk available. Take your time and select something that you think is going to last.

      There are some ways to remove the lamp and "un-bake" the seals for disassembly in your home oven. Pretty slick. Although I must admit I have never done that. I replace the lamps only. Much faster and easier. Check out some videos on you tube on that. You should be able to find some 😀

      Easy Fix thank you! They -Subaru sure didn't make it simple did they? I replaced my old 2001 Mustang headlights assembly myself I was impressed & surprised! But I wouldn't even think about taking a bumper off!😬 You made it look easy but.... do you have any recommendations brands, websites etc for the best most reasonable reputable companies to get the whole headlight assemblies for both sides? If I gotta spend that much for installation I can't spend an arm and a leg for the parts but I want them to last! I have a 2007 Subaru Forester that I plan on keeping till the wheels fall off! Also, any suggestions for the type of bulbs led, halogen, etc? Both of the original covers are hazed and the passengers side is covered inside with condensation really bad the low beam on that side has stopped burning not sure if it's just a burnout bulb or because of the condensation. Am weighing weather I need to replace both sides of bulbs or replace the whole housing on both sides. Any thoughts? Thank you for your response, I appreciate it!

    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  3 года назад +2

      No problem. They whole bumper coming off for lamps is a real bummer! You can replace them yourself though. Once the bumper is removed they are easy. As far as recommended manufacturer.....aftermarket will be the most affordable and look great initially. They are made in china usually. Sometimes they get water inside of them within a year, which is disappointing. I have had to replace them twice, on several vehicles. The best parts, will no doubt be from Subaru. I don't know the cost but I know they will last forever. So if you are keeping your car forever go with Subaru. That way you will only need to do it once. For bulbs, Led bulbs seem to be bright. They are almost too bright! You can find those on ebay and amazon. Usually any lamp that you buy will come with standard lamps in them.

    • @pamelayounger4247
      @pamelayounger4247 3 года назад +1

      Easy Fix thank you! Thanks for the info I guess the aftermarket parts are gonna be cheaper but if they don't last then you may as well spent the extra $$ and get the Subaru parts, saw another video just now on here and this guys light went out - cover didn't look to have condensation in it but he figured out the ballast had water in it so I guess that's another possible that could cause issues? Again thanks I'd really like the look of the new assembly but at possibly $300 for parts and another 2-300 for labor it's not a cheap fix!!🙄

    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  3 года назад

      I agree. Ya it’s a bummer on the cost. But you will see much better! 😀
