If I was to pick a video to demonstrate what your channel is about this fits the bill perfectly. Fantastic shots of gorgeous scenery. It’s amazing the amount of engineering that went into the canals before the railways appeared. Like many branch lines I imagine lots get overgrown and are now disused? The title drew me in to watch this one 😀
Cheers Greg. The Staffs and Worcs was indeed lovely. A lot of the old canals became derelict, not so much branch lines as such just that a lot of them became disused and overgrown when the whole network stopped being used. Since the boom in leisure use, the main ones are maintained and there are lots of volunteers trying to re-open old routes. I did a vlog about a similar topic last winter but can't remember offhand which vlog it was, maybe vlog 80; I imagine you'd enjoy that one.
Shorter in duration but still high quality. I always enjoy your channel because of the content, smooth editing, easy music, and beautiful scenery. Of course, your polished, professional voice is also a nice touch. Don't get me wrong: I do enjoy the channels of other narrowboat owners but yours is, by far, my favorite. Once again, job well done.
+ Voklst We even have limestone too... But then again, since the UK and North America were once part of the same geological continent (Pangaea) it's really not surprising.
I'm looking forward to your next vlog. Many years ago my wife and I did Stourport to Gloucester and back in a week, the week before Live Aid I recall. Mooring was carefully planned, as i'm sure yours will be. But 19 years ago we moved to Malvern and have frequently visited the places where we tied up for the night! The Yew Tree Inn is a good one, next to the Avon Sailing Club (why it's called Avon when it's on the Severn is a mystery!). Keep up the good work!
love how everything is built up around the canal, like the house at the very end with a window open right on the water. When I see all the old constructions in UK, I get the impression that it was all built in some era when cost was no object, and the only concern was to build things as good as they could possibly be.
It is cruising the cut season. Now that I am not so busy from the summer activities I have time to catch up. Really amazing stuff. This is so well produced. Such quality.
Very beautiful landscape, it must be a relaxing journey though landscape. Just enjoy what you see and take the time needed. Thank you for sharing your amazing video
I like your video essay style of narration. makes your videos so peaceful and relaxing. You seem to do it more in the later videos I can see the say you have honed your skills over the months.
Oh forgot to mention fab video, were hoping to go out on the Severn again next Spring and turn off at Worcester so was lovely to see how pretty it looks......
Started watching your Vlog back at the begining of August (2019), usually a few episodes a night while having dinner! Don't know what I'll do when I've caught up! Anyway as a Worcestershire resident and originally from Kidderminster too, I thought I couldn't let this episode go by without making a comment. It is particuarly nice to see ones home town in a more pleasant light than it is usally seen in, although as volunteer at the Severn Valley Railway it was a great pitty that a train wasn't going over Falling Sands viaduct as you passed below but you can't have everything!
Yes, so enjoyably relaxed, thanks. I've found that if I'm pressed for time, I can watch your vlogs at x1.5 speed and your voice is still just on the right side of "normal" sounding! A little less laid back I know but it still works for me.
Very COOL!!! Man you got to love the LOOK of those Sandstone cuts and just how the vegetation is growing to cover and blend in. Things just SO green there!
I know you can't possibly stop at all or even most of these adorable canalside tearooms and pubs but would you consider reviewing a couple of your favorites? Take us through the interiors and all
Probably won't, partly as I don't really have any favourites as such but partly because I don't want the channel to be a general tourism vlog but concentrate on canals and narrowboats.
