Its an unbelievable gem. I have just bought one with real 14.500 miles, same original condition, all the documents and full story. Mine’s got fresh tires though but the spare wheel is the 66 yrs old Firestone, too.

I owned a 57 Chevy. My dad taught me about cars with that vehicle. We tore down the engine and rebuilt it. That knowledge has stayed with me all my life. So, I have a nostalgic affection for this car. Thanks.

This is my beautiful sons phone.. loved the recommended video on the original condition bel air. This is a passion of my son. He past away from colon cancer the 26th of December. He was only 30 years old. He has a original 1971 chevelle. He purchased when he was only 17. He had me his mom looking all over the United States to find his dream car. We found it only 10 miles away from a little old lady. The only wear on it was a little hole by the gas peddle where her high heel wore into and a little ding in the back bumper were she hit the trash cans. She only ever drove it from home to church or the grocery store. It sits in his garage as his collector piece because of a family he never got to do what he wanted to and didn’t probably put more than a thousand miles on it himself. What a tragedy. He has all these boxes of ordered stuff for it just sitting in his garage and cancer took him so fast he never got to work on it. 😭 we share the passion for these beautiful pieces of machinery. Can go down the road and notice any of these classics without drooling. Have to put the window down just to hear the sounds of there imagines. Love the Elmer Fud comment about wheeleatate. Joshua Blizard’s mom. 💔
Hi Mom, Thank you for sharing Joshua's passion. Sorry to read of his passing :-( I have a 14 year old Son and this RUclips Channel is dedicated to keeping the legacy of these cars alive. Hope you enjoy many more cars on this RUclips Channel, Lou
Amazing! I owned a 57 Chevy I paid $50 for once. I drove it for six months and sold it for $100. It was a eleven year old northern Wisconsin rust bucket. This is a WOW, WOW, and WOW car. Thanks Lou.
just now seeing this, i see its at least 3 yrs old but this car is just insane. "safe driver" sticker award from 1959 and original tires put this car in a class of its own!... thanks Lou
That 1957 two door Chevrolet Bel Air is identical to my dad's yellow Bel Air that was traded in for a 1961 two door Impala. Congratulations, Lou, for this unique classic find still in mint condition.
These videos are invaluable to me as reference material for my car modelling. And that is just beautiful, I had a poster of a 57 Chevy on my wall when I was a kid in the 80s they are just the pinnacle of 50s design for me. Thanks Lou
I remember these chevys new when I was 13! Everybody wanted a '57, especially the teen boys, who would "soup" them up and race them. I love the sound when he starts the engine...it brings back memories.
The 55's56's & the 57 Chevys were the best Chevys of that decade. The biggest thing about restoring Chevys is the parts availability. They made more vehicles than anyone else except maybe Ford. When I used to do auto body & paint work, I met this guy that had two 57 Belairs & he wanted me to restore one & give me the other one for payment. It turned out that the one he wanted to give me was a basket case. It had rusted out ratholes on the fenders, rocker panels, quarter panels, & floor pans & had badly pitted chrome on both bumpers so I passed on it. That's what happens to cars when you just let them rot in an open field!!! The weather beats the hell out of them. Now about that 57,it looks pristine inside & out with nice chrome & trim & Nice Red paint & nice interior plus it has the original 283 engine which was a very good engine. My dad had a 63 Impala with the 283 engine & he had 150k on it before he traded it in. The only things he replaced were the water pump, starter, & alternator. That's a very cool looking 57 Chevy. I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️that car!!!
I friend of mines grandfather left him a red 57 belair 4dr hardtop with 8,057 Original miles the only thing ever changed was the water pump and battery this was in 2016

