Dude this hit home. I had a brand new truck (paid off) in the driveway and 30k debt to the IRS. When I got married my wife didn't understand why I hated my truck so much. It was a constant reminder of my poor decisions. I sold the truck back to the dealer, paid off the IRS and got my life under control. That truck, even being paid off yelled at me and told me how stupid I was for buying it. Selling it was my commitment to changing my life around financially
Right on brother!
Can i lose weight without exercise and diet???
Same question
That's what people expect now with these "magic" injectable medications now like Mounjaro and Wegovy. Nevermind the fact that they cost thousands and you have to be on them for the rest of your life if you don't change your lifestyle...but everyone always wants a quick fix, and it's why we have shortages of those medications now.
🤣🤣
Yeah if your rich
@@iati6294if ur poor is ezy
Your saving grace is an income of $150K. You don't have to sell anything, but you have to change your spending habits. No more luxuries until you pay off all debt, then start saving.
Exactly what I thought.
Don’t sell it.
Honestly he shouldn’t sell it cause he will just by it again, lol. Especially because he willl never get what he paid for it. He should just stop spending
Financially he doesn't have to sell anything, but psychologically it would be good to sell some of it so he's not seeing the stuff every day.
@@megalodon1726 If he paid some of it off, he might not mind seeing it.
That lady is gonna come home one day and think they’ve been robbed!! But it was just her husband selling all their stuff on Facebook marketplace 😂😂😂
My husbands newest purchase sitting in front of our house. It yells at me everyday. But it made him so happy. And its paid for.
Lol i like how Dave is making fun of John by throwing his advice right back at him.
Hood Rich 🤑! Got the Porsche but doesn’t have $10 to put in the gas ⛽️ tank!
We've all made stupid choices. Today he is doing things differently 😌
“Got a quarter tank of gassssssss, in my new e classssssssss, but that’s ok , cus I’m stilll flyyyyyyyy” lmao

Don't worry too much about past decisions you made. Sounds like you learned from them. The rear view mirror is smaller than the windshield for a reason. It' s more important to pay attention to what's in front of you than what's behind. Don't let worrying about the past ruin you making a great future.
@2:12 John: I think he could be done by Oct. 1
Caller: Yea!
I think I've been listening to too much Ramsey. I guessed his debt breakdown and income to the exact dollar before he said it.
ALL of us have made these mistakes. It’s ok if we learn from it.
Last year our lives changed a bit after getting into a car accident, got injured from it and our mortgage renewal came up too after interest skyrocketed. It was draining. This year I realized how last year has taught us to live frugally and be humble. Now we're in a much better position and I'm thankful that last year happened.
I’m a single mom making $50,000 a year. I can’t even imagine making over $100,000 and being broke 😮
Lifestyle creep is real. I remember when I made 25k a year. Now I make 7X that and found myself having to REALLY budget so I didn't blow past my income.
@@thejakelegion This is true. I have always lived on 50% of my income one of my life principles. When ever I could not live as I wanted on 50% the only options was to make more money. So that is what I did!
At least 5k of us made $100k or more where I worked.
Broke, paycheck to paycheck, and slave to debt was a common thing with many under a good disguise supported with biweekly paycheck.
Pretty sad though. It’s so affordable and cheap to live there and raise a family. They could have done better financially through the years.
Seems ridiculous to me too. I could maybe understand, if it was a guy dating or married to an expensive girl, and they lived in an expensive place like California. However, then there's a clear mistake with having the relationship, and possibly a mistake with choosing a job in California.
its NOT what you make...its what you spend....
What an eye opener! The thought of all the stuff I bought actually talking to me, telling me that I was smart or foolish at the purchase is going to help so much in the future. What a great conversation!
Totally understand the idea of your “stuff talking to you”. So many things I would buy the last 2 years and I look back and think man I really didn’t need these things in my life right now and if I would’ve put that money towards something useful or something that would make me money I’d be able to have those things I wanted in the first place plus more in the savings. Lifestyle creep is so annoyingly real but you learn🙏
Stuff doesn’t talk to you….YOU talk to you!! YOU have to change the way YOU think and the way YOU talk to yourself.
IT'S ALL JUST STUFF! I don't even sell my STUFF. I just donate it so it can be someone else's STUFF! Alex, you and your wife will feel so much better when you aren't surrounded by STUFF! And when you become DEBT FREE!
And if it's nice leather furniture, I can even take it off his hands.
@@tshandy1 😃
Yeah I'm more of a minimalist.
No clutter anywhere. Only have furniture I actually use.
Homes neat and clean.
Prefer life experiences like travel and other activities/interests over clutter and "stuff".
I gave vintage furniture worth 100's..I'm still in baby step 2. But. Goodwill benefitted immensely. I am free of the stuff. One more year of frugality and I'll be free..Change your words..Change your life
read the title and decided to comment before I watch the video...YES keep doing what your doing but make more money lol..
I was in my late twenties. I didn't have a penny to my name, but I bought a $700 leather coat on a credit card. I thought the coat made me look more handsome and appealing than I was. When I got the coat home and put it on again, it talked to me in a very cruel way. "Who do you think you are? Brad Pitt? LOLOLOLOL!!!" I never liked that coat after that point.
Did you return it?
No. I was too embarrassed to return it because the girl in the shop was really cute and I didn't want to look weak. Can you imagine that? I'd rather be a fool, than look like one. I still have that jacket today (nearly three decades later), and it looks even worse on me now, but it is a reminder of the shame I feel when I spend money like an idiot.
@@tshandy1aww that makes me sad. Nice coat rotting away due to shame. A good lesson, but jez
Bro it might be too late to return it now, but if it happens again the next time, it is better to do so.
I can bet you that admitting your fault and putting down your pride and insecurity will be more attractive in a woman's eye, plus you get the benefit of having a good topic to talk with her and start the ball rolling.
Wasted opportunity, but I know you could do better next time.
Man, 30 years ago $700 is like a couple grand today too.
Yay for Dawn! @TheMinimalMom So much practical wisdom in what she shares and just like what Dave and his team share, there is so much freedom on the other side.
Yes! @MinimalMom is awesome!! She has a video about this concept as "The Silent To Do List." Makes so much sense!
7:06 - That's right John, sell the guitar. 🎸
I bought a 4 wheeler when I turned 50. It still talks to me.
stop caring about what others think of you. worry about what God thinks of you.
Why, he’s a jerk.
yes lets bring god into the mix.
God thinks you look good wearing the Gucci belt
Should I worry about what the Easter Bunny or Thanos thinks of me too?
@@ScottMcRobbie I tend to agree, but to be fair, when you're listening to Ramsey, the prosperity gospel isn't too far behind.
Even after paying off my car, I downgraded and I sold it. I just didn't like having it around, reminding me of the bad decision on getting the loan to get the car.
This was Dave and John at their best.
The most important thing that should be on everyone's mind currently should be to invest in different sources of income that doesn't depend on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in various stocks, Gold, silver and digital currencies. I never imagined that a few thousand dollars per month would add up. However, it is. I've made around $600,000 since 2020.

