Hi, the fabric requirement for each cat’s cradle unit is printed right on the ruler. If you are making up your own pattern, you will need to do a couple of quick calculation (total # of squares/rectangles you will need divided by the number of squares/rectangles you can get per strip equals the number of strips you will need to cut. # of strips needed x width of strips equals your yardage). The ruler has a couple of great books and several companion patterns. I love the ease of working with a pattern that has been tested and already has the requirements calculated.
