Thank you for posting this friendly compliment about my video and about Ilya's playing ! he'd love to know how many people are watching. I hope he's still checking these comments. Cheers!
I only found that out years after the series came out, when my orchestra actually played the piece. It was so AWESOME! Having all cellos, violins, and violas play together sounded amazing, not to mention the bass. It's such a great song!
Thanks! I wish everybody could see Ilya live, but since they can't, I thought RUclips would be the way to get him some attention and respect. Oh, and he's a nice guy too. Happy 2008!
The fact that hose glasses could make music is already magic in itself. Truly amazing. I would empty my spare change on him for turning that street he plays in into a realm of magical possibilities.
Such a sensitive touch..One of the very best.Truly skilled...Thank you... Feel like traveling? Come to the Santa Monica Mall, Calif. You will make enough to live on for the summer. In a Holiday atmosphere... Impressed.
he totally deserves a premiere to watch all harry potter, + all the books, and a set of high-quality wine glass with clear clean water, and maybe a wine bottle. :D
I tried the wine glasses experiment for the first time yesterday, and pretty soon my dad and I had all our wine glasses out on the kitchen counter with different amounts of water in then... :) I love it; I'm using a wineglass as a key prop in a speech about music and harmonics tomorrow, and I desperately want to build my own setup now!
It's the theme from Siberiade, a Soviet Russian film from 1979. But it's better known as Ressurection by PPK, a classic trance song- one of my favourites of all time :)
if i was walking on the street and saw it i wold just stop to walk and sit all day listen to it and give to this man all money i had in my poket this is just fantastic , and well sorry if my english is bad its not my first language
Hello Sir, It's un believable what llya from Siberia is doing here!!!!! Superbe, wonderful playing, thanks for sharing with us on RUclips, we enjoyed it very much, thanks again. Our best wishes to you and your family, Friendly greetings Chris and Mayka - The Netherlands - Europe - RUclips chrismayka.
@ThePaigePixie you run your finger tip along the edge of the glass making the glass vibrate. the amount of water in the glass determines the pitch because it effects the amount of vibrating the glass does
I know. It's even more impressive when not crammed through cyberspace in compressed MP3 sound quality. Hope you'll hear Ilya live in Copenhagen or Oslo sometime. OH, and tip him. He's a pro.
Aren't you sweet! thank you for writing nice things about my video. A travel show? Cool idea! I want to someday have at least a travel column. I admire travel writers very much, my favorite being Bill Bryson. Thanks for watching my video!
This video was actually made in Oslo! But you are correct. Ilya mostly plays Copenhagen. I am glad he came to Oslo, because I was not in Copenhagen much the years I saw him.
Ilya tunes his harp after about every 3 songs, not because of evaporation per se, but because his fingers have to keep dipping into the glasses to stay moist enough to make the glasses "sing".
@katieew6 WHAT??? did you listen to my interview with Ilya? I interviewed him and made this video.. so how could you not understand that I am amazed by this talent? If you can do it, it's wonderful!
I managed to make the noise with ordinary wine glasses, although I haven't made a glass harp with several glasses, it does sound better with crystal, I found out kind of by accident that I could play it when I dipped my finger in a glass of water and ran my finger around the rim of the glass. It's a bit like a glass violin where your finger is the bow. I don't think everybody can play it though.
OMG THAT PLACE LOOKS LIKE DIAGON ALLEY! HAHA PERFECT SETTING! AMAZING! I LOVE IT! Just watch, someone's gonna slink by in a cloak and look at this guy with a smile xD
@guitarherocarlos Thank you and everyone for your nice comments. I just watched this video again (it's from 2007) and I am STILL amazed by how Ilya was able to reach over and point to the crystal glasses for my camera and get the angle right.. he's smooth. And, brilliant. hehe

Awesome! And 5 years and you've come that far? Nature talent! You're born to do this, spread the Glass Harp more, i just love it!
the sound produced by the glasses give an even more fairytale like atmosphere...i like it a LOT !!
Thanks! I wish everybody could see Ilya live, but since they can't, I thought RUclips would be the way to get him some attention and respect. Oh, and he's a nice guy too. Happy 2008!
I can never stop the amazement I get from watching this performance. It's so great!
The fact that hose glasses could make music is already magic in itself. Truly amazing. I would empty my spare change on him for turning that street he plays in into a realm of magical possibilities.
How does this not have more hits......it's pretty awesome.
This man should have a bucket of money, that's just a fantastic talent, and what a way to utilize it!
Brilliant! :)

Wow, wow, wow! The glass sound fits perfectly to the melody!!
OH. MY. GOD.
I want to find this man and listen to this all day long.
If i saw him doing this, i wouldn't be able to walk past without stopping to watch.
Pure brilliance, sounds so much more magical than the actual song...
Probably the best version of the Harry Potter theme i've ever heard.
he totally deserves a premiere to watch all harry potter, + all the books, and a set of high-quality wine glass with clear clean water, and maybe a wine bottle. :D
great music and very nice editing...like the interview too
This is the kind of eerie sound perfectly matching this theme. Rated 5/5!
This is the most beautiful sound ever!
AMAZING! That suited the magical theme sooo well, I'm mightily impessed, if I saw you busking I'd empty all my money into your hat!