Lou, I don’t know how you find them but please keep up the good work for your loyal subscribers! I myself prefer cars to be driven, but in this case, it should be preserved in its original condition. Just beautiful and a wonder to see. Thx once again Lou!
Hi Dave, When I go to car shows it's a little like Christmas, I never know what present will show up. However when I see one I like, seems the "Loyal Subscribers" like them too :-) My pleasure sharing with you, you're welcome, and glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Breath taking. Jim, you have a virtual time machine! 62 year old beauty with 20,000 original miles and tires. Folks spend hundreds of hours and tens of thousands of dollars finding parts to rebuild classics and it's as if you went back in time and brought back a stunning piece of history. By the way, love the house and garage. And you have a split window to boot, man. Lou, you have outdone yourself sir. Your car finder radar must be calibrated by NASA. Thank you Jim and Lou for sharing this rare gem. Two thumbs up, a salute and a standing ovation!!!
One of my all-time favorite cars. Would occasionally see on the road up here in the Northeast, usually as a hot rod back in the 80s. Have not seen one on the road since the 90s at latest. Absolutely beautiful. No wonder Jim looked so happy at the beginning of the video. Great story.
I see them fairly often in the midwest, but most appear to have either been hot rodded or restored. Although who knows since this car would appear to be an older restoration to most people, almost unbelievable that it's in that good of shape as an original.
This video stirs countless fond recollections of my late uncle's beautiful turquoise and white '57 Bel Air hardtop. 283, 4 barrel, duals, Continental kit. We'd cruise all over, go for lunch, attend car shows and invariably get thumbs up, waves and smiles everywhere. He had owned a light blue and white '57 Chevy convertible when he first met/married my aunt and had always wanted another one. No doubt that ragtop he sold as a young newly married guy would be a valuable ride today if restored to excellent condition. Maybe it's even still out there somewhere! I remain grateful that my uncle got to re-live that dream with the hardtop and we got to experience it with him, until he sold the car in 1989. Still, the memories always remain. Thanks for this one, Lou!! Very nice and a piece of history and American cultural heritage.
Having had a few of these "puppies" as I prefer to call my little puppies, technically, the two-door open-window (no center post) is called a "Sport Coupe." The "sedan came in either 2 or 4 doors. Both the 2 and 4 door sedan have the center post ((B-pillar) that racers enjoy for their added rigidity. But the 2-door Bel Air Sport Coupe are the most sought after.
What a beauty. I am the guy who says these things are meant to be driven, but it would really be a shame on that one. Its a one of a kind time machine, just keep it that way!

@Politically Incorrect Are you insane? This is possibly the last original 57 Chevy, and you would ruin it by changing the wheels? I hope you meant tires.
@@Millermacs… I think the guy above mentioned a set of extra wheels for the sake of safety. You can always throw the OEM stuff back on to do a show as original. It's actually a very common practice for those who have an all original car they want to enjoy on the road, as well as do the show circuit.
Lou, I’ve watched your channel under different names, but this has got to be a “Top Ten” car. Where else can one see an all original 1957 Chevy Bel Air? Real takes one’s breathe away. Thx again Lou!
pat mcgeough my 67 F100 had a full under the hood restore and rebuild in 1996, it sat for 18 years after, and looks like what is shown in the video. Time and neglect can make a cherry look rotten
Just a stunner Bel Air. I had the same car with 50,000mi., with black exterior 20 years ago. It was very original but I restored it because of rust problems. Certainly not this car but this one brings back memory’s. I’ve owed and raced at lease 6 bel air hardtops in my 73 years. Thanks so much for sharing this car! Btw I also once owned a black on black split window fuelie, that’s another story. Thanks again!!

Outstanding! A treat to see this one. My big brother (rest his soul) bought one very much like it back in '57. For his last Christmas (in 2015), I sent him a fully-detailed diecast model of one just like this one and he was so thrilled. Ah, the memories! How I'd help him wax it (and he'd pay me a quarter), how he let me steer it one day as he drove. And the sound of that Power-Pak (2 4-bbl carbs) and dual exhaust! If they have classic cars in Heaven, I'm sure he's driving one now. Thanks for the memories, Lou. P.S. I have to tell you, you almost scared me to death when you reached down and touched the back edge of that black trunk mat. I bought an original '57 Chevy (60K mi.) back in the 70s and, trust me, you NEVER want to try to lift that mat! I did, just to see how the metal was underneath, and it put a godawful tear in that mat! After that many years the rubber is dry and not pliable at all. Remember that! All the best, Lou!
The 57 belair has always been my absolute all-time favorite car my entire life. Always wanted one. I not only like these cars from the 50s but the music and the aesthetics as well. As you can see, I even named my channel after it. To see it in pristine condition and seeing these gorgeous time capsules being revived and just brought to life is remarkable, but seeing one just froze in time like this brought tears of joy to my eyes.

