I didn't get hit, but I did take damage while guarding. I got back the health I lost with either Drain blade or Aerial Drain. Dispel blade for when she applies Anti-Material or Absulote Ward on herself. And of course, Assult Twister+ for my main DPS on the open opportunities.
I needed max 255 for ATK, VIT, SPR. MAG doesn't matter.
Genji Glove - So all hits are crits, and breaks damage limit to 99,999
Genji Helm - So I don't use any AP and ultimately not having to use items. And Libra so I can keep an eye on her HP for the sub 10 million Ability charge ups. And to know exactly when her attack patterns change.
Genji Shield - Mainly for Barrier and MBarrier. Helped reduce damage while guarding.
Ziedrich - For the extra 100 stat boost to ATK, VIT, SPR

Wow amazing. I think its better to Show your setup before fight than wrotong it in the description but this is the best way to beat her I've ever seen. I used costly punch and high jumper for dps and a lot of phoenix downs. It works pretty well but wasnt as smooth an SOLDIER-like as your way. Tanks for sharing man.

@@Icy_Pumpkin I ended up using a combination of Assault Twister+ and high jump drain which was working great! However, once you get down to about 1/3 of her HP, her attacks become less easy to predict.
I found another video where someone went crazy farming SP and maxed out a few SP master materia; it took many hours to do it, but going up against Minerva with this method, you are basically invincible as long as you have enough SP. Minerva on hard mode was finished in less than half an hour.

@@Icy_Pumpkin I made it too time consuming because I farmed about 50,000,000 SP. you can get fair lots of it in one of the missions where you go up against the groups of 3 orange spheres. There’s an advanced cave mission that works out perfectly for it; can’t remember which off the top of my head as it’s been a few months since I did it, but it’s one of those crystal-cave looking missions. I think the farming took about 10-15 hours but I was just so angry about losing so many times that I hunkered down a few hours a day and then BOOM. You can find tutorials for the method. Good luck!

This is my 3rd and final Minerva video. If I do another one, it will be of me beating her blindfolded because, at this point, I think I can. But I am sharing this because a lot of comments about 100% Buster Sword proficiency not being possible. Or that there is no benefit after 47%. That is definitely NOT the case.
Only thing that bothers me is she just crystallizes and explodes like in less than five seconds thought she would do a lil more after defeat than tho

Not risky at all. Use Costly Punch but store Rush Assault for Judgment Arrow
If you're using costly punch, u need to use it twice (to break one bar) AND heal up before she uses her Judgement, cuz it will hit you for 75k damage with one bar down. Timing is real tight to do 3 actions.
Twister or Gil Toss are safer alternatives to use due to their multihits.
Why does everyone use costly punch? I use magic punch and with genji helmet it always deals 99999 damage... even High jump out of the stance when it hits her backside deals 99999 damage, around 60k when not from the backside

Pardon my ignorance, does Magical Punch + Genji Helm = unlimited combo?
Probably the only reason why people are not using MP is because they didnt wear Genji Helm, so they will run out of MP recovery fast (Ether+Elixir, and Power Osmose may leave him open to attacks)

If you cranked your Buster Sword Proficiency up to 100 percent you not only gain a third buster sword ability (shield break) but when you’re in your buster sword stance it renders all attacks to 0, except Ultima.

@cloudstrife316 The regular enemies from Mission 9-6-5. Block their attacks then after proficiency stops going up, then kill them with the strong attack from battle stance to get more proficiency.

Your buster profiency only needs to be at 47% for the shield break. You dont get any other buffs after that
@Nick Zotixx I found out that you do. I don't know if it's a change between the original and Reunion, but once my proficiency hit like 90 percent, I stopped taking any damage from her attacks. If I did this strategy now, I would take zero damage and not need drain blade or aerial drain.

I got buster sword after beating her in normal mode and trying the hard mode one. So all my strats were based on high jump and magic punch. It was so slow!
Your strat was beautiful and looked much safer overall. (Except that I can’t reliably get into buster mode without dodging…)
I had the same problem because I remapped roll to its OG PSP's "square" location. Changing block to square, putting roll on something else, and getting used to the change turned out to be infinitely easier. It makes perfect sense now to block and smoothly transition to buster mode by tapping the attack key while blocking. Feels so smooth and downright intuitive.

