just picked one of these up today along with two of my neighbors. We live a few miles apart and we can talk back and forth no problem. Very clear. Great little radio for the money.
You turn it on, and using the numbered key pad you enter 460 275 keep in mind this is the Santa Barbara dispach only so it will only work if youre in Santa Barbara.
Does this digital scanner actually pick up local pd and fire? What if its encrypted? I have a uniden bearcat 16 ch bc 144xl that i got new in 1997, now all I can pick up is weather! 😠
@@Blackdog57A lot of people are under the impression that most areas have gone digital, but that's not true. A large chunk of the country including my are as well as many surrounding counties still use analog communications. Is the Baofeng a great scanner? Compared to an actual scanner.....no, but it will get the job done if it's analog.
@jeffreyb6165 I had a Baofeng uv-5r and ( for scanner purposes) it's just a high tech version of my old Bearcat. It's a lot harder to put in channels and very clunky, IMO. As far as analog, you are lucky..everybody I talk to says their area has gone digital.
@@Blackdog57 What always gets me is when I see a video or post with someone claiming that these radios can't be used as scanners which is clearly false.
@@Thekoffrekup or a $400 BCD325P2 but you need to manually program I have one along with a Baofeng which I basically use for fireground traffic since it’s still Analog
A buddy of mine found six of them still in box in a scrap pile. All of them have lapel mics and headsets too 👍 Only question I have is how do you change the language on it. One speaks English the rest dont
Man, what luck. We just had a fire here in my town and was able to listen to all the updates live! Scroll in the menu using the arrows and it's buried in there.
