    Optimized Picopresso vs. Endgame Nomad will be covered in that video as well as travel usage. Mainly applicable for folks using both of these portable/travel machines as their home machine!

    Thanks for the video! I cant purchase IMS basket due to living in Russia, so I bought Wacaco 12gr basket. 36-40gr out in 20-25sec results really nice shot. More cleaner and sweeter than stock basket with classic recipe.

    If you hold the Picopresso the other direction with your palms and then use your fingers of both hands to pump I think you'll find it much easier to keep steady over the cup. I already got a puck screen for mine and found that it helped a lot. I'll look into getting the IMS basket!

    • @_kwak
      @_kwak 2 года назад +3

      Can confirm doing the inverted grip helps. Also, I find it not fully relegated to turbos, but that'll be a fun addition to the mix!

    • @u2bst1nks
      @u2bst1nks 2 года назад +5

      I find that interlocking your fingers and holding it in one hand and then using the palm of the other hand on the pump allows you to use your larger and stronger pectoral muscles instead of the forearm/gripping muscles. It's the least fatiguing method I've tried. Not sure why Wacacao decided to use a side pump instead of a top pump like their competitors (staresso, barsetto, etc...). It's far easier to use your bodyweight to pump from the top.

    personally i would scoop out the crema for the turbo shot as if you drank the turbo shot, the creamy texture isn't necessary, but flavor is, so think scooping the crema out helps getting rid of the unpleasant bitterness.

    Interesting, I've seen some folks on RUclips say they prefer the shots they get from the OG basket over the La Pavoni straight-walled basket. I guess there's really no accounting for taste.

  • @nerael
    @nerael Год назад +3

    Thanks for the recommend- I grabbed a straight wall basket that fits but now the tamper doesn't fit in there. Should I need to have to buy a separate tamper for the other basket?
    EDIT - did some measurements. for those of you who aren't yet espresso experts but picked up the pico and are learning it - if you replace the basket with a different diameter basket (both mine are '51mm' but they're different enough in half a mm), you will not be able to use the included tamper with the picopresso kit. (at least for me, the wacaco basket + tamper are just barely too big to neatly fit in+on the 51mm straight basket i got (HUGH IMS 51mm 'competition')

    May I ask a few questions?
    1. Even though it's a 15gm basket, do we have to dose less to fit in the screen?
    2. Does the Wacaco funnel fit the IMS basket?
    3. Are there any larger good straight wall baskets?
    Thanks again,

    • @BrianQuan
      @BrianQuan  2 года назад +3

      1. Dosing will depend on roast level of beans. If you're using lights then no problem.
      2. Yes the funnel fits.
      3. IMS makes a 18g basket! I like 14 because I can increase ratio.

      @@BrianQuan thanks kindly for answering! I saw a video where somebody uses a four cup screen (not IMS or VST sadly. :-( )
      She opens the top and refills it partway through the extraction. aside from the seeming triple blasphemy of buying a probably WORSE THAN STOCK screen, throwing temp stability out the window, and adding a mid-infusion after half the extraction... she likes being able to produce shots for guests arrive her campfire to drink together.
      she doesn't talk obsessively about the taste of the output, so we probably would not call her a "coffee bro". but she really treats the Pico as a more mod-able machine than I'd have ever thought it.