You know the 57 was an instant legend when it debuted. I'm sure the Madam understood this and said "I need to own a 57 Belair." I'm sure she told many folks in her days she owned a new, off the showroom 57. Incredible find. Good to see it is in the proper hands.
As a history buff and as a person who prefers these tri five Chevies stock, I'm so grateful for this video as it was uploaded on a day I was sick. With my favorite paint job style too. Red and white.
The epitome of a Survivor car right down to the safe driver sticker for 1959! You've truly found another great one, Lou. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Lou:This is 1950's Americana at its best. The legendary Harley Earl design says it all. And a 100% survivor at that, it just doesn't get any better than this. The wow factor is clearly off the chart. Man what a beautiful machine,a time capsule for sure! Have a great day and all the best for 2019.

@@kenmoore3086 Yes, the engine alone looks like it has over 100,000 miles for look at the valve covers. 60 year old tires I would not even drive out of garage due to dry rot.
@@tonytrotta9322 Engines back then were very sloppily and thinly painted. If I could post a picture, I could show you a picture of my 1965 Barracuda engine taken back in 1969. Most of the factory paint was gone even then. As for the tires, they may not be factory original, but they are certainly very old.

The engine has been pressure washed crappy paint on the valve covers if you sand blast them and make them rough prime and paint then it will stick.. The radiator fins were damaged a little with a pressure washer too .. She get another set of wheels and tires to put on it and drive it a little ..
230 comments in just 2 days!! No steering, brakes or air but I wouldn't turn it down!!! Agree with a comment below, shoulda put a "tar top" Delco battery in there. Motor is a 283 - 2V Rochester, Powerglide. . . not the Turgoglide which was also available that year; the tires have "tubeless" on them, which is correct -- 1st year for that, though they could have been bought from Coker Tire some years ago. For the original tires to look that good today, it would have to have been kept inside a humidity-controlled room!! I would adjust the hydraulic lifters. The distributor has the window to adjust points, 1st year for that. One final note: The 283 would need a lead additive to the tank, wasn't designed to run on unleaded. No offense but the interviewer knows little about the Tri-Fives.
@@lostsoul3154 Owned one for years. From '78 to about '95. Red with a white top and interior. 265 V8 with a power glide. Two door post. Silver trim, none of the Belair stuff.
...not a sedan...a 2 door hardtop...I must say a BIG THANK YOU for preserving this car...and NOT lowering it, putting 22" wheels on it, disc brakes, LS motor swap, bucket seats...you know, all the stuff that makes it NOT really a '57 anymore...I believe if I owned it, I would get a second set of wheels/tires and drive it just a LITTLE... :)...keep the originals, though...actually, driving and running it a little might actually help preserve it...anyway, thank YOU Lou Costabile for showing us these great cars! :)
Hi dyer2cycle, Yes I said sedan, and it's clearly a hardtop :-) My pleasure to find them and share them with you, and glad you're along for the ride, Lou
My 56 Plymouth Belvedere (equivalent price wise to the Chevy Bel Air) has the lenses for the backup lights, but no bulbs or wiring for them. Also no radio, and no power steering or brakes. But it does have its original power pack engine (4 barrel, dual exhausts), plus automatic trans.

