- Hey guys! I know that you've all have been waiting for this series from the teaser video! As I've mentioned, this is a series I've been preparing for in the last few months--TRABAHO. 🇵🇭🇰🇷
Though there is no clear history, sari-sari stores were believed to have started back during the Spanish period or when the Philippines-Chinese trade began. Even so, sari-sari stores were an integral part of the Filipino culture and economy and will continue to be so.
Sari-sari stores are everywhere in the country, in rural and urban areas, and provide Filipino families a source of income for their daily needs. It’s a staple in every neighborhood. “Sari” translates to “variety” and so if you need a household good quickly, just walk a few houses down and you can buy whatever you need at a sari-sari store. It was also where the titas talk about the latest news or the titos would hang out, or where the children come to rest after playing. Sari-sari stores, in many ways, represented a sense of community.
In the first episode I try to be a SARI SARI store TINDERA for a day. Check out the episode to see what I have to share with you guys. 🙌 I really hope you guys enjoy it.
What job should I try next?

Really loved this video! Took me back to my childhood when I was still living in Cavite where I would always go to sari-sari stores to buy different kinds of chips and candies. The realization that everything's slowly shifting online hit me hard. There IS something really special about having human interaction when buying from a sari-sari. Thanks, Jessica for this series! Can't wait for more!!! Would love to see you as a Jollibee crew for an episode ☺ More power to you!

It's awesome how Jessica can think out of the box. Most foreigners would find it hard to vlog these days. Since its pretty hard to travel these days there's less travel vlogs now and food vlogs you can see everywhere but here comes Jessica coming up with something new. So proud to see you grow! Been a follower since 100k and never skipped a video ever since!
I like how Ate Jessica dive deeper into Filipino culture and wanting to experience it by herself not just reading or watching it 😍🥰
I love the way she integrate into our culture and the honesty in her demeanor
As a Filipino, I love that Jessica truly embodies both Filipino and Korean cultures and fully embraces them
shes more of a 60% filipina: 40% koreana
So much fun.. keep it up
400
Additional info, sari-sari store was built to cater to the poor and give retail option since most grocery stores are far, items are in high prices and can only be bought in bulk.
Jessica's reaction is really cute. the way she said Libre and she's getting better and better in her tagalog.
I LOVE THE FACT THAT SHE INCLUDES "TITA'S TALK FOR THE LATEST NEWS" THATS A ACCURATE ANALYZATION RIGHT THERE. GOOD JOB JESSICA. KUDOS FOR INCLUDING THOSE MARITESS 🤣🤣
I'm a Filipino and I was taking our culture for granted. I wasn't really fond of the toxic filipino culture. But after binge watching Jessica's vlogs, I learned to appreciate the positive and beautiful side of things. This new series is awesome and it highlights one of the modern heroes of our day, the frontliner sari sari store "ate".
I really believe Jessica will be on the "Most Influencial People in Asia" list someday. I admire you and everything you stand for! Hope we see each other someday since we are literally neighbors and just a few blocks away. :)
love this comment!
i don''t think it's in her channels best interest to feature the toxic side of our culture anyway.. hahah.. Although I would like to see a video about "why I don't like living in the Philippines" from her as an outsider (like many channels have about Korea).
@@mirieshii1948 It would be interesting..
@@siegfreidsujide299 i think she's scared that it will get backlash. Haha
@@mirieshii1948 No question, she will recieve hate. You know the internet haha. But the way she delivers the topic would piqeu my curiosity since she's a very smart woman who's excellent at story telling. But I don't want her mental health to suffer. She shared that she already had a mental breakdown in one of her vlogs back in Korea.
I love how jessica made an intro about the history/origin about sari - sari store. I never expected that kind od content. So excellent!!!
I enjoy watching your video
Yes . Love her vlogs, she always put an effort to all of her episodes.
The way Jessica give the customer exchange is very korean and also respectful .
I love how Jessica explains the history about sari sari store, me personally I don’t know that lol 😂
EARLYYYY!!🥰 Grabe effort mo just to provide/create quality contents to your viewers! Just know we appreciate you and what you do so muchhh. We love uuuu ate Jessica!❤️
Sa true lang😍 grabe no ang effort
Agree!!
Jessica, omg, literally rolling on the floor laughing while watching this hahaha you made my night so fun. Tuloy mo lang sis. Super hardworking. Enjoy the rest of the trabaho series!
literal po ba? hahhaa may vid po ba?
Weh? Literal?
It's not really funny but fun in a moderate way... it's not kind of fun like you're watching funny videos... it's that kind of fun that is inspiring or just makes you happy...in this video what is the part where it's so funny that you literally rolling on the floor?
