Nice job i really like your lighting setup . I just bought the same model . Im leaning towards buying a snow blower. I live in NH and the majority of our storms end up very wet heavy snow pack and a blade really struggles to clear heavy snow .
Thanks! I live in NH also. I posted a video of a snow plow upgrade to reduce the folding of the blade in heavy snow, super easy fix. I also posted a video on how I installed the lights. Hit up my channel and give them a watch!
Can you show how the cable system works with the pivot. I have mine hooked up but there's not enough tension it seems even with it at the tightest it can be. So the handle won't push forward or back to pivot the plow
Bob, Jose, check out my answer to how I adjusted the cables at the beginning of this video. Feel free to watch the video also! ruclips.net/video/8CSKkWStwF0/видео.html
Thank you for the video! I have a couple of questions for you, if you wouldn't mind. I recently purchased this same mower and wondering if you have positive feedback regarding the differential lock. I purchased this mower to mow my 3 acres and pull a utility cart. My property is a bit "hilly" and is the reason I was wanting the differential lock. It has been my experience so far the differential lock does nothing to help with traction in challenging areas. I'm quite disappointed with it. The dealership does not offer much help in this regard. I'm wondering if I add wheel weights or weights like I see you've added to the back of yours. I can't find wheel weights but your setup looks like it could help. What bracket and weights are you using? Thank you very much!
Hey highwayman! I bought this machine for assistance in clearing snow in the winter time in addition to mowing the yard. My yard is all flat so the differential lock doesn’t help me with that, but it does make a difference with pushing the heavy snow. The “one wheel peel” is real and the diff lock really helps keep the machine moving when traction is less than ideal. I use chains in the winter in addition to the weights in the back for added grip. I have a couple other videos posted of clearing snow with the plow and some occasions I use the diff lock to push and you can see how it just keeps pushing along. Check them out. One thing I have observed with the diff lock pedal is it’s quite hard to full push down. It’s almost like you need to stand on the pedal to engage it and it’s not fully engaged unless the pedal is all the way to the floor, but once it’s engaged, you’ll notice. Use the lock on dirt or gravel and make some turns, you’ll see the inner tire dig up as you corner. Perhaps you are not fully pressing down leaving you to believe it’s locked when in actuality it’s not? Something to consider. As far as the weights go, I’m using the standard grass bagging brackets that mount to the back and the weights just hang on that. It’s the same bracket specifically for the weights, Cub Cadet made it universal for the weights and the bagger so I didn’t need to buy other hardware which is nice. I hope this helps!
@@iambigsteveo Thank you for your response! When you said you have to push down quite firmly to engage the differential lock you had me thinking. My pedal pushes all the way to the floor with virtually no resistance. So today I peaked underneath to see if there was a reason and to my amazement I noticed the foot pedal linking to the differential was not connected. This is how the mower was delivered to me! What great quality control. LOL. Tomorrow I will hook the the foot pedal appropriately and see how it feels then. Thanks again!
@highwayman14711 holy smokes! You’ll feel a world of a difference with it once it’s working 😆 if I am honest, it doesn’t surprise me that it was disconnected, it’s the only model that has the locking diff so the assembler (whoever did it) probably glossed over it after crunching out the other models time and time again. Keep me posted on how it feels once you get it hooked up!!
@@iambigsteveo Well, yesterday I worked on connecting the locking differential pedal to the shaft leading to the differential. I had to adjust the shaft length to meet the pedal but finally got it connected. Boy, what a difference! Both tires will now pull equally when the pedal is depressed. But I did notice that the pedal is a little difficult to depress completely. It initially depress downward but the last approximate 1" of travel is difficult. However, as you are driving and depressing the pedal at the same time it will eventually smoothly presses all the way to the floor. As if its needs to mesh with the drivetrain before the pedal will fully depress. Does yours act the same way? Thanks again for opening my eyes to this debacle. On a side note, I found two 50 lbs. wheel weights that I ordered from "Mow The Lawn" for my back wheels. Looking forward to getting those installed.
