He was never banned from visiting China and still isn't; people are mostly pissed off at Inter Miami and Tatler Asia (the organiser of the Hong Kong event) for scamming fans and conveniently not announcing that he wouldn't play until half-time. Some fans were also upset at Messi's nonchalance despite tens of thousands of adoring fans paying to see him.
