  • The Ishidori Festival was held for two days on the first Saturday and Sunday in August 2023. The Ishidori Matsuri has been held in Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture, for about 400 years, and has been selected as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and a nationally designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset. The original purpose of the festival was to collect clean stones from the Machiya River that runs through the southern part of the city and dedicate them to the Kasuga Shrine (Kuwana Sung Shrine) for its maintenance, but the festival music that enlivened the procession of the stones greatly developed and took its present form. The roar of the drums and gongs continues almost continuously from midnight on Saturday to midnight on Sunday. The biggest spectacle of the festival was the "tosai," or procession. At the front of Kasuga Shrine, the festival floats offer up the "sound" with all their might for eight minutes each in a turn determined by lot drawing. This year, the town of Fukue drew the first lots for the Hanaguruma, or flower cart, and was the first to perform the festival, representing 40 towns. It was a spectacular event. The ringing in my ears that did not cease even after a while told the story of how amazing the festival was.

      囃子も五つ拍子、七つ拍子、五つ七つ拍子の3種類あり同じ拍子の町内はありません。
      町内ごとに全て違います。