@highwayman14711 hell yes highwaydude! Glad you got it working! And yes, the way you describe it is how I experience mine, the final inch of travel where it meets the floor is the hardest, like I said before, it feels like you need to stand on it haha. I think we are fighting against a stiff spring in the differential assembly, probably like a spring in a clutch pack for a transmission in a car, but a car’s clutch pedal is depressed forward using your thigh, where our diff pedal is probably out butt muscle lmao. We probably need to do more squats 😂😂
Well I will like to know how well the bagger did for you and how well it mowed for you and how well and did you have any problems with your mower and did the koler 7000 series 25hp worked well for you that type of thing because I’m planning on buying the cub cadet xt2 gx50 garden tractor with the same 25hp and that’s why I’m asking for a review on your garden tractor and your thoughts on it as well 😊
Hi Warren, I don't have any videos of me mowing so I can't show you visually, but I hope my response here will be sufficient. I am very pleased at the efficiency of the bagger. It collects plenty of grass and leaves. The paper lawn and refuse bags you can buy from the big box stores, you can fit two of the 3 mower bags into one of the paper lawn bags so it can hold a lot. The standard blades that come with the mower have plenty of lift to collect all debris and send it up the chute into the bags. I also have the mulching kit where the blades have teeth-like knives on the fan part of the blade that creates lift, well they don't create as much lift so they are not ideal for bagging but if you are mulching, you would keep the material on the ground so it's really a non-issue. The only issue I have found with the mower is engaging the PTO for the blades. After the mower sits for a couple days from the previous mow, when I engage the PTO by lifting up on the yellow button, the electronic clutch is so aggressive, the engine almost stalls out trying to get the blades to spin. Once the machine is hot and I have engaged and disengaged several times, it no longer struggles. I don't believe this is an issue with the engine, rather the engagement of clutch goes full lock immediately and doesn't give the blades a chance to spool up. I will probably need to call service for this behavior. My particular mower came with the Kawasaki 25 hp v-twin instead of the Kohler but I believe the Kohler is the standard engine and this one came with the optional Kawasaki. Either option is perfectly fine, Kohler is found in a lot of outdoor power equipment applications and has a solid reputation so you can't go wrong with that engine. Overall, I am very pleased with this garden tractor. My mower deck is the fabricated style vs the stamped variant so it's built to last and is very sturdy. It also comes with the blade quick change sprockets so you can easily change the blades without any tools, this works great. My suggestion to further simplify this procedure is to buy a mower/atv jack that lifts the front or rear of the mower up to increase your working space. As you can see, I have purchased a plow for it and the plow does a fantastic job with clearing snow. I am not sure where you are located, but consider the plow if you receive snow. Tire chains are a must if so, and buy chain tensioners as you will see in the next video I post soon. I hope this helps answer your questions. Let me know how else I can help. Thanks!
@ZiggieHood yup! It’s the cub cadet model! I added two springs to the plow to improve its bite when plowing. I found it folded over on itself too easily when pushing heavy snow.
@iambigsteveo Yeah that's one of the complaints I've seen in several reviews on Cub Cadets website. You have a garden tractor right? I just have a lawn tractor but it's got 23 hp. Hopefully it'll work good. We don't get much snow in Missouri
I made a video showing this process of fixing the weak spring on my channel. Check it out! Yeah my machine is a garden tractor, XT2 GX54D with the Kawasaki engine. It’s a beast.

I didn't forget about you Bob, I just got a decent snow fall today and will be posting a video soon with a response to your question.
I have the same issue
Assumed the cables were faulty so asked for replacement
When they arrive i want to install them correctly :/
Thanks!

Do I need to take deck off
No, but you will want to so you’re not dragging the deck through the snow and rusting the blades being exposed to the moisture from the snow.

Hi there my name is warren can you do a review on your garden tractor cub cadet gx 54d
Hey Warren. I’m out of mowing season with it being the start of December and I’m above the snow belt, what would you like to see in a review video?

Where did you get your plow from?
@@ZiggieHood I got it from Home Depot, but you can get it from your local cub cadet dealer.

How has it performed with the snow?
It did awesome. I posted a couple videos showing it power through some snow and another one showing me strengthening the spring.