I'm 68 years old, born & raised in Minneapolis MN, never heard of Barrington, or Barrington Motors Minneapolis either. Hummm, no a car 62 years old could never be a SCAM, right ? Where is the original window sticker ? They had manufacturer's wdw. sticker's back then. The VIN plate mounted on the firewall, looks brand new, polished aluminum, BTW. There was a Harold Chevrolet in Mpls
No, first window stickers for new autos was the 1959 model year. Came about as the result of legislation passed into law in July of 1958. And sure, a supposedly low mileage car could be a scam, especially considering that it was common back then for used car dealers to roll back the odometer on a used car they were selling. But there are ways to tell. For one thing here, the original owner kept the car for years, then it went to a collector for many more years. I.e., it wasn't resold by a used car dealer. Secondly, it clearly is not a fully restored car, and the condition of the engine compartment and tires, if nothing else, is pretty convincingly original to me. I could go on, but I see no reason to believe this car is a scam. Low mileage original cars do exist, and this appears to be one of them.
@chief tp It's not a question of what "most people" would do back then or now. It's a question of what some people do. Believe it or not there are a small number of low mileage time capsules. This appears to be one of them.
This guy is no dummy. He obviously knows his cars. I am certain he did extensive research and received documentation to prove the cars mileage. As far as you not remembering that dealership, you would have only been 7-8 years old at the time. I am 52. I live in a medium-large sized city. I can not remember all of the car dealerships that have come and gone around here. That is not the kind of thing that most people remember. I have purchased cars from dealerships that are long gone which I cant remember anymore. Dealerships change owners, change names, go out of business. Simply because someone can not remember a car dealership that was in their town when they were 8 years old does not mean it did not exist.
Gary. First, the dealer is Barington, not Barrington. With a few minutes online research, I found two links referring to an early fifties dealership Baston-Barington Chevrolet at 1221 West Lake Street in Minneapolis. See tokencatalog.com/token_record_forms.php?action=DisplayTokenRecord&td_id=170163&inventory_id=528121&attribution_id=172620 and slphistory.org/bastonbert/. I'd say Mr. Baston got out at some point leaving Mr. Barington as the sole owner. At any rate, the fact that you never heard of that dealership doesn't mean it didn't exist.
So many haters or those who just wanna "Clean 'er up a bit", some of you have no idea what a "Survivor" car is. Real basic - a car which has survived as ALL original or with minimal, necessary repairs. A car is only original ONCE - as nice as it might be to paint those valve covers, it's not the right thing to so. Quite possible the heater hoses finally gave out or were close to that - surprising no one mentioned the battery was a newer sealed unit without the original vented caps. Somebody mentioned "No window sticker", somehow I think the original purchaser never knew that 60 + years later we would be discussing her baby. This gentleman allowed Lou to record his property for the benefit of those of us to enjoy, not to have it picked apart. Like the rest, I'm allowed my 2 cents, so there it is.
@@vincescalise4821 Hi Vince, I own some vintage cars with all the features you mentioned, and I drive them on occasion. I'd rather refer to it as "an experience" than a handful. lol
Beautiful car! I love it! One of my Top Ten dream cars! 1957 Chevy Bel Air 2-door hardtop, convertible, and Nomad sport wagon. This car is a 2-door hardtop, not a sedan. Designed by Harley Earl, Carl Renner, and Clare R. MacKitchan. Chevy is USA-1. As Dinah Shore sang the song jingle, "See the USA in your Chevrolet!" Love the tailfins! (the only year Chevy had vertical tailfins) and the interior, the instrument panel and steering wheel, and the entire design is a masterpiece!
@@loucostabile Thank you. Have you watched the youtube video of the older women who had drove her 57 chevy for over 60 yesrs? Awesome story. I think she finally sold it in 2017 not sure.
When you're old and don't get out much like myself you tend to save your favorites in the garage. I've got two Cadillacs and 4 Harleys in mine. Mostly just for me to look at and sit on. I keep them serviced, waxed and polished and run every month to keep the seals from drying out and leaking. Visitors to my house get an unexpected museum tour.
@@loucostabile ..my father in law talks about his 57' chevy ALL. THE. TIME. Lol! He's around 60something in age, and he drove a 57 way back in the late 70s/early 80s. I wish I could afford to surprise him with one, he'd probably faint, haha!
A sedan has posts to the roof dividing the back seat from the front doors. And a hard top don't. Is that wrong?it was always my understanding that's the difference between a hard top and a sedan. Let me know? Thanks. Beautiful wonderful car either way
