Great Bike I have over 4000 miles and trouble free. At over 220 lb I still get 25 to 30 miles per charge. Top speed is 25 mph on the level. R Griggs Houston Texas

Is it advisable to put some sort of rack over the battery? I really like this bike, but need to be able to transport items with a rack.

You can strap up to about 30 lbs of weight on top, or you can purchase side pannier baskets which attach to the rack...
