    • @BradyIsAfagInHeat

      I think he would whoop some ass in today's era.
      Especially with some of the genius offensive coordinators these days, and how athletic and quick the offensive linemen are.
      He could have so many sweet packages made up for him especially in situational football moments.
      I think he could run more of a chief's/ravens type of gimmick and be very successful at it.
      Kordell was something something special.. Is can't remember who he had as a QB coach and Offensive Coordinator at the time, I.don't think it was the Whiz, but Kordell definitely could have been utilised even better and definitely had a longer more productive career.
      Thanks for the memories KS10!!!!

      No way...not a good qb....

    • @brypete
      @brypete 2 года назад +3

      @@robbie192 kordell was a good QB when he was comfortable. 98-00 the steelers had 3 new offensive coordinators, his #1 wr was charles Johnson and his #2 was Courtney Hawkins, (it wasnt until the 01 season when Ward and Plax was truly the #1 wrs for those steelers fans who act like those were always his weapons). Besides the bus and slash who else did they have on offense? The quick answer in pittsburgh for a struggling team is to bench the QB and thats what happened in kordell case. He was benched every season in favor for Jim miller and kent Graham only to win his spot back everytime . He was also banned from Qb meetings in 99 and told to go back to playing the slash role again, I dont think It would be good for a QBs confidence when you make decisions like that. Again those years were definitely reloading years for the Steelers, does anyone remember Donell woolford or Bo orlando? Cause those guys were starting on defense in the secondary for us. But Kordell took the blame for all of it. Do I think he was a Great QB? No. But do I think he was a good QB with the potential to be a great QB if circumstances were different and the Steelers actually showed that they believed in him instead of benching him to appease the fan base. Yes. Keep in mind (Kordell wasnt the only one having beer poured on him, Cowher and the coaches got it to). Either way he was an amazing athlete and can we please find a way to get Greg Lloyd into the Hall of Fame.

      @RoninGaijin 4 года назад +5

      We lost that game 24-21 and it nearly killed me. That championship was lost because of 3 key mistakes. A missed field goal after Levon Kirkland intercepted John Elway on the first throw of the game and put us in scoring position and 2 of Kordell's 3 interceptions in the end zone by Kordell with Bill Romanowski mocking him. That was the most painful loss ever because it brought back the pain from the 1994-95 championship game loss to the Chargers.

    • @persona-non-grata
      @persona-non-grata 4 года назад +4

      @@RoninGaijin That was what was so frustrating about the mid-90's Steelers. They clearly had the coaching and talent to win (they decisively beat Denver in this game), only to have inconsistent and poor QB play in the playoffs. It shows just how the QB is THE most important position in sports. We didn't right the ship until we got a future HoF'er in Ben.

      Im truly hoping for that to happen. I've always hated how in the past few years when we've got a narrow lead and instead of just sticking with the momentum and finishing out the game. We go into bullshit play picking to run out the clock and not only not get first down to run it out but go backwards instead and give them great field advantage and put all pressure on an unreliable group of DB's at the time and end up losing. Our Defense is really clicking with Minka out there with his TP like presence and Big Ben fully healthy with a year plus off of bumps and bruises and what not.

    Kordell could have been great but basically every year he had a new OC and after Thigpen left his first yr as a starter he had pretty weak WR rooms, aside from a very young Hines later on. I think Thigpen leaving and then the troy Edwards draft bust cost the Steelers some deep playoff runs. He was better than Lamar in the pocket and not nearly as injury prone.

      Lost to the same team in the AFC championship, though, and he did not play particularly well.
      I’m no Kordell hater. He was better than a lot of people seem to remember and certainly had talent and athletic ability. I thought he was the victim of some unfair criticism at times as well. He even gave off the impression of being a decent guy. That being said, he just wasn’t quite good enough and/or consist enough to win a Super Bowl.
      I like his comment at the end, btw:”Sorry we beat the Broncos, but, hey, we had to do it.”

  • @Biggdoom344

    He was an enigma. He would play like this then another game go 9-22 for 88 yards. I do believe if Chan Gailey had stayed he would have had a much better career. Things kinda went down after Chan left. But man he had talent. Cannon arm, ran a 4.4. He was more talented than Lamar Jackson or Russel Wilson of today

    If Stewart only could've done this about a month later against the Broncos in the AFC Championship game, but 3 interceptions did him in. Although to be fair, the Broncos were a very good 12-4 wildcard team with the likes of John Elway, Terrell Davis, and company.