@@user-easthieve hahhaha what's wrong with you guys its you commenttators are really funny
Pics or did not happen daw hehe..
I never knew watching someone sell in a sari-sari store would be so fun! I remember also selling in my tita's sari-sari store whenever she needs to buy products for the sari-sari store. I remember panicking whenever I cannot find the product they buy or when I did not know the product hehe.😚
This video had me laughing my ass out alone in my room. Jessica is unintentionally funny and with her kaconyohan AHAHHAHAHA. More of this kind of video.
this is what we call ✨QUALITY CONTENT ✨ more power ate Jessica! Grabe the amount of effort and hard work put into this. Definitely gonna look forward more from this series. ❤️

Man, I miss going to my neighbourhood's sari-sari store and bakery. My mom would ask me to buy pan de sal, soft drinks, sometimes vinegar, soy sauce, and patis lol I loved buying chips and pancit canton when I was a kid. I'll make sure to stop by at one the next time I visit the Philippines. Loved the nostalgia 🥰
So excited for this series! Really love the concept, can't wait for the next one! 😄
Her efforts to do this series made me smile alot. Pang tulong sa mga small business, nakaka-inspire ako mag tulong sa iba kahit konti lang. Thank you Jessica Unnie 💗
Ganda ng series :)
This series captures the different aspect of Filipino Culture. Halos lahat ng ibang YT videos about Filipino Culture are about Language, Food, History, and tourist destination. Pero yung Trabaho ng mga ordinaryong Pinoy katulad ng Tindera sa Sari-Sari store o Karibderya, Barker at Driver ng Jeep o Tricycle, Taga-deliver ng Tubig, Kargador sa Palengke. These are also part of our Culture and we engage with them on a day to day basis. They are essential to the society.
Excited na ako sa Next Episode. Sana ma try niyo maging assistant ng Jeepney Driver. "Oh Cubao Cubao Cubao!", "Pakiabot po ng Bayad. Saan eto? Ilan?"
Hahaha
Love what you do, embracing Filipino language, custom, the willingness to learn and immerse yourself sincerely... you're awesome
seeing this kind of content is so refreshing, brings me back to my childhood when we have a small sari sari store with karinderya and it's kinda nostalgic 🥺❣️
I love how Jessica speaks English to Tagalog it's like very conyo but the cute type and I love how some of her words are like super Filipino 😆 As a tindera myself, I love this content❤️
what if collab sila ni Ryan bang HAHHAHAHAHA
This pilot episode is great~ I love how everything is carefully planned, and as usual, there's always useful information like how a vlog should be. The best part of this episode is how honest the ate/manang was with the change, especially how we're learning more with the culture. There's so much to learn, real life is just a blown up school where we're in charge of what we want to learn. I give this 10 gumamelas out of 10.
Congratulations, Jessica and to your whole team~~~
Suggestion for future episodes that you might want to consider, but its completely fine if its not feasible:
-If given the chance, can you please do farming strawberries in La Trinidad or in Baguio City?
-Cooking/Making chicharon (Either Carabao or pig) in some factory
-Karinderyahan
Yes ate jessica punta ka baguio lalo na mag susummer tas mag pitas ka ng straeberry na fav mo
Bentahan ng Halo Halo sa summer
I really love the growth of your channel Jessica. Really love how you express your thoughts so sincere and honest. I hope you continue making good quality contents like these. Thank you!
You can now experience how hard the work of Pinoy & Pinay .
Nice episode, next time try to be a Philippines Tourist Guide to your fellow Korean tourists. This will show how you well know the country's rich history and perhaps will open a door of opportunity for you since you know how to speak and understand the 3 languages (Korean, Tagalog and English).
I really enjoyed watching your Trabaho series Jessica. Napaka entertaining mo panoorin .You turned my sad day into joy.. 😉🥰❤❤❤
. stay safe and Healthy always . Fighting!! Love you Jessica 💚💓💚..🇵🇭🇰🇷
Quality content Jessica! Doing the immersion thing 👏🏼 (seal clap from me). This connects me to my childhood too since my Lola (i call her Nanay) also had a sari-sari store. For me, it reminds me of sugared lemon candies and butter ball
I love jessica the way she love our filipino cultures. Love you jessica.
Ate Jesica, I'd like to suggest that your future career series be selling flowers, and I'd like to express my gratitude for your efforts to teach our culture and reminisce about our childhood. Thank you very much.
I really love the way na inaabot nya sa customer yung mga binili with her two hands as sign of respect♡
nasa culture din kase ng mga koreans yon eh. I really admire her and her videos ❤️
I already love this series of yours
really loving this series, looking forward for more!

