Splatfests are designed with a rubber banding problem caused by the votes. For those who don't know, rubber banding is when CPUs behind the player speed up to give a better challenge. This is commonly found in racing games, but it is also present, albeit very subtly, in the Splatoon series. You know mirror matches? That is a result of Splatfest vote rubber banding. There are too many people on a team that, if they all did nothing but splatfest open battles, without mirror matches, they would SWEEP. As such, this is a way to prevent that from happening. The problem is when the rubber band gets overstretched. This causes the rubber banding effect to actually hurt a team. As seen in the results Splatfest this is referring to, Team saturday got over 60% of the votes. If this happens, then the rubber banding gets overstretched, causing the popular team to lose. Badly. Another example of this would be Splatoon 2's Hero vs Villain Splatfest. Pearl got over 60% of the vote, but at the cost of losing the splatfest. The trick to prevent the rubber banding from going overstretched is to give a theme that doesn't have any real ties to human nature, like what instrument you prefer. This leads to more average results. TLDR: the larger the ratio of votes between teams, the more likely the popular team is going to lose. So yes, Shiver did cheat. The Splatfest was rigged from the start.
I must've had terrible luck during the instrument splatfest. I was on Guitar and Saturday but I've had the same constant mirror matching problems as the weekend splatfest and it affected all three game modes.
@@Camphreneas There's no evidence at all. Except for the fact that Shiver is objectively the most popular Idol, and tends to have the most popular choices. These combined means that when they can't decide which Team to pick, they just choose Shiver. Not to mention for the same reasons, people would just choose option 1, and hey, look at what spot Shiver is in. Honestly, the joke wouldn't bother me so much, if it wasn't for the fact that Frye's more vocal fans tend to get angry, and accusatory when they lose. Nintendo has a habit of listening to the fans when it comes to Splatoon, and it will really suck, if in Splatoon 4 Deep Cut disbanded due to irreconcilable animosity, like the situation has been becoming IRL. People don't seem to get how this behavior could affect the future of the series in real time. It used to be funny, but it isn't anymore.
I don't blame Frye
Haikara Walker is the most important holy text
In this house we read Haikara Walker and pray to the Great Zapfish none of that Madai or cod paganism!

@@THEK1RB I said more likely to lose. Not barred from winning. If the popular team, by some means, gets just one of the Battle categories, they win.

To be fair, Shiver HAS been getting massive win streaks, compared to Big Man, and Fry combined, so the evidence is all there to begin with.😅
