What a fabulously choreographed program for her! As Sandra Bezic said at the 1991 Worlds, both programs showcased her speed and power. I preferred both of her 1990-1991 programs to those she ended up with a year later at the Olympics.
Actually, she had felt a severe pain in her left ankle during this competition. So, she told them in practice that she had no confidence this time. You can see a sign of bitterness on her face sitting in the kiss and cry after the performance. Well done, Midori!
Funny how she was considered not artistic when compared to what we have now she may as well be Makarova. Her artistry was in her power. Russian "girls" now can do quads but they are as exciting as a piece of bread. Midori was unique. I was a skater and a skating fan and I don't watch any of it anymore. The code of points ruined everything. You may as well be watching the same skater 26 times.
So this is what this program looked like with Midori staying in the rink the whole time, haha. Thanks for sharing this!