Napaka honest na costumer ni ate . Nakakaproud .
I'm proud of you Jess . thank you of this series of yours. Mabuhay ka!! At kudos to your team 💚💓💚🇵🇭🇰🇷

Jessica you have to come back and do a part 2 of this once you've done a round of other jobs. Would be a nice way to see how you've grown while looking back to your other experiences. Really fun video! Congrats and stay safe!

Jessica didn't fail us, the quality from trailer to this is grabe! The videography and editing are very entertaining. The "HAHAHAHA BOBO" got me 🤯😂
Kudos to the whole team and of course to Jessica. Excited na ko for the next episode, good bye kdrama na.
Charizz. 😂
Jesssicaaaaaa! This video was a great way to start your "Trabaho" series! I was glued from start to finish. I shared in your excitement, panic, pride, desperation, etc. & other emotions you were going through. Yes, my heart goes out to those sari-sari stores that are an integral part of every barangay. I loved the way you interacted with the owner and her customers. You are very respectful, humorous, humble, and have this overall pleasant disposition. So sad that South Korea is having a terrible time with the pandemic. Infections are soaring through the roof! Wish your family is safe! 🧡
I love the first episode. Soooo happy you're finally back here in PH!!!
Jessica always fun when posting. I love every minute of it. Like a typical pretty Filipina.
I died laughing when she said "HAHAHAHA bobo" HAHAHAHAHHAA VERY FILIPINOOOO, I love how the vibrant the vibe this video gives me in away and rooting for more and more episodes of this series, 화이팅, ate Jessica!
this is quality content. i love how jessica goes out of her comfort zone and try things which ordinary filipinos do.
Jessica you're the best!I'm so proud of you❤️
I enjoy watching this video. Very nostalgic as I grew up in the Philippines, brings back all these familiar feelings and nostalgia. Congrats!
Math always play a crucial part in sari-store haha! I also experienced working in some convenience store and it has always been hard at first but for the second to third day, you'll gonna use to it. Love this trabaho series and I hope this series will include "pagtatanim" or working in the farm to give our hardworking farmers a platform and spotlight for them to get recognized. 😊😊
I concur. Would she be able to do the job especially during the humid months though?
@@joc7996 that's the challenge
Feels like im watching a tv show. Everything is excellent. Hands down for the effort for such meaningful content.
She's so polite, the way she hand the change with 2 hands ❤️
Fightinggg!! we can all do things by trying..good luckk!!
This took me back to my college days when I needed to help my aunt with their sari-sari store. It's really a proud moment whenever you get the hang of it, attending to each of the customers despite how many they are haha
I'm lovin' this new series. Pilot episode is really nice. Thank you Jessica for learning more about Filipino culture or fusing Filipino and Korean culture together, it's just really nice.
I love this concept ateeee. Hope this continues. keep it uppp ateeee
Just found this series tonight and i already binge watch all the episodes. Couldn't stop watching it
JESSICA FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE COUNTING IN TAGALOG. SO CUUUUUTE!!! The whole video was so fun and enjoyable! 💕
Ahahaha true.. She's like isa, dalawa, apat forgot about tatlo😂🤣
Jessica makes me proud of being a Filipino. You’re truly a Filipino by heart, Jes. Love the new concept of your vids. Ang galing! 💜
Nakakaaliw Kac. Of all the bloggers about Philippines you’re one of those who genuinely n honestly loves the people there the Filipinos. Thank you. You’re a sweet girl.
Galing mo ate Jessica , you're my favorite vlogger 😍✨
Wow! Jessica, I am so proud of you. Congratulations on your Trabaho Series episode 1. I love it! Thank you for loving the Philippines and showing our culture to the world. Sometimes I forgot about our culture but through your vlogs I remember it and learn to appreciate it more. Love you magandang binibini 🤗
Her Tagalog sounds native.. so pretty tindera nmn ni Jessica and cute.. her laugh is music to anyone's heart and ear ❤️
Cutieeee. Super goodvibes naman netooo 🥺😍 i hope to see u soonnnn omg
Good job,Jessica...I like your humbleness. The filipina side of your heart will stay with you forever.💞
I'm so proud of you Jessica, you really exerted time and effort to experience being a tindera in a sari-sari store. As a foreigner doing that makes me proud as a Filipino, thank you for loving your second home country so much. God bless
7:31 I like it when Jessica always remember her childhood through eating Filipino food.
There is full of heart truly in your contents, it never disappoints as always. Surely majority of your Filipino subscribers were moved or touched in one way or the other. Thank you and please yes continue this kind of series. 1 more thing, as I observed growing up in Philippines, we see it delightfully when a foreigner tries our culture even when you are having hard time especially with the language. That’s why in little ways people buying in the sari-sari store tends to help even in little ways.
