    Could we see a how to build a table /chair using base tools (nailer / skill saw / sanders)? Even if it’s a “tips and tricks for when you don’t have a (miter saw / joiner / etc) it would be helpful.
    Thank you!

    Good tips, Brandon. I save my old credit cards and the fake ones I receive in the mail to use as spreaders. I can just toss them. Pinking shears give a serrated edge for heavier spreading. Stay safe (double safe). Bill

    After getting your two square sides on the jointer, why switch to the planer and not finish on the jointer?

    Mild anxiety 😂 I had no clue some people don’t do it this way, I’m always running both sides getting in a nice groove flipping pieces and trying not to trip on the dust collection 🤦‍♀️

    How do you decide the orientation of the boards before glue up? Just based on aesthetics, or does the grain direction come into play to account for wood movement so the boards don't split later?

    • @WalkersWoodworks
      @WalkersWoodworks  4 года назад +2

      As long as they are kiln dried that shouldn't be an issue

  • @heymitch1519
    @heymitch1519 4 года назад +1

    Is there a reason you don't joint and plane the boards before you glue them together? What if the faces you glue aren't flat?

    • @WalkersWoodworks
      @WalkersWoodworks  4 года назад +1

      Good question. I buy my lumber s3s (surfaced on 3 sides). So it's already jointed and planed when I get it. 👍

      Well unless you're from here then the name won't do you much good lol. But it's Hughes Hardwoods in Chico, CA.im sure if you Google hardwood dealer in my area there may be one near you. You could also get it from stores like rockler or Woodcraft if you have one locally but typically they are higher priced.

    Hey Brandon, how do you like those Jorgensen P-clamps. I'm looking for good square clamps. Amazon has some Bora clamps, there's Bessey, and I just heard of these Jorgensen. Are you sponsored by them, by chance?

    • @WalkersWoodworks
      @WalkersWoodworks  4 года назад +1

      I am sponsored by them. But I have used bora and bessy also. Not a fan of bora at all. Bessy are OK but I like the way the Jorgensen clamps slide.

    Why not get 4x4 which will be stronger?

    • @philipcoulson3111
      @philipcoulson3111 2 года назад

      Because a 4x4 wouldn't end up being a 4x4 it starts as 3.5x3.5 when you clean it up it'll be something like a 3x3 or 3.25x3.25 well off of the 4x4 he was originally after

    • @SwapnilBhartiya
      @SwapnilBhartiya 2 года назад

      @@philipcoulson3111 There is no science that 4x4 will be strongest. MOST table chairs you will find are actually much thinner. I just don't understand unecessary extra work to make that wood.