I been trying to beat her on hard mode, with the same equipment and max stats when i go into the stance i receive no damage from any of her attacks from her magic to her physical. Maybe ultima might hurt but im not entirely sure i havent got that far to make her use it. The max level for the proficiency is 95
@[DOOM] Sephiroth the way i maxed it out was in mission 121 and went back and fort between enemy encounters. You can only upgrade the proficiency by doing 3 things with the sword. First is by killing enemies with your heavy swing, the second is by going into the stance then killing with using command materia and the third is just getting hit while in the stance itself, it doesnt matter the strength of the enemy and the damage given it goes up no matter what. The grindy part about it is that it only goes up a certain amount per battle thats why you'll have to go back and forth between enemy encounters and cant just do it in a long battle like mission 161 that has 1000 men. Another thing to take in is that theres a limit cap to how much you can do between the methods like for example you cant just only do heavy swings cause the limit is 31 point whatever and after it hits that number it won't go any higher so you're forced to do the other two methods. Sorry that this is a long message i hope it helps
Update: the stance doesn't protect you against her ultima so its best to just dodge it. Another note is that her ultima gets stronger each time she uses it
dispel blade is a must have imo, def removes all enemy buffs
You can actually interrupt her buff by using dmw limit break and she will continue her attack pattern without her defensive buff. If you save any limit break.
Getting Aeronite and Yiazmat vibes from that 80M hp total.
I think this version of Minerva has the highest HP any Final Fantasy enemy has ever seen....

Ok, it seems the Proficiency is a key but can this mission be completed without it? I am (on PC) at start of chapter 4 and in hard mode, but I want to defeat her without going further in the story

This strategy looks a lot more fun than the others I've seen so I wanted to try it. I've got essentially the same build and stats but my Assault Twister+ aren't doing max damage, only the 3rd hit. The only difference is I'm at lvl 82. Do you know if levels have that much of an influence on damage even though my ATK stat is maxed?
I think if your ATK stat is at 255 then you being level 82 shouldn't matter with damage output. Unfortunately, I have no way to test that though. So I would say just make sure your ATK is at 255, have the Genji Glove so you always crit, and have at least two SP materia (Turbo or Turbo Attack). Buster Sword percentage might also have something to do with it but don't quote me on that.

I did some testing, when I first asked yesterday I was at lvl 82, 255 ATK, Genji Gloves, SP Turbo & SP Turbo Attack, & Buster Sword Proficiency at 63% and my Assault Twister+ was doing ~88k on hits 1 and 2, and 99k on the 3rd hit.
I leveled to 90 and went back in with everything the same and my Twister+ was doing 94-99k on the 1st two hits, and 99k on the 3rd hit.
Finally I just went in after hitting lvl 99 and now I'm hitting all 3 hits on my Twister+ at 99k. Only difference other than levels between the first and third checks was 63% Buster Sword on the first check and 78% Buster Sword on the 3rd check, and going from 2m SP on the first check to 8.6m on the 3rd check.
My testing wasn't controlled enough to say for certain that it was the levels but it kinda seems like it, and I'm hitting 99k on all three hits so that's what matters in the end lol, now I just need to put in the attempts and take her down! Thanks again :)

Thank you. But that's the thing. After the fight I only had a net loss of 168k SP. And you can farm that quick from Three Stars enemies in less than 2 minutes. And that's also why I don't use SP Master for this because the guarding would probably drain all my SP.

I tried her on Hard on my second run. All stat except Luck are Maxed. Buster Sword is at 95% (which is max) and I use magic punch as main damage dealer with high jump as secondary (only deals 99999 when it hits her backside and out of the Buster Sword stance. Got her down to 60 million and couldnt heal fast enough before her ultimate which killed me.... What really bothers me is that her Flash slash removes the phoenix down buff...
Do you use any SP damage materia, because i max all stats but cant deal that much damage with assault twister +
20:28 I am using SP Turbo and SP Turbo Attack. From the tests I'v done, it doesn't matter which ones you have. Meaning you can have 2 turbos, 2 Turbo attacks or one of each. So for max 99,999 (x3) with assult Twister+ from battle stance you need at least 2 SP materias. If I only use 1 SP materia then I get about 60k hits. Also, I personally don't recommend SP Master because it will wipe out your SP when taking damage. But you can decide what you want to do.