In this era GM produced 2 & 4 door cars; they were either posted or non-posted. We called 'em 2 & 4 door sedans (posted) OR- 2 & 4 door Hard-Tops (no post), which was considered the more sportier-- California style. My cuz back in the day had the first 4-D HT I ever saw: a 1956 BelAir, red/white.
The 2-door post-type was the original 2-D coupe for car manufacturers and produced for many years. About 1950 stylists at GM apparently decided to offer the no-post, 2-D Hard-Top which had a more sportier convertible-look but without the hi-maintenance cloth-top. A friend had a '50 Chev and it was the first Chev available in the 2-D HT; it did look good with all four windows rolled down cruizing out to the beach on a nice California day. The 2-D HT became the hands-down ride to be in, even over convertibles. My first 2-D HT was a '55 Pontiac Catalina, then a '63 Impala SS 340hp; then dropped back to a '62 Bonneville which was pretty much the ultimate hard-top land cruizer of the day.. Fuel was never a problem in that era, tank-up with Chevron Supreme 100+ @ 25-30c/gal and you were good to go; geezz, those were the days..
@@dmer-zy3rb The "point" was (frankly) to have a sexy, top-of-the-line 2 door sport coupe without the restrictive pillars that had taken that away that kind of beauty not many years before '57. It also gave the buyers an additional body style from which to choose. Not everyone wanted the open 2 door coupe. Many more preferred the 2 and 4 door sedans for practicality and felt they were safer. If you look at the roof of the '57 sedans (Bel-Airs included) the roofs are thicker and less sporty. I think the sedans probably did have some safety advantages. It came down to what you body style you wanted and were willing to pay for. Don't forget, Chevy was GM's entry level car division. A lot of people were looking for practicality when buying a Chevy. Others would seek out (say) Oldsmobile for a higher-end car. I'm glad enough people though, sought that out in the '57 Bel-Air coupe! Another thing people forget is that those cars were made for the car buying public of THAT time, not for people today at car shows to wonder why EVERY '57 Chevy weren't the fanciest Bel-Airs. They were (mainly) buying cars to suit their transportation needs and budgets. Many I'm sure loved the Bel-Air coupe too, but bought the 2 or 4 door sedan. It was, in its own way, a 'halo' car. Not like the ultra-expensive Nomad (that lured customers into the showrooms) but a halo car nonetheless.
I have a 60 year old Firestone gum dipped bias ply tire on the spare in my 56 Plymouth. It has not "completely disintegrated." In fact, it has no visible cracks in it. And no, it's not a modern replica, all of which have DOT info stamped into the sidewall, including dates, etc. Keep a tire inside and out of the sun, and it will last a long time (not to say it would be safe to drive, but it would look OK).
Just taking care of them. Not letting them sit flat, keeping them in a garage out of sunlight, keeping them clean with tire protector type products, maybe keeping the car lifted in the air so the vehicle is not resting on them. As they said in the vehicle the tires are not safe to drive on. They are showing signs of cracking in the sidewalls. If he were to decide to drive it regularly he would need to replace them. The previous and current owners were obviously very anal about this car and its upkeep. Yeah it got a small ding here or there and paint fading in places like the door jams and trunk lining but those things can not be helped. for the most part it has been extremely well maintained. If this car were a restoration project it would not have those flaws.
My dad has a 1970 Cadillac with the original, untouched spare tire in the back. It looks brand new, and the rubber feels brand new when you squeeze it. I think they must've coated it with some type of dangerous substance that is nolonger around which made the tires last longer than they do these days!
Lou this video reminded me of my Uncles pale yellow 57 Belair 2dr. Hardtop that he bought new! In the mid sixties when I was in grade school I got to ride in it sometimes. It was a really nice car! He drove it until 1973 and traded it in on a new Chevelle which he drove until he died in 2011. I have a Parnelli Jones Mustang that I used to drive a bit but when it turned 12k miles four years ago I quit driving it except for car shows and it has 12250 miles now! I have the exact same car with 79,000 original miles on it that has been sitting in a shop since 68 and I bought it from the 2nd owner. What I love about seeing the original ‘57 belair is how they actually looked. No reverse lights, no front dagmire bumper gaurds, No Extra trim across the lower trunk, and finger guards around the door handles.. You were lucky if you could afford the Belair and maybe power steering, radio, white wall tires.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your beautiful son Joshua. Sometimes life is so unfair. Please take care.

