There is hope. I was diagnosed in 2006. Fortunately, I had an endoscopy for a stomach problem and they found bad cells in my esophagus at that time, so stage 1. I was offered an esophagectomy which I accepted. It took about 6 months to recover and, like Billy, I sleep elevated. It’s also difficult to lay flat for any length of time, so that could be a problem for some people. It still is for me. But I’m still here after 17 years, eating and drinking normally as long as I’m sensible. My problem was caused by smoking and excessive alcohol consumption most evenings after work, and eating a meal before going to bed. Don’t do it people!!

Thank you for sharing your experience and I’ve heard the same from many survivors about laying down and change of how they rest. Bless you for making it through the surgery! We are hoping that education about treatments helps those fighting to make better decisions. If you would like to be featured in an up-coming series and can access Facebook to join me for a live video let me know and we will speak about the details. Thank you again for giving hope to the hopeless!@philgriffiths951

The pet scan I took yesterday will reveal the full picture of my cancer when I see my oncologist in a few days- and type/stage through 2nd endoscopy the previous day
