Curse of the Sea Rats is a platform adventure with lovingly crafted, hand-drawn animations. Embark on the epic journey of four prisoners of the British empire, transformed into rats by the notorious pirate witch, Flora Burn. To regain their human bodies, they will have to fight dangerous bosses, uncover the secrets of the vast Irish coast, and ultimately capture the witch who cursed them.

I've said it before and I will say it again, if the characters were just anthropomorphic rodents and not cursed humans, I would be way more interested in this.
I don't mind them being cursed humans, although the fact that the quest is to regain their human forms DOES dampen it a little for me
@@InfiniteThePhantomJackal Honestly, I hate both the plot and the fact that they're "cursed humans" for two reasons. First, why I hate that they're cursed humans.
There are not that many games with anthros or non-human protags. I LOOK at the characters, and sure, I see these cute, charming rats. Unfortunately, I can't treat them as these unique rat characters because in reality, they're cursed human. Humans like MILLIONS of other characters in media. The quote unquote "human connection" doesn't make them more relatable. It just makes them more generic than they need to be.
I also hate "Become human" plots usually because there's no legitimate reason they NEED to become humans. In Pinnochio, it's symbolic. In Princess and the Frog, they are impaired through being small. But here, and in a lot of cases, there are absolutely no drawbacks to being anthros, and in said cases, they would likely GAIN new abilities through being animals. "We need to be human again because potatoes" pretty much. "We're cursed because potatoes" pretty much. You could cut it out of the story and not much would change.
@@baalfgames5318 Personally, I have a liking for the likes of cursed humans if the "curse" is something like this and they DON'T have some big priority on becoming human again, instead learning to adjust to their new bodies.
@@InfiniteThePhantomJackal maybe if that was the case that they just learned to accept it, but I'd rather them not have been human at all because now I can't treat these characters as these cute anthropomorphic animals. I have to treat them as a species that I normally play video games to get away from.

If this gets a physical release, I will buy it.
Not every indie game can afford doing a physical release. Costs a lot of money to do it.
They had an option for physical release when they did the kickstarter campaign back in 2020. I've got a physical copy on the way, along with a comic book, stickers, 4 postcards, a treasure map, a digital soundtrack and a digital artbook (pledged for a physical artbook too!)
Indies generally don't get a physical release, wish exceptions like Kickstarter and years-later if it does super- well digitally
It's up to pre-order on Amazon, luckily.

That's a very optimistic point of view you have there about their curse.
But you have a point. Being turned into rats wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen to you. There are far worse curses that could've been cast on them.
