ARTICLE 44 (Uniform Civil code)

It mandates that the State shall endeavor to secure for the citizens a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) throughout the territory of India. The primary goal of the UCC is to replace personal laws based on the scriptures and customs of various religious communities with a common set of laws governing marriage, divorce, maintenance ,adoption ,succession and inheritance.
