yahel allouche it reminds me of really old disney films, and the general style of 1930s artwork, it's really beautiful and unique while still looking sort of vintage
Hi Chris! Really enjoy your thumbnail process--it's definitely waaay more involved than my own is currently, but it's what I used to do, so I enjoy seeing you do it! :D Nowadays, I limit thumbs and brainstorm sketches to far fewer due to pain and injury issues I've had for several years that limit my hand energy, but I still spend a lot of time (sometimes days) thinking about a piece in my head visually and then I make a few select thumbs from all that it's in my head, and then try out various limited schemes on them before the final piece is drawn up and painted. Love that you get a tangible record of all your thought process from the start in your many, many thumbs--it lets me enjoy prolific thumbnails vicariously through you! XD XD
I know what you mean by "the air felt different". There is something about the humidity that makes everything feel more alive, more full of possibility. I don't know why it is like that, but I come from Argentina and I have noticed the same thing about Buenos Aires, which is very humid and hot during the summer. I guess the feeling is really hard to explain, one has to feel it in their own flesh to know what it's like.
It’s a great concept.....I can see how you were inspired by your visit to NOLA....it looks like such a unique and vibrant city, filled with exceptional and extraordinary individuals. You captured that well!
chrishong make sure to always do stuff for you as well, not just for others. you already given alot to the world with your art. i know you want to do more abstract pieces, if you do im looking forward to those as well :). there will always be more children book illustration type stuff. you can do both at the same time.
I learn so much from watching your process! I was planning this years christmas cards and thought "I have to watch Chris to refresh how she does the planning!” 😄❤️
There's always something magical watching you sketching and make your characters turn alive.. I will never bored to watch you doing this. This process over here, I wish I could do it too. It's inspiring and boosting my mood to start drawing too, but at the same time disappointed because I could never draw like you.. I love your drawings and your story behind it.. will always wait for your new videos 💕💕 Ps: I keep coming here.. I really enjoyed watching your sketching process. Here I am a week later watching for the nth time..
Her hairstyle reminds me a lot of Nabiya Be's Eurydice from Hadestown. Also I love watching your process! It's always so thorough and imaginative, I could never!
this is super cool! I love watching your sketching process, and i cant wait to see how this turns out! i really identify with the raccoon slamming those two trashcan lids together.
You feel vulnerable, yet you're one of the most precise, stylistically developed and skillful artists on RUclips from what I've seen. No offense to you, but you inspire me to _not_ become a fearful, anxious person like this. I will endeavor to allow more mistakes of myself in the future because people can see the skill, and depending on your level, may be entirely incapable of seeing the mistakes.
OMG! No wonder your work is so amazing! I draw and paint an idea and wonder why it doesn't come out like I had in mind. Thank you so much for sharing your process and inspiring me in a more productive direction!
I love ,love ,love your art .It makes me so happy when I look at it and inspires me so much .It would be really cool if you make a video about your art journey.Did yo go to art school ,how did you learn etc.
You have such amazing concepts for your work. I absolutely love your compositions and colors in a piece. Can't wait to see how this is going to be colored. 😊😃🤔💗💖
i love this piece! and to see all the process you go through for coming up with your painting just make me appreciate it a lot more... all this work is totally worth it.
Your work is always so inspiring 😍 I just get so happy and ready to draw whenever I watch one of your videos! 😊 Also the way you draw animals it gives me 1930's cartoon vibes and I love it.
How did you learn to draw Anatomy and design characters? Your art work is beautiful I would love to learn from you. If you have time could you please make a tips video on how you learned to draw? From begginer to advanced. I know alot of people have videos like that on RUclips but ever artest is different. It would be cool to hear from your perspective as an artist.
Thank you SO much for this! I was literally struggling with a work I've been procrastinating on, and you've given me much needed insight and encouragement. Many blessings!
I really like all your art and these videos are very inspirational. Do you think you could do a video about what you have learned from creating a Patreon, how you set up the tiers, how to keep on track, and anything else for someone like me thinking about getting started down that path? Thank you so much.
10:15 where is focus, if it is the mood then designing each and every asset isn’t necessary, utilizing an already developed design that has been seen before is fine, like with kit bashing or matte painting, if the mood is of import then focus on that and utilize existing assets
and I have some Q for you~How do you analyze features in portraits? If you are interested, I would like to hear you introduce your watercolor technique. Does your little redhead have a story line? How do I design my own little character? If you feel interesting~
Have you ever considered turning your sketchbook (or parts of it) into a type of art book? It's not only super nice to watch you go through, but also it could provide other artists a look into the process and inspire them as well. :)
Ahhh I've been so slow with responding lately. Life is getting crazy. I'm so sorry :[ BUT I really love this and definitely love the animals so much. They do remind me of Disney stuff and like you said, I think its the innocence of the animals and I love how you incorporated them
Thank you for this journey! It was very interesting and inspiring, and your drawings are so expressive *w* I'm just wondering, do you spray fixative on your sketchbook since you draw on both sides?
Really enjoyed this video. I’ve never been to New Orleans but everyone I know who has gone says it was magical and so full of life, so I definitely want to go😁 Also just want to say how much I appreciate that you made a black mermaid. It’s refreshing seeing PoC in fantasy pieces, I’ve always enjoyed seeing your Asian characters in whimsical illustrations. Can’t wait too see part two, you put so much effort into your thumbnails and color swatches (it totally shames my lazy ass😊 IG @dragonwhiskey )
I wish I could have a crack st coloring those pages. You should do a coloring book
I would totally buy that.
I 2nd this, I want to colour her sketches so bad
This is soo so true!
Her art style really reminds me of something I just can’t put my finger on it.... its so nostalgic though i love it so much
yahel allouche it reminds me of really old disney films, and the general style of 1930s artwork, it's really beautiful and unique while still looking sort of vintage
Miko Hawden YES EXACTLY! That’s it that’s what it reminds me of
yahel allouche yeah, it really shines through when she starts painting since the colors are some what muted
It's like if Norman Rockwell and Disney had an art baby 💚
The clips you showed of the jazz music in New Orleans gave me big vibes of Disney's Princess and the Frog.
The appeal of mermaids will never wear off. Also I really love these process videos! Looking forward to Part 2.

I think making exploratory sketches and comps are good! If you have an initial idea, the planning helps you refine it :) Keep up the good job!
I love drawing! It's as if you're free to express it with your hands as it is in your head!
Marvelous.

Question: do you listen to Tomorrow X Together
I wish you did the sad one, because the title of the peice could of been called "crocodile tears"
Not sure that would make sense since "crocodile tears" means tears that are insincere
ajjaja justo lo que buscaba... pero en otro idioma ._. (drawing beutiful)
“kiss the girl” from Ariel vibes
Aaaaaa my heads spining😖
never see any band playing on street (walking)in China……
