If Cher would’ve ended her reign early they would have had one week no.1s from Steps, Boyzone and Jay-Z on downloads as well if it had happened, at the time downloads were introduced in the chart in November 2004 and in the singles chart from April 2005, it was the CD and cassette single at the time when single buyers were scraping every week. The Mixtures, Janet Kay, Billy Fury, SL2, Shanice, and Judy Boucher would’ve had number ones only on a download for 99p well in this case it didn’t exist, only a download was for the PC at the time in 1998 and MP3 downloads would’ve been introduced at the turn of the year 2000 with Napster, Amazon and it wasn’t until the M4a was introduced in 2002.
“Limelight” was at number two for eight weeks in 1953 and “Moves Like Jagger” was at number one on iTunes in 2011 but in reality not in the official chart due to it being held off by a bunch of one week stint number ones for ten weeks.
Saturday 28th November 1998
Boyzone would get their fifth number one with When the Going Gets Tough and failed to get their third number one of the year of 1998 due to Cher holding on for a sixth week if downloads would have been included, they would have got to number one as well for their fans and Jay-Z would have got there the following week, but he’d had to wait until another five years for that Beyoncé collaboration.
Why did Jay-Z had to wait?
@@karlt134 he got pipped from the number one position by Cher in December 1998 with Hard Knock Life, he had a couple of top ten and top twenty hits though between the next five years.
@@Glamking1 four years actually not five
@@karlt134 it would be almost four years later cos it was the summer of 2003 when Jay-Z did have the first of his three chart toppers in the UK and the first two was his future wife Beyoncé Knowles and the notable other was a collaboration between Kanye West and Rihanna, when he had his only chart-topper as a solo artist.
@@Glamking1 you got it wrong
The Space single was on the chart as The Bad Days EP