just gets me more excited to see the midnight screening of the half-blood prince
Freaking amazing. Glass harp always astounds me. Awesome!
When he started playing this, my head went so far back in shock that I quadruple-chinned.

oh my goodness! this is amazing! wow! i really cant think of anything to say since im so blown away!
Absolutely gorgeous.
WOW! this melody is truly magic ;D
i saw a glass harp player in prague some years ago, but i did not ask for his name ;) ('bout 5 years ago) ... it's incredible...
It's the theme from Siberiade, a Soviet Russian film from 1979. But it's better known as Ressurection by PPK, a classic trance song- one of my favourites of all time :)
Классное исполнение! Илюха здесь ещё такой молодой! Жаль что он больше не играет на бокалах...
Excellent performance!!!
awesome job! this sound suits the theme perfectly.
That is incredible!!! What an awesome talent!
if i was walking on the street and saw it i wold just stop to walk and sit all day listen to it and give to this man all money i had in my poket this is just fantastic , and well sorry if my english is bad its not my first language

The muggles are gathering around him not because he is there but they could only see the wine glasses playing by themselves.
@ThePaigePixie you run your finger tip along the edge of the glass making the glass vibrate. the amount of water in the glass determines the pitch because it effects the amount of vibrating the glass does
Why somebody dont like this? its bombastic! :D
Awesome gift you have there!

amazing how he plays. thanks for sharing this!!!
I know. It's even more impressive when not crammed through cyberspace in compressed MP3 sound quality. Hope you'll hear Ilya live in Copenhagen or Oslo sometime. OH, and tip him. He's a pro.

This guy should go on Britain Got Talent lool bet he'd win it aswell. Nice HP tune
Incrívell o modo de tocar...Nossa d+ mesmo!!
can't wait for part 2 of HP 7 !
потрясающе завораживающая музыка. Буду ждать обновлений.
Just wonderful! Thanks for this. ;))
Niiiice.
The song is called 'Hedwing's Arrival', and was composed well before the Harry Potter books even came out.
This video was actually made in Oslo! But you are correct. Ilya mostly plays Copenhagen. I am glad he came to Oslo, because I was not in Copenhagen much the years I saw him.
and technically, you can only make this noise on crystal glasses, not just glass...
Ilya tunes his harp after about every 3 songs, not because of evaporation per se, but because his fingers have to keep dipping into the glasses to stay moist enough to make the glasses "sing".
that was awesome,gave me goosebumps.
what the hell this kind of stuff is amasing and you must thinks so to to wach it and comment on on it , this is a cool gift
Universal Orlando needs to hire this guy for there new Harry potter theme park asap!
I just imagined someone running up and breaking the glasses. Then I got sad...
Holy crap! He's got the touch all right...
Bravo ! That was very cool
Siberia is getting pretty fired up.
This is completely entertaining !
He must be using magic 'cause it's so damn magical!
brilliant man you are amazing!
good glasses and hands =D
greetings for portugal
Why is it that street performers are somehow always better than today's professional singers and musicians?
@chrisredfiled123 the sound is dependent on the volume of water in the glass. Just have to "tune" them by ear and remember which glass is which note.
Doesn't seem any more intricate than a piano. I might give this a try if I get the chance :)
It must be really hard to set up the water perfectly, and keep it maintained.
if i ever saw a busker as cool as this i'd be like "TAKE ALL MY MONEY!!!!!"
Now we need one without the background noise
that was freaking awesome!
damn good....keep up the good work man
this kind of made me cry a little
@katieew6 WHAT???
did you listen to my interview with Ilya? I interviewed him and made this video.. so how could you not understand that I am amazed by this talent?
If you can do it, it's wonderful!
I'm telling ya, those people that are juz walking past, are in fact heading home to see it on youtube
Great video !
i love the harry potter theme song! its like the best song everrrr

In Siberia he can practice only half the year. The water is frozen in his instrument.
OMG THAT PLACE LOOKS LIKE DIAGON ALLEY! HAHA PERFECT SETTING!
AMAZING! I LOVE IT! Just watch, someone's gonna slink by in a cloak and look at this guy with a smile xD
If this guy was at a train station, I would probably try to walk into a wall
When I get good, I'll let you know when I release it.
I bet as soon as the sunlight hit those glasses and all the water started evaporating it went all out of tune.
Wish they could incorporate the Harry Potter theme on glass harp in the last Harry Potter movie!!!
AMAZING!
This is Awesome! 4 min performance :-D
@guitarherocarlos Thank you and everyone for your nice comments. I just watched this video again (it's from 2007) and I am STILL amazed by how Ilya was able to reach over and point to the crystal glasses for my camera and get the angle right.. he's smooth. And, brilliant. hehe
Oh my god, this is so wonderful... :')
amazing.. good job!
some people actually thought it was real and ran into the wall at the english train station xD
Parabéns cara! muito bom o que você fez *-* Harry Potter

After the Harry Potter Prologue, he goes into Fur Elise by Ludwig van Beethoven.