I don't really understand why people have savings AND credit card debt. Take the savings and pay off the credit card debt. If you have an emergency, put it on the card.
Totally
Yup I was always taught that credit cards are for emergencies
Dave would tell you to have a "plasectomy". Kill the credit card. And you should have 3-6 months emergency fund ... just saying
My stuff talks to me… $42,000 car, my jewelry, $600/$700 bags and I look every day like whyyyyyyyyy??? Happiness and affordability didn’t make me do it, depression did now I’m more depressed.😢
Used furniture isn’t worth anything, don’t sell it, you’ll still have to replace it. Sell the car.
If you want to collect expensive stuff, just do it a few zeros below your means - maybe pocket knives as opposed to boats and airplanes.
Nah. Then you will have the equivalent of a boat sitting in your garage. If you read his book or have been listening to the show a long time you will realize money isn't the issue but the person in the mirror.
Younger people (and people who lack wisdom) need to realize the past is just a story we tell ourselves. It doesn’t exist, outside of your perception and interpretation of it. So let it go, and define yourself as you need to be. It’s that simple.
Buy used stuff. Shiny new stuff will always cost more to replace if it gets damaged or destroyed.
The way this conversation went made me think his wife isn’t involved in the finances or that her finances are separate
John saying to sell his furniture?
He makes enough money to not sell anything.
@Jimmy, are you his accountant?
He said selling it would bring him peace, so what does it matter what he makes?
@@TonyCox1351 No he didn't. He said that because that is what Phil Dunphy wanted to here.

Wow, what an incredible video! No matter the circumstances, it's crucial for everyone to have a burning passion and a clear goal to strive for. Once you have that focus, making choices becomes effortless and enjoyable. Personally, I've witnessed a remarkable transformation in my financial journey. From an ordinary lifestyle to earning over $63k per month, it's truly astounding! By consistently compounding my income through various profitable investments like savings accounts, stocks, bonds, and high-yield dividend funds, I've built a well-diversified portfolio worth seven figures. Thanks to the guidance of financial professional Gregory Thomas Patchak, I've learned to concentrate my efforts and prepare for any financial struggles that come my way. The world of finance is full of opportunities, you just need to stay focused on the right path.
It's truly remarkable to see the impact of having a strong purpose and working towards financial success. Your story is incredibly inspiring and shows the power of making the right choices and focusing on the right things. Gregory Thomas Patchak has clearly played a significant role in your journey, and it's great to hear how working with a financial professional can help prepare for financial struggles. Keep sharing your experiences and motivating others along the way.
It's great to hear that you have had success in the financial market and have a well-diversified portfolio. Gregory Thomas Patchak sounds like a great adviser.
That's truly remarkable! I
would greatly appreciate if you could share some information about your financial advisor. I'm also interested in making positive changes to my finances this year, so any insights would be highly valuable to me.