Been watching her vlogs since the start of the pandemic, and I must say that this is my favorite among all her vids. Ang saya lang, nakakahappy and good vibes. Nakakamiss din pala magtinda since we used to have a sari sari store din when I was a kid.
Jessica is so cute HAHAHA I can't--. First episode pa lang ang dami ko ng tawa.😂 And I really like your perspective about different Filipino culture or sari-sari store culture in particular. You are always well-spoken, I admire you a lot. Looking forward for the next one and stay safe Jessica!♥
i like this series jessica. i mean, you can explore anything here in ph. i feel like im watching a tv. haha. More of this pls hehe.
Binge watch the trabaho series . Good Job Jessica for making these kind of videos . Actually this is really nice and we want to see more to all of vloggers . It somehow understand the value of some workers and their hardships in life but at the same time you will enjoy and you learn to get more about yourself and other people as well by doing this. This is really a breath of fresh air for any vloggers . I really like the low-key vloggers like this . Keep doing and you really inspired everyone Jessica. 💗
Hmm.... for suggestions just to mention some few:
-Department Store Saleslady
-Promodizer (the one giving out flyers/brochures)
-Grocery Cashier
-Wet Market Vendor
-Karinderya works (cashier/waitress/dishwasher)
-Street Food Vendor (Yakult, or Fishballs etc)
The quality of how you defined the Sari-Sari Store is really impressive. The art is also good. Thank you, Jessica!
I certainly agree when you said that "Sari sari stores represented a sense of community." We owned a sari sari store when I was young, and I've seen people just drop by to get some stuff while enjoying a simple "chika". It can be a Al Fresco bar or chilling place to a tambayan or a place to chill until it's closing time. I miss that for sure.
THE QUALITY GRABE! so much effort in putting up this whole show, from the story background, to the graphics, also the random joketime, kudos to the editor and anyone behind the pop-ups. jessica herself also is easily lovable, like I'm new this channel but your content just makes me binge watch this whole series. i love it!
aww.. I like how Jessica still kept her Korean manners - handing off and receiving from customers 👍🏻 you rock! Keep it up 👍🏻
finally!!! Jessica lee's Trabaho series is out now ... nice series jess and Team..episode 1 palang ang Ganda na.. 😍😍 looking forward to the other episodes.
I remembered the time I took a part time job in a convenience store .. Pag maraming customers especially pag sunday , I don't even smile na , the sweat , you have to move quickly but it's a good experience . What amazing was I memorized all the prices of the product from whole sale to tingi ..I feel you Jessica..Well done ❤❤❤
Ang saya!!! Good job, Jessica!
I'm so proud of you ate Jessica ❤️🥰more Blessings to you po
Very well made episode. I really do love the concept of this series. Out of all foreign youtubers that talks about ph or shows interests in Ph, only Jessica dives deeper into it. Kudos to you and to your team.
I love how you structure an art-like content, like this one! You deserve more recognition Jessica, you always provide quality content and it shows how hardworking you are as a creator/youtuber! Can't wait for the next one hehe
And we're so happy to watch you doing this, Jessica. I like this new content. Nakakaaliw Tagalog mo, and you never lose your "po" and "opo".
NOSTALGIC!!! I also frequently go to a sari-sari store when I was younger. This is so wholesome and somewhat relatable content! Fighting Jessica-ssi!!!
The editing, I'm dying lol. This series is really interesting and entertaining so far, can't wait for future eps! And props to you as always for showing and educating your viewers on Filipino culture from your perspective. I've been following you since Idol School and I really like your channel
Korean tv show style.. nakakatuwa talaga 😁
I like this video of you working as a sari-sari store vendor. I feel your panic whenever there is a huge amount of customers at the store especially buying multiple items one by one and it’s a bit confusing to familiarize the price of each items. At the end of the day it’s exhausting but it’s a rewarding and good experience for you that you’re able to adopt the culture in the Philippines.
See you on your next episode like this. Stay safe and take care. 😊
Ok lang po yan ganyan talaga pag di pa masyadong nasasanay hehehe galing mo mag tagalog nakakatuwa☺️❤️🇵🇭🇰🇷
*Jessica, you're always on your funniest and cutest mode when you try to speak pure Tagalog 😃*
Thank you for appreciating Philippine culture than most of us filipino. I hope you'll be more successful in life
been anticipating this series since i saw this on your IG miss jess, what an effort and your content is very informative entertaining and addicting, you have not posted for more than a week and this is worth a wait...thanks jess, btw that bread with sugar sprinkled is called "bichokoy" or "bitso bitso" in ilonggo