@@CruisingTheCut that makes sense. Would you then consider shooting more video when you stop at a place for the afternoon? Not just on the boat looking out but from the towpath looking back at the boat and the canals. I always see lots of pretty paths when you're going past and it would be nice to see some footage from a different angle so to speak.
I really wouldn't. I spend way more time than I'd like hunched over the laptop editing the vlogs as it is, I haven't got the energy to shoot and edit any more. Sorry! The idea of getting the boat was to chill out...
Another great vlog David , beautiful scenary i love the the houses especially the big white one. I noticed 6 seconds into the video on the left of sreen a very large splash, I'm thinking a pike found something to eat . Keep up the good work.👍
Ahhhhh (stress melts away) thank you for another fantastic vlog. Your videos are so relaxing and entertaining to watch I can feel the stresses of the day melt away.
So many glorious trees! I watch rapt. Where I live we have no trees as the Atlantic gales ( offshore Irish island ) will not allow them. I miss England only for the trees! Thank you...
Another fantastic video David. Wonderful flora and fauna made so enjoyable by your skills. Like so many others, just seeing that you've posted brightens my day!
watched many of your videos , think this was my favorite stretch , sandstone cliffs and so many park like settings ,it just looks so peaceful , well besides the town bits ...
"if Inianna Jones did canals" lol . He did, About ten years ago Harrison Ford and his good lady Callister Flockhart hired a canal boat from Anglo Welsh at Whitchurch and did the LLangollen canal. I met them in Llangollen basin, they loved it .
Just found your channel and watched all the vlogs from the beginning so now i am up to date... these are great vlogs... the best bits for me is the slight sarcasm and dry sense of humour that we see from time to time... very funny when you include it... keep up the good work. I am liking and subscribed... i know how much effort it must take to do the vlogs so much appreciated...
Mildly bad planning on my part (I reckoned I'd be on a par by now) but in fact the next vlog - which is rendering even as I type - takes me to Droitwich which is where the article ends, so it's almost in sync!!
Your notifications come through in the middle of the night here... by brekkie the vlogs are watched and yet another desire to sell up and move. Another good film thankyou. (Now off to work 😕 to get more savings to move!!! 😉)
Title : Indiana Jones - Director's cut. Actually, I believe Harrison Ford did do a narrowboat holiday some years back but I think it was one of wettest Summers on record, so not much fun. Love the vlogs.
I think on this section you will have passed a pub called the Round Oak, walked to it along the towpath so not exactly sure where it is. Can highly recommend it next time you are travelling through that way. :)
So the River Severn! awaits! We did it coming up stream from the Gloucester & Sharpness in July, but locked up at Tewkesbury to go on to the Avon. It was our first venture on to the River and we were a little apprehensive. However, apart from getting stuck on the mudbank and listing port side quite a bit at 'The Partings' all went well, this is a place to go careful but you will only hit 'The Partings' if you're coming downstream to Gloucester and you also have to look out for the big holiday cruise ship The Edward Elgar! But we didn't panic and managed to stay upright and she gently floated off if the bank - phew! If you get down as far as Sharpness we will look out for you. We liveaboard NB Mary Tavy ! Happy Crusing and enjoy the Severn!
Ah no, I went only down to Tewkesbury and then went up the Avon, as you'll see in upcoming vlogs. Also diverted off the Severn at Droitwich (next vlog). Cheers!
Had a s sad time this week !Now only me to sit and watch, and mourn, helped by your wonderful peaceful vlog. Thank you. It has meant SO much.
Sorry to hear about your tough week. Glad the canals can bring you some comfort.
I'm continually amazed at the incredible scenery as you travel the canals. :)
Me too!