I paid off my new car and um it hs 26000 miles and I’m just hoping it lasts 3 years more. I’ll be happy
This was a good segment 👍
Buddy needs furniture. Unless you can get what you paid for it it may cost more to replace it. Keep it and call it a lesson.
Glad I don't feel this way. Walking around my house is a constant reminder of how I used to be. Pretty much everything over a few hundred dollars was bought using credit. Glad I don't live that life anymore.
I have a $600 car payment it was such a stupid choice I made. My question is do I sell my car? Some of what I owe is from the vehicle before this one so even a trade in wouldn't get me what I owe😢
Pay as much as you can until it's worth what you owe and sell privately. Never never never trade it in or sell it to a dealership.
If the lifestyle is what led to the debt, then the answer is NO!
My things talk to me and we love each other.
Short answer to the title question - yes, but it will take you longer to get out of debt. Why wait. Life if going to happen. When it does and you are out of debt, it's not a problem. When life happens and you owe people, it's COMPOUNDS the problem.
I felt all of this segment.
I honestly do not understand all this drive to sell stuff and go by cheaper stuff. Just take the stuff you bought, good quality, and never replace it. Keep it. That new car will last 20 years, that high cost furniture should last 20 years. Instead of hating it, let it bring you peace in that you will not have to buy any of it again for years. I would not say you should use this as a justification to buy any new stuff, but, for the stuff you were stupid in the past and bought that you should not have, find peace in it. I do not think there is anything wrong in buying a new car as long as you save for it and pay for it in cash, while leaving all of your Emergency Funds, Retirement and other savings in tact. Spending money is okay, as long as every purchase is made with intention to support your financial goals and those goals should support the life you want to live.
Status Saturday is what we should call this.
Yeah he's married no way any of this is happening.
Dudes out here have tricked themselves into believing that other people truly care what kind of car they drive…meanwhile the people they are trying to impress are too busy worrying about what other people think of them
@@TonyCox1351 Yup the best is when they say everyone has debt.
Yeah, I've got some things in my life that serve as good reminders of when I was stupider. I've got a pinball machine that I bought back when I didn't really have the money to spare. Now I'm glad I have it and have no interest in selling it. But it was a stupid purchase at the time, at least I didn't borrow money for it.
I disagree on selling the furniture. He makes enough to get rid of his credit card debt very quickly. Just focus on that first. Just stay focused on only spending what you need, not what you want until you get yourself together and figure out what is a comfortable way of living. You make enough to get out this mess
They went soft on this caller. They didn't demand that he sell the car nor asked him what he owed on the house.
I get it. But he also has a money problem. You need at least 200k to live well, buy things you want and save.
Yes he can just leave the credit card less then you make
Hey, when will you talk about the real company Cannafarm Ltd that brings profit?
WOW! None of my stuff talks to me. And real estate doesn't talk to me either. Wonder what they are using? lol And I feel no shame for what I own. Why would I do that?
Strange call he doesn't seem to mention he is married at all? Makes you think he is single at least thats the take i get from his tone. He gonna sell his wife's furniture without talking to her? Is she spending? Is SHE on board with this plan?
I wonder how old he is becasue it is really sad that he is 80k in debt instead of 80k saved for his elderly self. People are so happy to be debt free - I get that but do they realize how much compound interest they have missed? Thsese baby step 2 callers reach retirement and complain that they worked their whole lives and where is my government but they leave out how many years or decades they iived beyond their men=ans ie in debt.
I agree. We lived a normal life for two decades. But always contributed 5% or more to our 401k.
oh man all that imaginary interest. do you know if you kept it all in cash during covid you would be ahead 30 to 40% of your colleagues?? most 401k are flat or down because covid times sucked that money right out and you didn't notice.

My guitars talk to me, too. The answer isn't to sell them, it's to keep them in good condition and play them.

The credit cards are stupid af, especially when he could pay them off today. The rest is like not that concerning. Expensive car, but not the end of the world. Modest student debt, probably at a lot rate, that set up his high income. Nothing to freak out about.

The fact that he didn’t mention being married until that late into this conversation tells me he has more marital issues than financial.
Maybe he is so caught up in his shame in this call, that is all he can see.
I love my stuff I don’t feel any shame at all. It’s called having self esteem. I’m not in debt tho.
I feel that there is a subconscious difference in the way you feel about an item based on how you’ve obtained your items. (Ie bought with your own money vs financed).
For example, If you buy a new vehicle in cash…it’s going to feel different to you than if you bought it on the premise that you can afford to finance it and make the payments on it. Of course…there are subtle differences here and there, but that’s been my experience anyways.
