This takes me back to my 2001 525i 5-spd, I would park it close to the 130 mph/210 kmh limiter across rural parts of the Western US in 5th gear for extended periods of time. The M54 was sitting around 5.5k rpms, but you would never know it.
I own a 530i F11 Touring with manual transmission, 3.0l NA, the last of its kind! Beautiful engine, sometimes it needs some love, but we never get these iconic engines back... fuel consumption is about 10l /100km at city and highway driving
@@filipprojcheski It's good engine, it's far more reliable and cheper to maintain then 2.0 and after remap 3.0 generates 270-280HP with 315+NM of torque (from factory it's highly software limited, it's closing throttle body and reduce ignition advance at higher RPM, probably not to compete with 2.0 which they wanted to sell more).
@@pioner4692 Yeah watch tons of videos on it in the past few days and I like it a lot. There is 523i xdrive on sale close to me, looks very tempting now.
Most likely trip computer was reset and it is calculating average consumption over distance driven during test drive. You can see instantaneous consumption in lcd panel under rev counter. Over time it will average 9-10L/100km or whatever is the average for this motor.
interesting, but the consumption is very high, is not a 4.4 V8, is only a 3.0.. .at 120-130 kmh you should have around 10l/100km... IMO..the rpm was high too, 2700-2800rpm at 130.. only if you drive in the 5th gear probably..

At 6:20 you are on a expressway with a speed limit of 100 km/h (see yellow signs) and you are driving over 200 km/h. Only from 7:40 you are on the Autobahn (blue signs) and unlimited. I'd rather cut that out! 😉
So refreshing to see anything apart from 2.0 D in F10!

Timeless design. And seeing 1670KG for a 5 series is so weird now 😅
This model wasn't produced for very long so it's quite rare
didn't knew these were 3.0L NA, I thought 2.0 twin scroll turbo
Because it's one of the first models (pre LCI) - since the Facelift ('12/'13) this engine was not aviable anymore
Sorry for my bad english 😊
@@alexbu.596 It is a great engine btw, not the most efficient but NA is NA.
Your english is great friend.

True words - NA is NA
Thanks and have a nice Weekend

6:10 omgg that was nice
High consumption
Car is quite heavy + RWD. But yes, at 120-130 km/h I would expect no more than 10L/100 on average not 13

Not the fastest but magnificent sound OH MY!
6:10 ❤
Crazy long gearing
You mean short
@@99a21 Actually, they're very long, 160kmh in 3rd gear! Also consider that it was in 5th gear of six during the max speed test...
@@Carlod75 3000 rpm at 130 and 6th gear is ridiculously high.
@@99a21 I totally disagree and anyway it's 2800rpm at 130.
523i 3.0l ????
Yes 2996 cm3 i thought it was 2.5 liter but this one is 3.0liter
It's the N53B30 engine... Pre LCI (one of the first models)

in 3:25 , he is driving constantly at 130kmh, and you can see, that the consumption AT THIS MOMENT is only around 7l/100km, it is not high!

A little bit underpowered, 2.2 e60 had 170ps, 2.5 192ps.
The facelift would had been nice with the 340i engine, the one with 326ps or 360ps factory.
This engine is software limited, after remap it generates ~270-280HP and over 315Nm.
Uau

there is no speed limit sign. what are you talking about
There is no speed limit since there is no sign and it is a road with a barrier in the middle.
2.5L
No this one has 3.0 liter. I checked on registration paper .
3,0l
2.5L for asian markets, 3.0 for europe
This car have problem watch fuel economy 14.0l/100km