You have a lot for me to catch up on but i'm working my way through them on my daily commute to the big smoke. :D
Looked like a top water Pike "blow up" at 00:15, the Angler in me got a bit excited seeing that.
Marvelous, as always.
Ta!
These trips never get old. The scenery is so similar, but it's so peaceful! Maybe not every minute, but when you live near Seattle, it's peaceful!
Incredibly splendid video! ALWAYS so well put together. I could listen to your narration all day long! The English way is, for me, my favorite.
Thank you for the tour,David.👍🇬🇧
Loved those 'Indiana Jones' sections with the vegetation overhanging the sandstone!

Many thanks indeed!
Beautiful Sandstone, we have lots of that stateside at Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, USA....I had no idea UK had that!!!
I don't know how widespread it is, geology is not my forte but it's common on that canal at least!
+ Voklst We even have limestone too... But then again, since the UK and North America were once part of the same geological continent (Pangaea) it's really not surprising.
Nice Benny Hill cameo at 1:30... :)
Help... Can't stop watching... Next one, next one, just another one... SOS... I'm stuck!
I think we too...
@@iivaridark6850 Work can wait, can't it ? ^^

Ah, I don't go to Gloucester but do go to Tewkesbury and up the Avon but all will be revealed in future vlogs!
What a beautiful image at the start of this video, simply stunning.

Simply Beautiful......Enjoyed every minute....even the weather....Thanks
Great! Cheers

I took a break for a bit. Wanted a short video to enjoy over breakfast. So relaxing. Hope your doing well.
Gets better and better, keep on keeping on.
You know you are on Canal Time when someone strolling along the towpath leaves you in the dust. 1:30
Lol
I moved to Cornwall from Bewdley in 2000 at the age of 12 so this episode was great to come across. Been hooked for weeks, thank you. Joe
One of the most picturesque videos in the series.
Very beautiful landscape, it must be a relaxing journey though landscape. Just enjoy what you see and take the time needed. Thank you for sharing your amazing video
Fabulously brilliant as usual, waiting for Jono & CHG to upload!
Ta
I know about Jono but what is CHG? Thanks

Another great video. "No Kiddin' Mister"
Oh forgot to mention fab video, were hoping to go out on the Severn again next Spring and turn off at Worcester so was lovely to see how pretty it looks......
4:08 that's a glorious shot! I like how there's a narrowboat for scale to show how massive the cathedral is
I’m afraid it’s only a church in Kidderminster
Absolutely beautiful scenery.
Lovely video, thanks for sharing.

This has become my absolute favorite. 1:10 ducks 2:25 wall 4:15 church 5:15 house with glasses 5:20 lush greenery/trees 5:35 sandstone wall
Time-stamping is a true gift
Very nice. Did this stretch many years ago. Doesn't ring any bells though :)) very pretty.
Ahhhh so much green!!!
Very COOL!!! Man you got to love the LOOK of those Sandstone cuts and just how the vegetation is growing to cover and blend in. Things just SO green there!
Lush, isn't it!
Awesome!! Another kitty cat!! Best wishes!
I'm always happy when I get a cat into the videos!
Excellent David.. I have to admire the camera work really crisp and clear detail plus very informative.. Look forward to the next one.. Thank you..
Thanks Liam
Saw my first narrowboat many years ago at Wolverley Lock, and so began my obsession! Another great vlog, thank you.

Another great Vid CTC. I'll be viewing this a few times as planning the Stourport ring next year.
Glad it's helpful!
Lovely to see you go down this stretch of the Staffs &'Worcs and looking forward to seeing your trip down the Severn 👍
Next vlog!
Very pretty indeed
Short but sweet but very nice and peaceful ☺👍
Every bit of canal you showed looks so inviting. Also, Benny Hill's back 1:32-1:39. Chuckle!
:-)
I agree w/ you on the canal-side house; very picturesque. St. Mary’s & All Saints church is striking as well, and circa 1500, amazing.
Super video David. Beautiful S&W - can't beat it
Another great vlog David , beautiful scenary i love the the houses especially the big white one. I noticed 6 seconds into the video on the left of sreen a very large splash, I'm thinking a pike found something to eat . Keep up the good work.👍
Ha, no, it was a dog jumping in after a ball but you couldn't see it on camera!
Thanks keep up the good work
David you have some beautiful countryside in England. Thank you for the post.
We do, particularly the rural counties like Shropshire and Worcestershire.
Nice slow speed narrowboat chase in the next Indiana film, great video
That would be hilarious
What a beautiful stretch of canal. You're giving me ideas for a cycling holiday. :-)
It would be a great location for that!
Ahhhhh (stress melts away) thank you for another fantastic vlog. Your videos are so relaxing and entertaining to watch I can feel the stresses of the day melt away.