Тактика: спам абилки Buster Sword'а, после Aerial Drain, повторяем (кроме момента со специальной атакой, Crimson's Flare, Ultima). При полоске силы способности используйте Costly Punch, после спамьте Aerial Drain (возможно даже увернётесь от спец атаки). Во время Absolute Ward блокируйте все атаки, дожидайтесь конца бафа.
Чего бояться:
-Crimson's Flare - самая опасная атака, сразу блокируйте её, когда появится возможность. При приземлении есть шанс, что нарвётесь на неё, но она не убивает с одного удара (наносит около 66к урона, что компенсируется Aerial Drain'ом). Потенциально может стакаться с другими атаками.
-Ultima, доджить, когда увидите белые круги.
-Специальная атака, каждый раз, когда у Минервы будет меньше x0кк здоровья (60кк, 50кк и тд) она будет использовать свою стрелу. Ни в коем случае не бездействуйте, когда достигли этого здоровья, но специальной способности нет (умер на 10кк), либо продолжайте атаковать, либо стойте в блоке, выжидайте стрелу.
-Около 50кк здоровья скорость атаки увеличиться в 2 раза.
Бой будет длиться около 30-60 минут
MINERVA HARDMODE GUIDE
Stats and buffs: ATK, SPR, VIT max, AP costs zero, Libra for HP tracking, Endure, Critical, 99k - HP and DMG cap. Buster Sword Perfection - 100%, or else you won't tank 100% DMG from Crimson's Flare.
Equipment: Ziedrich, Genji Glove, Genji Armor, Genji Helm ideally (Laurel Crown possible, then 6'th materia slot - Libra).
Materia: Aerial Drain on HP (200-300%), ATK UP++ MAX, HP UP++ MAX, SPR UP++ MAX, Costly Punch on VIT MAX, 6'th slot you choose (SP Turbo, Libra (if Laurel's Crown), Wall (not very good, because'll be dispelled constantly)). All mastered, Aerial Drain can be 1 star (will master around 50кк HP)
Tactics: spam Buster Sword ability, after Aerial Drain, repeat (except moment with special ability, Crimson's Flare, Ultima). When ability power gauge appears, use Costly Punch, then spam Aerial Drain (it is possible to dodge special attack even). During Absolute Ward block every attack until buff ends.
What to afraid:
-Crimson's Flare - the most dangerous attack, immediately block it, when the opportunity appears. It's a chance to face it after landing, but it doesn't one shot (deals around 66к DMG, that is replenished by Aerial Drain). Could potentially stack with other attacks.
-Ultima, dodge, when white circles appear.
-Special attack, everytime, when Minerva has less than x0кк HP (60кк, 50кк etc.) she'll use her arrow. DO NOT BE INACTIVE, when you reached this HP, but there's no special ability (died at 10кк), continue attacking or block, wait for the arrow.
-Around 50кк HP Minerva's attack speed'll increase in 2 times.
The fight lasts around 30-60 minutes, good luck

I was so confused about how you were able to do 99999 attacks with Assault Twister + and Buster Sword stance.
It's because you have SP Turbo and SP Turbo Attack materias. Those are powerful materias but they aren't worth it in my opinion because they use up so much SP.
I have a mastered SP Master materia and it drained my 7 or 8 million SP to almost zero SP in less than 10 minutes.
They are powerful materia but I don't find them worth having since they drain a lot of SP.

Well, it's the SP Master that drains SP in replace of you TAKING damage. Not SP Turbo. If you notice, I only lost a total of about 168k SP. And of course you can farm that back in like 2 minutes from the Three Stars enemies.