So very sorry for your loss ,that’s just heartbreaking
Amazing! I owned a 57 Chevy I paid $50 for once. I drove it for six months and sold it for $100. It was a eleven year old northern Wisconsin rust bucket. This is a WOW, WOW, and WOW car. Thanks Lou.

That 1957 two door Chevrolet Bel Air is identical to my dad's yellow Bel Air that was traded in for a 1961 two door Impala. Congratulations, Lou, for this unique classic find still in mint condition.

Thanks Lou
Hi Gaz the K's Modelworx, Happy to read the videos are helping you improve your modeling :-) I agree the 57 Chevy is an Iconic 50's Design, Lou

WOW what a Chevy masterpiece, a museum piece for sure!
Hi Clark Griswold, Glad to receive a 'WOW" from you :-) Agreed, a treasure, Lou
Hi John, Thank you for sharing your stories, Lou

I friend of mines grandfather left him a red 57 belair 4dr hardtop with 8,057 Original miles the only thing ever changed was the water pump and battery this was in 2016

Lou, I don’t know how you find them but please keep up the good work for your loyal subscribers! I myself prefer cars to be driven, but in this case, it should be preserved in its original condition. Just beautiful and a wonder to see. Thx once again Lou!

Hi jcnme27, High praise :-) Thank you for the kind words and I appreciate them, Lou
One of my all-time favorite cars. Would occasionally see on the road up here in the Northeast, usually as a hot rod back in the 80s. Have not seen one on the road since the 90s at latest. Absolutely beautiful. No wonder Jim looked so happy at the beginning of the video. Great story.
Hi Sabba_Dabba, The all time classic 1950's design :-) A fine choice. Lou
Hi AMCmachine, Glad this one brings great memories for you :-) You're welcome, Lou
Its not a sadan. It called a hardtop
What is a "sadan"?
Its "Sedan" sir and as long as it can hold four or more people it can be called a "Sedan"
Sedan
Also, a hardtop (belair) has no window post, a sedan (210,150) usually does.

I guess that's what the "split window" is for :-)
It's not a shame. If he drove it like the rest of the '57 Chevys out there, there wouldn't be any left like this one!
@Politically Incorrect
Are you insane? This is possibly the last original 57 Chevy, and you would ruin it by changing the wheels? I hope you meant tires.
@@Millermacs… I think the guy above mentioned a set of extra wheels for the sake of safety. You can always throw the OEM stuff back on to do a show as original. It's actually a very common practice for those who have an all original car they want to enjoy on the road, as well as do the show circuit.

Hi Jeff, Happy to receive a "Wow" from you :-) Thank you for viewing & sharing. Lou
Hi Jimbob, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Brothers car :-) You're welcome. Lou
For 20k miles that underhood looks rough!
Christian Dietrich The valve covers lost some paint, that’s your definition of rough?
Usually from nesting vermin.
60 years on planet Earth - you know, weather!
That’s because age related deterioration is often worse than miles.
The paint on the valve covers didn't hold up as well as the paint on the body
I still have the pink slip for my father's 1957 Chevy that he bought used in 1964
Nice :-)

No offense taken. Glad you enjoy the video and thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Much more likely that it has a 265 V-8 in it. Was a very common motor in these.

Blanked-off reverse lights. Would working ones have been an option?
@Jimz Thanks. SEVEN choices of engines! And and oil filter was optional?! Wow.
My 65 Chevy c10 don't have reverse lights

Mandela effect
My parents had a '57 4 door wagon and I as a kid sat inside the steering wheel and rocked back and forth, I'm 61 years old now!

Hi Tony coffee, I like driving them too, however I've seen quite a few cars in museums that I've enjoyed. Lou
I knew a guy who's grandfather had a 1932 Chevy, with only 5,000 miles, it was driven until the day he died.
WOW!
Pretty neat, depends on when he died though. Like if he died in 1940 not as unbelievable. Hope it found a good home after he died.
I love the tri-five Chevys. Too bad I can't afford to own one.
@the truth I do own a 1969 El Camino with 90,000 original miles and it still has the factory original spare tire.
Chris James ...If we would have only known way back when!
the truth ...We will be smarter the next time around! LoL
Me too. The 55 was always my favorite of the tri five chevys
Hope you're behind the wheel of the right one for you soon.
There's no words to describe, just simply incredible!
High praise :-)
@@loucostabile ..my father in law talks about his 57' chevy ALL. THE. TIME. Lol! He's around 60something in age, and he drove a 57 way back in the late 70s/early 80s. I wish I could afford to surprise him with one, he'd probably faint, haha!
A sedan has posts to the roof dividing the back seat from the front doors. And a hard top don't. Is that wrong?it was always my understanding that's the difference between a hard top and a sedan. Let me know? Thanks. Beautiful wonderful car either way
Hi Gerald Jyrkinen, You're right about the Sedan / Hard Top. Glad you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
@@MrGGPRI what was the point of producing 2 seperate 2 doors? did the normal 2 door have safety advantages, or something to the hardtop?
Beautiful! 😍 Hats off to Jim for taking care of this baby. Thanks for the video 👍🏼
Hi Rodin's The Thinker, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Regarding the video, it's my pleasure and you're welcome, Lou
How the hell would those tires last 60 years? They would be dry rotted for sure. He probably put retro bias ply tires on it.
Those tires kept out of the sun I believe could last that long ...
Tubeless tires in the 50's???
Thanks for the video Lou it brought back some great memories!

