which one would you recomend on cracking? I making leather armor and I am glueing leather together I am worried about it cracking
If I was doing a project like that, I would use the Tanner's Bond Rubber Cement
@@weirdducksstudio thank you and what about gluing fabric to leather making the same thing would it still be good?
muy buena información ✅✅
¡Me alegro de que lo hayas encontrado útil! Gracias por el comentario
This comparison really tells the story. Have you tried the Barge Infinity Cement PRIMER, or some other primer? Wondering if it is necessary for a shoe sole regluing effort. Rubberized Continental sole to a leather base on a 1980s German military boot. I think Red and Yellow Barge is what I need for that mission.
Anybody else please chime in too, thanks.
Another comment on here talked about Jet Set. I haven't used it, but I might get some and do an eval.
Barge yellow can. Old school and the only way to go. …Don’t inhale.
The yellow can is my go to for most projects. BTW, I like your YT handle!
@@weirdducksstudio Haha, thanks. 👍
I'm a new leather crafter, and I was pleased to see this video. I purchased Barge All Purpose Cement to bond two pieces of leather together that I am using for the sole of a pair of Moccasins. After seeing this video I am sure that the Barge APC will work better than I had expected. Thank You
I am so glad you found this video helpful. I really enjoy the craft.
If im glueing fabric to a leather shoe which one would you use?
Hi @Izzy-hm4zn - I would use the Red and Yellow label Barge, unless there is a chance that the glue could show. Then I would use the Green Label Barge. Thanks for the question!
Super helpful, thanks so much for such a clear and thorough comparison!
Your welcome Julia. I am glad the video was helpful!
Thank you. Great help.
I am glad you found it helpful! Thank you for the comment!
I would like to see barge all purpose against jet set
Thanks for the comment! I will see about getting some Jet Set and doing an eval!
Which is the one you have to reheat to activate?
Great question! Based on research, Barge products do reactivate under heat. In this demonstration, no heat was required to use the products. More information on Barge products can be found here: bit.ly/3XS0o4U
Ok thank you. I have notice people reheat the barge infinity after like 7 minutes but not the all purpose one. Wasn't sure if there was a reason.
Thank you for contributing to the conversation. Upon heating, liquids flow more easily. So, in my opinion, tanners that need the glue to set deep into the leather may choose to heat the cement. I would suggest experimenting with some scrap leather, like what we did in the video, and observing the result. I have used heat to help pull leather apart in repairs.
@@weirdducksstudio thank you so much!
Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo qui m'a bien été utile 😉
Merci d'avoir regardé la vidéo. Je suis content que cela vous ait aidé.
Thank you for the most helpful video!!

Thank so much, have a shoe project to work on and I was looking for something strong!
@buttakreme803 Oh you made my heart happy! The reason I made the video is for viewers just like YOU! I hated that I had to learn the hard way, but comments like yours made it worth it!

Why some people wait for the glue to dry and reheat it with heat gun, is it neccessary? I try to reglue the sole of my running shoes, I done some research snd its better to use Polyurethane glue instead of rubber based contact cement, but how should i glue it, just wait 5 minutes then stick them together or use the reheat method? Is Polyurethane glue a type of contsct cement as well?
I am sure by now you are figured this out, but for others who maybe asking the same question. - Polyurethane glue is not the same as contact cement. While contact cement creates an immediate bond when pressed together, polyurethane glue requires curing time and works differently by expanding slightly as it dries. It also has waterproof properties, making it perfect for running shoe repair. Using clamps, you create pressure, which is a small degree of heat. Then you can't clamp, hand pressure and heat guns help move that glue into all the good spots to get the best seal. You really need to make sure the surfaces are clean of any dirt or power like debris.
I see, thanks for the info, ere yo learn all these? I researched for weeks and still can't be very sure about my finding, pressure mean heat, that's understandable but do you mean I should clamp or not clamp? Clamp since it isn't instant? But then the way you say it like heat isn't good for the curing but then you say heating more like with heatgun will make the gluing better, sorry I got confused there. What I found is Nike and might be other brands too use polyurethane glue and not rubber based contact cement, that's why even tho I bought both kind of glue, I decided to go with polyurethane glue, I thought to make a video to show why one should choose Polyurethane glue over the rubber based contact adhesive glue, but then my finding is not very clear so I not sure how to make the video without giving wrong info
Where you learned all these*
Omg, it been 4 months since I left my shoes there to research, time fly, my youth is costy and if I don't use my time wisely and efficiently each second, I will waste more...
@@NetvoTV If it was me, I would fashion new soles. I wouldn't attempt a repair. I would basically make a new shoes by decontructing the old ones and attempt to reuse the top. I have done it with leather boots. I have never attempted it with a shoe like Nike. If it is a mostly leather shoe, I think it would be worth the attempt.
@@NetvoTV The best source of information for me was the Tandy Leather Store. They have employees with lots of experience. There are few good RUclipsrs out there that have 10x times more experience then I did.
Bad audio
Well, @edward19722009, thanks for the studio critique. I will see if I can improve.
