Excitation-contraction coupling in the heart. How an electrical signal causes the heart to beat.

Each beat of the human heart results from electrical signals in the form of an #actionpotential spreading through the heart and being transduced into contraction of the #heart muscle.
This video explains the molecular mechanisms by which electrical excitation of a cardiac (heart) muscle causes it to contract. The process is known as excitation-contraction coupling.
