I love hearing about other people's dos and donts with tarot cards! It's always so interesting to me - My biggest pet peeve is different Suits or Courts (Coins for Pentacles, Daughter for Page, etc). I'm pretty RWS purist in that case, but I have one deck in particular that's changed the courts a little, and it's the only time I've purposely broken the dealbreaker.
This was a fun video to watch. I'm glad I'm not alone in having exceptions to my deal breaker decks. Being able to riffle shuffle a deck is important to me, but I have a few decks I love that I can't riffle.
I got the Brady tarot . Read the book and put the deck away and haven't touched it since because of the cardstock being too sticky and clunky /heavy. I'll probably sell it or trade it. I saw that the textured tarot is reprinted but it's still on the same card stock
On the metallics, i don't mind the border look, the ones I have a hard time with the rainbow hologram cards. They are up there with the color changing lights in so many videos!!!
I don't know the world of Diablo, but that deck is RAD. I feel the same way as you do with collage decks, too--some can just be sensory overload, but for whatever reason, others will work for me. But, ooh, I've got a book by Judith Orloff that I've been meaning to read and didn't realize she authored an oracle deck as well--though, yeah, those visuals...yikes. 😆 And yaaay for Curious Creatures! That shouldn't be my thing either, but it so is. And I've gotta get back on the Supernatural train...think I left off at Season 6? Anyways, this was great fun and boosts my appreciation for the decks we make exceptions for, those little dears. Thanks, Dawn! 🥰
@@DawnMichelleTarot I keep watching it in fits and starts, too! It's like, I love it enough to want to keep watching, but it's harder for me to binge than other shows.
I bridged the Textured Tarot the other day on a live stream and blew Lisa's mind. I am not sure if I have a different cardstock or what, but I have been riffle shuffling it for ages with no problem. All my 'Not My Aesthetic' decks are gifts, and that is the way the weasel their way in lol! I will say the one category that I have that you dont is Majors Only. I only have a couple and thats because I love them as objects of beauty and expressions of the tartot, but I personally do not read with Majors only decks.
You might be able to do it with no issue because you could have larger and possibly stronger hands than others that might be using the deck including Dawn Michelle or Lisa !!
Hmm is it an early printing? I thought I heard somewhere that one of the very early printings was on different cardstock (although I could be thinking of something else lol) 😊
My taste in decks change all the time…I feel like deal breakers for me a year or two ago, are things I look for now and vice versa. I can’t keep up with my re-homed then bought back again decks 😂
I love oversized decks I have a Hannibal (tv show) one that’s probably one of if not the largest card size deck I own I adore it but I do get a little nervous to use it sometimes because I just know if anything happened to it I would never find another copy
There is no perfect deck? Morgan Greer deck exists. Just playing. I'm picky and it's the only deck I find no fault in. I really enjoy your content. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into your videos.
The half-a$$ed half pip decks are being churned out by Insight Editions. I love Supernatural, but I just couldn’t pull the trigger on it. It’s got 15 seasons, they should be able to illustrate all the cards. The Labyrinth deck is a TdM style pip deck and it is beautiful. My biggest exception is I don’t like huge decks and Le Tarot Noir is huge. But the art is amazing so it gets a pass.
Yeah, I freakin haaate round decks. But Archetypes (and Alchemy) are just too good. I put keywords all around the edges and that solves the, 'finding the meaning by where they touch' issue. I also keep Tarot of the Cloisters because it's so interesting and Nature Portals by Jamie Sawyer because it's smaller, it actually riffles. 😊 Hex decks are easier. I hate oblong... Textured Tarot was also just hard for me to see... along with weird cardstock 😢 - Supernatural doesn't really bother me until I get all pups in a reading, then I feel unloved. It has given me some really great reads because of the characters and how well I know them. Sigh. I hear you with the collage decks... for a long time, I just didn't want to work that hard. But I realize now, almost from the beginning, I loved what you call lightly collaged. Like Baba Studios and Duck Soup and the amazing Danielle Noel. I guess big fat borders and ugly fonts can be fixed with modding, I get really sick of seeing RWS but with mice, Neon, or whatever 🤨 BUT in particular, Moon Baby Tarot and Darkness of Light Tarot are soooo beautifully done. I can't find a fault. I also HATE, the, 'in the style of' artist decks that LoScarabeo produced. 😡 But, Klimpt Tarot is a fabulous exception. Loved this video. 😊
Omg I love the Diablo Tarot but find it hilarious that it's actually bigger than your hands! For me I have like 1cm longer fingers that the cards are high 😂 That explains why I don't like pocket decks and find normal size quite small, guess I just have large hands or long fingers lol
I'm so glad you included the Supernatural deck! I keep going back and forth for the same reasons but it's Supernatural! 😂 What season are you on? Or did you finish it?
I took a little break for a bit (got caught up in Farscape rewatch and then my life taken over by Baldurs Gate 3 but I think I’m somewhere in season 5. 😁
This was funny. Just goes to show that although we may have our preferences, some decks just can get away with it 😂 I almost felt like a part of you felt like you were being disloyal by liking them 😂 oh the betrayal. I love love Power of Surrender. They’re ugly but they work!
The Sirian Starseed Tarot by Patricia Cori went out of print because the publisher, North Atlantic Books, "cancelled" her early on in the ridiculous "Woke" movement. It’s really sad.
I wanna do a VR to this so bad!! I hope I get a chance to. Either way - I am LIVING for this whole video. Fabulous.
Ooh I hope you do!! I’d love to see that. 🥰

Definitely there with you for the size and aesthetic frustration. :D But sometimes the deck just works and we have to accept that XD
I definitely have some decks like this. It's fun to look through the collection and realise that not one of my rules is concrete!
I am so glad that I'm not the only one who has Supernatural as one of their exception decks

Love it when we break our own rules! This was super fun.
I LOVE big decks and hate the small decks
This was super fun. Gotta love those deal breakers who somehow make it through. ha ha ha
They do tend to be a lot of fun! 🥰
Love it! Never say never. Curious creatures sure does have a way of charming and winning you over. :)
Hehe it certainly does!

There is an older deck called the Curious Tarot by Michelle Cohen. It’s very similar to Curious Creatures Tarot
Ooh thank you, I’ll have to check that out! 🥰
On the metallics, i don't mind the border look, the ones I have a hard time with the rainbow hologram cards. They are up there with the color changing lights in so many videos!!!
On the archetype deck, I am considering putting the number on the title portion of the cards at the bottom.
I might have to do the same, it’s such a pain to find anything, but I do love the deck! 🥰
@@DawnMichelleTarot I posted a pic of a few of my cards in the facebook group. 😁

I fell off the supernatural train, first it was cause of Farscape and now it’s cause of BG3. I’ll get back to it though! 😊

The (new) Bohemian Gothic is the biggest deck I’ve ever tried to wrap my hands around (tee hee)

I 100 percent agree about the Power of Surrender deck. It's ugly but brilliant.
I love the Power of Surrender cards. It will never leave my collection. I love it too much!!!