@@loucostabile Thanks Lou, the 1969 Boss 302 Mustang was my dream car when I was ten years old in 1969! The way prices have went on them made one prohibitive for me so I went with the next best thing the Parnelli Jones Mustang! It's been a fun car! Shaker Hood, 5 speed & rear window slats combined with great modern performance!
I'd put new tires on this car and drive it some. I know a guy with a '57 Bel Air in even better original shape with only 10,350 miles. The engine compartment is in exceptionally better shape.
Hi Creston Moore, Sounds like you've met a guy with quite the nice 1957 Bel Air too. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
I'm sure no one will ever see this comment anyway but that's not a 57 Chevy that is THE 57 ChEVY. Truly a one of a kind. I've never seen nothing else like it.

I’m 58 years old and have seen 57’s in all different stages of barn find, restored, hot rod, resto mod and street machine but this is definitely the most special 57 I have ever seen.one of these cars in this survivor condition with the history behind this particular car makes it the best 57 in the country in my opinion

Lou, I loved your comment about car clocks in those old cars. They were never accurate!
Aaron, Thank you for sharing what you loved :-)
Thank you all...first owner, 2nd owner, current owner....so fantastic...I'm a fan of 57 Bel Air too.
Hi Lao Han Tun, Glad to read you're a Fan of the 1957 Bel Air :-) You're welcome, lou
Back in the day when GM took pride in what they did ! Its a beautiful 57 chevy bel air !
:-)
Gorgeous ! Incredible Time Capsule Survivor ! Thanks Lou !
Hi Uncle Rudy, FUN to find this "Time Capsule" and share it with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
So this is a 283-V8 with a 2-barrel carb, dual exhaust, and Powerglide automatic, right? Just the way it came from the factory.
Gorgeous and glamourous car!
Hi Donald, Happy to read "Gorgeous and glamourous car!" :-) Lou
It's miraculous that this car survived in the state it's in . With the original tires ! That's just unheard of. Lou , you outdid yourself here . Thank you very much for sharing .
p.s. the garage business must be doing very well for Mr . Sheehan out there in what looks like Arizona .
Hi Michael Pacini, Agreed an amazing story on this find :-) You're welcome, Lou
Beautiful car, love 57 Chevys, there classic. I love to see these unrestored survivors, glad it's good hands and being well cared for. Great video.

My Dad had one. Bought it new. I was brought up riding around in that baby! Still have a soft spot for that beautiful car!
Hi b3j8, Glad this one brings good memories for you :-) Lou
@@loucostabile Thanks Lou! Subbed ya. Great channel!
Thank you :-)
I have the exact same car with 79,000 original miles on it that has been sitting in a shop since 68 and I bought it from the 2nd owner. Only thing that has been changed is the air cleaner because original owner lost it somehow and radiator sprung a leak so it was replaced. If course it has newer tires on it because it gets driven and I just bought new brakes due to wheel cylinders are starting to leak.
Happy to read you have a fun car like this too!
The Chevy is amazing that house is wow
Win / Win
Hey Lou, Love the Pumpkin & Orange timely car stories particularly the 57 Bel Aire on orig tires! Wow Good stuff. Keep them coming🎃🎃
Hey Larry, My pleasure sharing the treats with you :-) Lou
Stunning vehicle. 283 with a "power pack" gold v on hood. True time machine.
Hi D R, Glad to read this one is "stunning" :-) Fun finding this "gem" in the mountains to share with you, Lou
Didn't the Power pack come with a 4B Carb, ? this car looks to have a 2 B carb. Also Dual Exaust .
@@kenmoore3086 Looks like I am incorrect. I had thought the gold v meant "power pack" but is does look like it's a 2 barrel and research shows the pp had a 4 barrel.
NO shit man
The gold V is for Bel-air as to a 210 or 150.
I'm all foamy-mouthed right now! There arent enough Wows in my vocabulary to sum up how I feel about this treasure. You landed a great car on video, Lou! Fantastic!

in Canada, a 1957 Bel Air, would have also been called a Pontiac Laurentian, a rebadged Chevy.
Hi Paul, Thank you for sharing, Lou

thats special! glad i got to see it
Hi deanhinsley, Happy to read you think "thats special!" :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you, Lou