I’ve leveled up Assault twister + but it doesn’t always do all 9’s like yours does in stance change, how do you manage to get all 9’s each time?
Mastered Assault Twister+, ATK stat at 255, buster sword proficiency at least 62% since that is what mine is at in this video. And using at least 2 SP attack materia (SP Turbo or SP Turbo Attack). If you have all these things, then you should be doing all 9's.
Oh yeah....And I also use the Genji Glove. Makes all hits critical so that probably helps too.
How can I make my asult twister plus 99999 damage ? I already equip everything and still just makes a max of 50000 help

Has anyone experienced this during the minerva fight? I had phoenix down applied to avoid game over from judgment arrow but i game over'd even with self res on. Is it a bug or is a limit to how many times you can use phoenix downs during the fight?
Unfortunately, Judgement Arrow takes away your Phoenix down (similar to Flash Slash).

Man.... this is a tough one. I don't get it, though. I've got my attack up to 255 as well as the Genji Glove, I have assault twister+ leveled all the way up, I'm lvl 99 and have all limits broken. My assault twister+ isn't dealing out 99,999 like yours is. I also have my proficiency all the way up, but the most damage I do per hit is 30-60k.
You have to have at least 2 SP materia (either Turbo, or Turbo Attack) to get that max damage
I am using death twister over assault twister+ as I assume the damage is the same, is my assumption correct?
I haven't tried that one on her. But when I'm in battle stance, (and Genji gloves) I crit for 99,999 (x3) almost all the time. But when I'm not in battle stance, Twister+ gives me about 33k + 36k + 56k. So Death Twister might give you more (or less?) damage over Twister+ when not in battle stance. Honestly, at that time I only used Twister+ because it had my "ATK +100" on it lol. I'll have to take a look at Death Twister though!

You're thinking about SP Master when it negates incoming damage. Pretty much empties your SP. But just for attacking, SP Turbo and Turbo attack don't use much. I think this whole fight I only used 208k, but then you get 40k for beating her so about 168k. And you could easily farm that back in like 2 minutes from the Three Stars on 9-5-3.

Looks like just a stats boost. Didn't think i saw it used once there.
I did use it for the few times she applied a buff. For example, Anti-Material at 6:58 and Absolute Ward at 9:22.

From what I remember, beating her on hard is not required for the trophy.
Woah this is unfair, I even needed to have like three or four mastered SP turbo to get about 50k dmg, and needed to pick between Genji Glove or Divine Slayer, essentially picking DPS or endurance. All stats 255 except MAG ofc. I didn't use Genji Shield, but Protect Ring because without it Flash Slash will burn all my 99k HP. Does it do percentage dmg? Because I figured I'd need 99k HP to survive Flash Slash.
Its been a while, but I believe it's a combination of 255 VIT, Genji Shield, Buster Sword Proficiency (about 62% at this time), and using battle stance to guard against the attack. If I didn't do battle stance, then I wouldn't have been able to survive any of her attacks
how do you get your assault twister to do 9999? Mine is maxed as well with 100atk and it doesnt do that dmg. I also have sp turbo maxed.
Double check that your total ATK stat is 255. And remember I'm only doing 99,999 (X3) when I do Assult Twister+ from battle stance. With 2 SP turbos (or turbo attack) you should be doing the same damage. Notice when I'm not in battle stance, the Twister isn't doing 99,999's.

255 vitality, 255 Spirit, protect, shell, and the Buster Sword stance (or block) will reduce her damage to something manageable. If you don't block, her attacks will be in the 30k range. Anything less than perfect vitality/spirit and protect/shell, and she'll be doing 99,999.
DEFINITELY the buster sword guard feature. I never beat it with that either.

Well I was using 2 SP materia in this video. I used about 208k SP for the whole fight which isnt much. But then you get 40k back after beating her so 168k SP net.

Nope, definitely on hard. 77 million HP instead of the 10 million.
Why SP Turbo Attack and SP Turbo?
I needed SP materia to increase damage. I had 100 spirit on Turbo Attack so I used that. Then I just stuck a Turbo in the last spot. The damage output is the same so it could have been 2 Turbos or 2 Turbo Attacks.

Any direct hits would have killed me. So It's a combination of having my defense stats maxed (255 for VIT & SPR). And also blocking in battle stance mode with the buster sword. Hope that helps.
