Josh, I love the dispatchers panel. This is something I am planning to incorporate on my railroad I am currently building. I could use any advice you have to give on getting it setup. Thanks! - Jason
I have an idea for fixing the snow you should make it look like they patched the road and put a little darker asphalt on it I think that would look great
the signals are fantastic. i'm looking to start signaling my own line and it's been daunting researching and even harder to find the parts. this is definitely inspiring!
I’ll tell you what, y’all have the most realistic model train layout that I’ve ever seen on RUclips I’m telling you man it looks so real so great work and keep the videos coming man
Would love to see a throwback video of Norfolk & Western articulated steam double heading a coal load on your layout, with possible helper. Thanks for the update. Lots of good stuff. 👍
@@nsmodeler24 The problem with trucks I've seen that bnsf train in other videos the trucks are too fat the the point the trucks turn wider than the gas tank, the trucks needs to be more slim and inward under the train on the curves real life trains don't do that scaletrains needs to fix that.
WOW! Josh, charmed and talented life. Wishing you and yours well. Just wish we could somehow combine all these scale model rail layouts into one, wouldn't that look great! OPPS! That would be the prototype, looked at from a drone-birds eye view. Guess I'll go watch some of Railfan Dan's stuff? Course, I can't control any of that railroading operation. Steady as she goes! Stellar Awesomeness! Dude!
YOU ARE VERY TALENTED AND A CRAFTSMAN AND I WISH MY LAYOUT WAS BETTER LIKE YOURS ITS AWESOME NICE WORK YOU HAVE DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB WITH YOUR LAYOUT. 🖖👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hello. So nice to see an update on your great layout. I like the little residential area you added. Wow, you really dodged a bullet with the water leak. Nice additions to the roster. Thanks. See you next time.
Wow.. that really was a great video update and thankyou for taking the time to show the extent of your hard work on your signals! My passion.. lol.. 😋 🤗
Thanks Josh! Really lovin' that signal system! I'm a big fan of signaling systems that display route information. Hooray for computers! When I built a complex signal bridge like that in the 80's I had to do all the logic with discrete components. And of course the attendant "miles" of wiring! I been inspired by this video! Off to the drawing board!
Good to see an update. Glad you're doing well. About that wet drywall fix. It wasn't by chance A. Cut out the wet drywall, B. Cover the hole with Trackside Scenery? 😉
@@nsmodeler24 yes actually. I already asked in another video of yours but I figured I'll ask here too. How wide/ deep is your bench work at its widest point ?
Always nice to see one of your updates, Josh. The layout looks great and the new scenery is up to you usual high standards. Sorry that you're still dealing with the aftermath of the water leak. Hopefully it will be fully resolved soon.
finally, after months of non-uploading, you are back! you should check out the loops because you can record the whole train down the loops. one day you can bring back crosstie models but this time with the G97/G102 woodchip gondolas with graffiti on them exactly like the real train car

Take some longer static grass and make little clumps around the houses in areas hard to reach for a lawn mower. Maybe different lengths of grass for different mowing schedules.
My goodness!!! It’s excellent as always!!! I like the neighborhood. You’ve done incredibly well! It’s going to be a major inspiration to my future layout. Also, have you started The traffic lights near the gas station yet, if it’s still on plan, and is there water in the Old Fort loops River yet?
Thank you! Best of luck with your future layout. We haven't started the traffic lights yet, but will try to get those going soon. Hopefully this summer / fall, As far as the Old Fort loops river not yet... we have all the supplies, but keep forgetting about it. We need to do that and add about 50 more trees until the loops are 100% complete. Hopefully soon as well! - Josh
@@nsmodeler24 that sounds awesome! I’m really excited about the traffic lights. I really wanna see how you guys are gonna tie that into the railroad crossing. That’s something I’ve wanted to do on my future layout. I’ve been to NC a few times and I’ve seen how they have those no left/right turn signals. That’s something I’ve wanted to try but I would like to see how it works first. They’re cool.
If you want to run Amtrak coaches on your layout definitely you should, it’d be fun. I’ll just add that if an Asheville passenger train magically popped into existence, it would be an NCDOT train. My point to this is, an NCDOT train would be a unique modeling opportunity & would look great on your layout.
I’ve been watching your videos for some time now and really enjoy them. Thanks for what you do. I do have a question that I hope you or someone else in the comments can possibly assist with. The question is is there any rhyme or reason to your first purchases when starting a collection? I’ve started a collection for my son and I based loosely off of Grafton Wv. Every Christmas he gets a new piece. We started with a chessie SD9, and last year he got a CO GP35 and a BO GP30. This year I’m torn between some sort of switcher or a western Maryland piece to compele the 3 railroads that’s made chessie. 80s era grafton i could buy gp30s for days but when building a collection is it simply buying what you like or do you look for key pieces to add variety? I’m wondering if people go to shows and implement a plan like today I’m shopping rolling stock, today I’m looking switcher, today I’m looking for power. Any tips?
I am so happy that you have added passenger services. I love passenger service and most modelers often overlook offering that type of service. I love the signals. Too bad BLMA never created the N scale signals. I always get ideas from watching your videos.
They are hard to find, but BLMA does/did make N scale signals. I have one to build - #1010 Early Signal Bridge - Double Track. Great work by Josh. Best luck with your studies.

I’d love to see a video of a couple of Reading T1’s dragging those live coal trains around, but I’m guessing this area is modeled in a different area of the NS region than Reading.
Hello Josh! Glad to see you back again! Quick question: Should I paint the foam base of my layout with a brown/dirt color before adding ground cover? What do you recommend for ground cover?
We always paint the base (foam, plywood, plaster, etc.) a dirt brown first, and then cover it with the next layer (grass, ballast, gravel, bushes, etc.) It's one more step but it adds to the realism.
