In the wild and dark of endless days
seeking refuge
from fear’s pull and sway
I saw the lantern light
that led the way to
Your love, the open door
Encased in winter
and relentless cold
worn-out sweater,
embers growing old
Longing for a blaze of
Warmth I might hold
Your love, the open door
Come and sit
on your kitchen floor
Have a drink or two
Warm my hands and light my heart
where love and fire burn true
Safe in this season
Of slow passing tears
I find the way to lean into these fears
knowing that the bitter cold disappears
