zain's def gotta figure out the fox MU all over again for cody specifically, kinda crazy considering how dominant zain used to be over cody in the past...
this edge guard at 6:17 is so important for fox's to study! when Marth can double jump back to stage, shielding with your back facing the ledge lets you wave dash back and grab ledge if Marth tries to go low. If Marth tries to double jump back to stage from high up, you can shark his landing with either a full hop bair or delayed full hop bair to wait out his side B. It's a similar setup to how pipsqueak edge guards falcon
Putting zain as the number 1 didn't make too much sense to me. Back in the summer it would have made sense but so many cracks have formed since then that amsa or Mang0 would have made more sense with IBDW and Zain neck and neck for 3rd seed
Ibdw is obviously really good at this matchup but zain really needs to work on his fox punish game again. I feel like he’s been focusing on falcon, sheik and puff the last couple years and fox used to be his comfort matchup but Cody has had his number for over half a year now and he’s someone zain is going to frequently run into
Maybe, to me it just feels like his edgeguards against fox have been lacking and he doesn’t have that touch of death that he used to have. I also don’t like him going to FD with his playstyle. When peak M2K touched you on FD you would die but zain isn’t as good at the chain grab and his playstyle seems to work more with platform movement so I think he should stop counterpicking FD or practice the chain grab and change his playstyle for that counter pick.
I think Zain needs to go back to basics with his Marth. It's kinda clear that he's been a bit too hyperfocused on certain match ups like Sheik for example. He also plays Mang0 a bit too much so that may have affected his game a little bit. Sure Mang0 is good practice, but Mang0 is the type to make you learn how to read player specific habits rather than create solid general gameplans.
I remember seeing iBDW like prepandemic and he just seemed like an ok fox player, holy shit has he improved. I'm just a pleb who just watches and doesn't even play, but even I could tell how impressive that was
cody schwab is the only fox that's watchable, and even then I'm still getting bored of it. I'm tired of seeing fox. every damn match is fox v. some other character. I'd take a jiggly game if it meant the other player wasn't a fox.
@@veffiesdda965 If we are talking seed for this tournament, it probably should have been Amsa, Mang0, Zain and IBDW tossedup, and Jmook was evidently the darkhorse

It's insane! He beat Cody so hard Cody tried to pick up sheik
the answer is to use donttestme
Not really - he had that final match and just didn't hold the ledge long enough giving fox an entire stock + some damage
@@phoenixflower1225 when ur not literally 0 to deathing cody on fd, ur losing the match
Armada sent his homie to make sure nobody matches his genesis streak, like a mafia boss.
Always love hearing homemade waffles on the mic. Fun set for sure
I loved 4:01
hmw or yungwaff has always just been fun commetary! Before and after they had to be more family friendly
I didnt know melee progressed this much. Cody is a beast, Ive never seen this level of fox play before.
Great content!
The last 4 banners on the thumbnail for the tournament are wrong! Just a heads up
True lmao I hadn’t noticed

Thanks for reporting it, we'll fix it right away!

Marth players gotta stop counterpicking FD if they can’t kill off 1 grab every time

Hard agree from a skill perspective, but not from a numbers perspective
cody is so good vs marth damn
After this I really saw Cody winning the whole thing. Really dominating
Melee is so sick
And there’s so much more of it to be played
@@HispanicatthediscoMTG amen to that
Remember when people were saying that Marth on FD was unwinnable for fox?
hands down the best fox marth play ever on the fox's side
Cody is legitimately fearsome against Zain.
well theres goes that. Time to hope Jmook wins his first major.

His punishes didn't seem bad to me, the issue was iBDW just kept getting in

That was a DISGUSTINGLY good game 2 from Cody
Always satisfying to see Zain get bodied. Let’s you know the top players keep each other in check
Zain's edgeguards vs. Fox are so weak these days, but maybe these super notched controllers just make it so hard to cover all the angles
That and Cody in particular is very difficult to edge guard
Cody was playing out of his mind x_x
Marth chain grab = fox edgegaurd
unreal
the fox to make the no1 marth looks clueless on fd
The year is 20XX...
Wow, Zain is looking like my Marf.
holy fuck this fox is insane
Rank 1? Easy work the one that do be doing work
Yo
Zain is probably the best. But he crumbles, when things are going bad they always snowball tremendously.
NAH WHY DEY WEARING MASKS IN 2023 BRUH I STOPPED WEARING MINE IN 2021
I'll say it again, "fox has all the tools to beat Marth on fd, this mu is even"
