I already have a different brand of 3 stage car seat, but replaced it with this Joie every stage because this can be used as ERF Extended Rear Facing for a toddler. Seems like a really good seat. I'm impressed with the amount of customisable padding and also by the pop-out bumpers on the sides for added protection.
Many thanks for these instructions - as grandparents we have to grapple with changing up to toddler mode (large toddler in fact) during Covid restrictions in readiness for informal childcare (hopefully) and this has helped a lot. As you say, the instruction book isn't all that user friendly.
We just bought one, and with this seat we actually have it possible to have 3 car seats in the back of our Hyundai i30, wich was impossible with a normal infant car seat(we have a britax King 2 and a maxi cosi 2way peal, that had to fit in to) This seat just spared is from having to but eighter a new car or a Multimac seat
Hi, great video! Can I ask, when the seat belt is used in rear facing mode (for my toddler) does the "lap" part sit visibly across the seat of the car seat? I.e. does the kid effectively sit on the car's seat belt? Thanks :-)
Hi Nicola - it's an old video so I am casting my mind back as my kids are now in boosters! From memory, no. I think the belt feeds through the back of the seat.
Its a great seat, Its also worth nothing it can be used rear facing up too 18 kg which is what I am doing with my daughter. It also has side impact support which can be popped out on the side of the seat too. Informative video, than you.
Very helpful video. I have a question, when the seat is installed in "toddler mode" can you still recline the seat? Its not very clear in most of the videos I've seen.
thanks for great overview. I'm thinking about buying one of these and wonder how you'd rare the comfort of the seat, especially the padding over the buckle compartments? also did/do you use it rear facing in toddler mode? I just can't picture where child's legs go in that case :/
Okay last question first! You would tip the seat right back in toddler mode. This way their legs would be in a similar position to a rear facing pushchair. To note though, my kids are too old so I didn't use it like that. As for comfort, no complaints from my kids. In fact one of them specifically asks to go in this seat over a rival brand's. I take that to be a good sign.
How do you adjust the straps to become higher for the toddler mode?? cause I’ve been searching how it is worked but there’s only 1 pair of straps holes in the seat. I mean her shoulders are seems not comfortable with it
Hello from Malaysia! I need help badly. I took my Joie car seat out and wash to get it clean, I removed all the cushion but now when I put them back, the belt doesn't seem to back in place! It became so hard to adjust to loosen or tighten it. Need your guidance please? Thanks in advanced!
Hi there - this is not an issue I have personally faced. I think you may need to contact Joie directly. I am an independent blogger / vlogger and don't work for the company. Sorry I can't help further.
Just purchased one of these and wanted to install it as rear facing. It seems the seat belt is just not long enough to reach around the back of it and then meet the seat belt socket. Not sure what to do!
How do i adjust the harness without moving the headrest. The head rest is far too high for him when the straps are in the right position.. Does not look right at all. Can you help?
I wouldnt recomend this car seat. Since day one the straps have been a major issue and they are not user friendly at all. 2 years in now and the straps are completly frayed and nearly beyond use!!!
John Thanks for this, we have the Isofix version, i have no idea to the shoulder harness looser at is too tight and we can not fit our son in, battling to get it looser. any ideas please
It is a very solid car seat and heavier than others I have used, yes. I couldn't tell you the exact weight but with weight you do get a sturdy product.
I obviously can't give you a legal opinion, but the seat can be used rear-facing so should be fine to use from hospital (assuming that's legal in your country / state).
The seat is fitted into the car. It's not one of those that you carry a baby in. They only last a few months. This is suitable for taking baby home from the hospital
Not the best guide. Features mentioned are all very unimportant and important features missed. This seat has an 18kg rearfacing limit. The panels to the side which were never mentioned are side impact wings for added side impacts protection. It is worth noting that this seat didn't test well in forward facing mode when using the harness and so should only be used rearfacing (within the weight limit and harness height allowances. A child should rearface upto at least age 4 due to bone development but most children aren't mature enough to use a high back booster until nearer to age 5 so if you have a high centile child, get a longer lasting rearfacing seat. Facebook support groups are your friend. Rear Facing Car Seat Safety can support you to choose the best seat, tailored to your child's growth centile line.
Thank you for the video. I watched it and adjusted my child's seat accordingly.

Thanks John. We've just bought one and read the manual which left us unsure but this video has cleared it up.
Thanks Claire, always good to het this kind of feedback. Glad the video was useful to you.
Fab, thanks. Will be purchasing one based on your overview and a bit of safety research.x

Thank you. Looking to buy this. Love the fact that it runs from 0-12years
Yes, the fact it cover such a large age range is very useful.
Many thanks for this superb video. Keep up the awesome work

+Calvin Dioneo Thanks for watching and your question. In toddler mode, yes you can.I hope you find that useful.

Thanks for clearing it up for me. It's definitely on my short list now :)
Good quality product. Correct, fast transport service.
Ty for your time!
Does it not come with the pushing thing, if no can you buy it separately?

Thanks mate, great video
Glad you liked it, it has proven to be quite popular.
How do you remove the straps to add an anti escape clip please
Thanks for this!
How do i adjust the harness without moving the headrest. The head rest is far too high for him when the straps are in the right position.. Does not look right at all. Can you help?
From memory, it's been a while since I've had to do this, you have to move the headrest to adjust the harness.
Does this car seat has Isofix brackets to click in to the back car seat??
We have minor issues with straps, they keep falling off toddler’s shoulder and she can easily pull her arm out.
So do I . Straps are a nightmare
Hi john does joie every stage can fit in small car ? Thanks Jagwinder
Oh yes. I have used them in Peugeot 208 without any problems.
***** Thanks for your feedback. We use two of these in our small car and It is snug, yes, but then we find that with all car seats.
Hi please help me my babies car sit shoulder belts are too tight I can't even put my babies hands in them how do i make them loose and to be normal ?
Great video! Is this for the Pumice model?
I wouldnt recomend this car seat. Since day one the straps have been a major issue and they are not user friendly at all. 2 years in now and the straps are completly frayed and nearly beyond use!!!

Try pulling the strap away from the padding. It should do the trick. Hope it helps.
How do you *loosen* the straps? Our son is 6wo and we could cry with frustration!!
There's a button below the leg strap hidden under the fabric, if your press down and pull the harness straps it should losen.
Hallo😊 Do you know if it fits in a Toyota Aygo 2006??
I can't say for certain, but I see no reason why it shouldn't.
Does it recline?
hiya iv washed my covers and can't seem to figure out how to securely put the straps back through please help xx
Without seeing your car seat I can't really help. I'm not actually employed by Joie so you might be best contacting the company directly.
é boa mesmo ?
Is this a heavy car seat?
It is a very solid car seat and heavier than others I have used, yes. I couldn't tell you the exact weight but with weight you do get a sturdy product.
john adams many thanks for replying and so quick! I was hoping that it would be quite heavy as, like you say, would be sturdier. Thanks again
How do you unfasten it
are these acceptable when you take the baby home from the hospital. is there a handle?
I obviously can't give you a legal opinion, but the seat can be used rear-facing so should be fine to use from hospital (assuming that's legal in your country / state).
john adams I'm in the UK

Can you please tell me where it was tested for badly forward facing? I'd like to read it myself :)
you more like Bill Hader man!
Not to recommend very difficult
Very helpful video for this complicated piece of shit
