  • A Sony a7IV cinematic of our amazing trip through Japan. This short film was shot in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara & Kamakura with the Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 in SLOG3 with some post video stabilization.
    Two shots (0:06 and 1:38) were shot on the a7SIII with the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 on the DJI RS3 gimbal.
    Special thanks to @ShawnXiaoMelb and @CaseyCaiCai for sharing this journey with me! 🤍
    Music:
    Ichi-no-tani - Idokay
    Taiyaki - Idokay
    Kumiko - Roie Shpigler

    this is genuinely one of the best short films I've seen so far on RUclips. I'm heading to Japan in a few months and I'm definitely taking some notes of inspiration from this!

    Ohh god. I must say this one is an OUTSTANDING video about Japan.
    The shot, the composition and especially the sound.
    It's not just a travel video with some pop/rock music slap on and destroy the whole vibe but very spot on choice of music, sound effect and original sound.
    (the Japanese voice at the beginning is worth to mention too)
    Video is about the combination of watch and hear and you nailed it beautifully.
    You deserve more subscribers for your state of art my friend.

    Seriously, I haven't seen such great film using sigma 28-70mm. I thought it was inadequate for quality shooting, but i have changed my mind. Great work man.

      Thank you! I really like the light weight for a full frame f2.8 zoom lens. It's quite versatile when you don't need to shoot very wide.

      Was there any noticeable optical issue using this lens?

    • @KaspervanDijk
      @KaspervanDijk  2 месяца назад +2

      @@sensualistisch No, I think it's optically great, even at f/2.8. I also like how the bokeh looks (not busy). The Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 (for aps-c) and this one are my favorite lenses.

    You need to give us tutorials and how you shoot! I really like your videos, im buying the Sony A6700 with the Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 and I really like to do cinematic videos. I really like your style with music/background sounds/slow pace shift to fast paced. Keep it up! Makes me really happy to see what you can pull of with that camera and the lens because you straight up kill it.

    Amazing. Did you stabilize with catalyst browse? I always find I lose detail with post stabilization, but these shots are so steady and so clean!

    • @KaspervanDijk
      @KaspervanDijk  6 дней назад +1

      Thanks! It's mostly stabilized with warp stabilizer in Premiere Pro. A few shots are stabilized with Catalyst Browse, like the sunset shots in the intro. I think Catalyst Browse exports the footage in 8-bit with a lower bitrate, so that might explain the loss in detail. But sometimes it's worth to trade in some detail for more stability.

    Very good video. So many cities and there is so much to photograph in each. How did you manage to put everything together in 4 minutes? I've been shooting with the A7CII for a while now, and in just one of the listed cities I have at least 2-3 hours of raw material to edit. 😉

    • @KaspervanDijk
      @KaspervanDijk  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks! For me, it helps to tell a little story or pick a certain theme to create some boundaries, get more creative and make editing more focused. Also music is a big inspiration for my edits. This can also create some direction. But most importantly is to just start and trust your intuition. :)

    • @KaspervanDijk
      @KaspervanDijk  2 месяца назад

      The biggest difference will be the dynamic range. It will be lower with more contrast in s-cinetone. But if you don't enjoy color grading, it can be a good option.

    • @KaspervanDijk
      @KaspervanDijk  2 месяца назад

      I use it manually. With enough light I leave the ISO at 800 (base ISO). In low light I leave it at ISO 3200 (2nd base ISO). This will make sure you have the most dynamic range and less noise. Only in very extreme situation I will bump the ISO higher, but I try to avoid it.
