    Some great big smallmouths. I'm jealous!

    Regarding the break offs, did you conclude where on your set up they occurred and why? Thanks for another great review!

      5lb fluoro is scary under any situation, esp when you're pulling against 5lb fish lol. A couple were just pulled hooked, the one that broke off was at the terminal knot. Knots in fluoro are at best 80% and that's if you tie them perfectly. That's why once you get to 4, 5, 6lb line class all the details matter...rod/drag/knots/line/hook diameter for penetration etc

      More great intel, Roger. So glad I asked, because I’ve never fished straight fluoro and was wondering about it’s susceptibility to break offs. Now I’m even more aware of the need for moderate bending rods when fishing light fluoro. And BTW, the Zodias 168L is ordered, thanks to your informed recommendation. Will get on a local pond with Smallmouth as soon as we get rid of the ice and enjoy a warming spell.

    reminds me of the brenious, stops loading up way too high up on the blank.

    thanks for sharing. have you tried the 6 10 ml expride b have heard the A was a rod something like you are looking for ? also what is the best rod you have found for your lite line smallmouth fishing? i have been looking for a rod chase smallmouth with but ml seems to heavy and lite seems to be to weak.

    Well I'll say I have the legit design wild side 6'4L bait finesse and the 6'4xh big bait special and I love these rods. I love the action in the taper they are nice and sensitive, light and I just love the way they feel in my hand. I my opinion legit design wild side rods are top notch and I love to fish them. My favorite thing about these rods is my hook to land ratio is really good and I rarely lose fish. That sucks you don't like yours. I'm about to get the 69mh frog rod it has a moderate slow taper and is a very interesting rod to me. But you seem very knowledgeable could you suggest a versatile mh rod under 7' that's moderate fast or slower.

      Yeah to each their own, the Legit Design wildside at its current price on TW is a big nope for me. Sub 7' mh casting rods is not something I use, but I hear good things about that Poison Adrena 6'11M+ as a versatile rod that can handle smaller frog duties.

    You can get a 2 pic expride for 22000 yen plus 3000 shipping from Japan. That is probably the best deal on one of the best mid tier rod in the market

      Yeah and before carriers raised prices earlier this year the grip joint models were also incredible value. USDM prices aren't terrible on the exprides (unlike say, the MB P5 lol). Here's my review of the 610ML - ruclips.net/video/vAvHpFJB_2c/видео.html

    OK, as if the winter isn’t long enough, now you taunt us with more gorgeous release videos of absurdly obese bronze backs. The rod review, as usual, was very sensibly specific and helpful . I only wish the Adrena was available now instead of July. The Zodias BFS 168 may be the best alternative?

    • @CookingandFishing
      @CookingandFishing  Год назад

      Ty!! That Zodias 68L has the exact lure rating as the Adrena 67L - my prediction is it will be a touch softer throughout which isn't a bad thing at all for a finesse crank/JB rod

    Ever try St Croix LTB? Curious on your thoughts about it if so.

    • @CookingandFishing
      @CookingandFishing  Год назад

      I'm not the biggest fan of St Croix, I've owned or fished the previous gen LTB and LE and they all felt pretty dead to me. I ended up sticking to the Expride B for this application, a review of that rod is up.

      @@CookingandFishing Appreciate it. I was a hair's width away from getting an expride, but the short warranty kind of threw me off (coming from tree fly fishing world where lifetime warranty is pretty standard). Haven't received my LTB yet and we're still iced over here, but hoping I like it more than you did. Kind of half regret not getting a lye expride!

      @@jonc.5310 I'm sure they're great rods, the new ones have lots of fans for sure. Warranty is baked into the price of course, what I do the day I get any new rod delivered is I mount a reel spool up some line set the drag and PULL - different angles, practice hooksets etc. If nothing explodes, you're pretty much good to go as far as actual defects. Human error, otoh...yeah those extended insurance policies are nice lol
