How do you like it? I’m really thinking about getting the race edition. They are offering $1,000 usd off so that would be good considering I want the CF wheels.
I'm *really* interested in light electric dirt bikes/dual sports. Full street electric bikes I dunno if they'll ever sort out range issues enough for me. But light commute and trails? Yeah. I don't need huge range there, particularly if I can just haul it out to where I want to ride easily. Edit: 138 lbs. Wow. That's way lighter than I expected. Awesome.
Glad to see you're wearing full gear. I don't understand people not wearing gear on these things when they ride in the same traffic as motorcycles. Some of these go 60mph and a tiny bicycle helmet isn't going to help at all.
I wear full gear on my eScooter for this exact reason - any speed above jogging speed is potentially lethal, and even if you're putting along at 7 mph, a car hitting you will kill you outright.
Appreciate the disclosure as always. Also, hello?! Just gave you that?! They must like you a lot! 😆 That's awesome! 💯 Happy for you! bet you can have a lot of fun on this. Wouldn't mind receiving that either so generous and yet mind blowing as well. Since it is not super cheap and you can find a lot of nice used motorcycles and used cars for that matter for the pricing it is. Yet having the features it has, it ain't overprice in my opinion. Also really like the looks of it. Looks hella awesome! The carbon + metal reinforcements where needed seems so legit. Curious how it will hold up. But the biggest up being: road legal approved. Sick! But also having the Supermoto tires option, sick! That for sure will dampen all the Supermoto needs for riding or bopping around in town etc. 😆
First of all… I just turned 70 in March…😳 I have been riding motorcycles since I was 10 or 12 years old , my grandparents live next-door to a British bike shop , both of my parents rode motorcycles every day to work and back ..! I purchased a 250 hawk new in 2020 , Right off the Bat, I put a 17 Tooth Drive sprocket on the motor, ( for better top end! ) A good Glass gel battery, and a high-quality chain…! On the back rack, I’m mounted a plastic 30 carbine plastic ammo box, that acts like a little trunk..😍👍🏻 I have over 5000 miles on it now, I have changed the oil more often than I need to only because I want the motor to last along time…! I don’t take it trail riding , I could..! But it looks so nice. I didn’t purchase it for that…. 🙄 I have two other motorcycles. My Harley is so big., when I want to run to the store, I hop on the HAWK and away I go ….!!! my Harley is a carbureted 93, it runs great and looks fantastic. I purchased it new in 93…! But by the time my Harley warms up , I can go to the store and be back home if I take my nimble HAWK…👍🏻 I have over 5000 miles on it, most of those are just road miles. I have gone on a couple mild access roads along the railroad tracks exploring in the country side “ quite often in fact” It seems like the only people that really dislike these motorcycles, are the people who overpaid for the same thing because it says Honda or Yamaha on the side…! ( by the way, I put Honda parts on my hawk if I need them..! ) I paid $1450 for my bike delivered to my door…!
Surron not street legal? Doesn't seem to bother any of the tweens riding them on the streets around here. Kudos to Eclipse for making one that those of age can ride legally.
Spite, I would love to see what mods you are able to do to this. Mine is supposed to be arriving today, and with no real aftermarket support I'm really interested in what you come up with. Especially with the deadzone throttle, among other things, to make it feel and ride better.
Luggage rack option? could it muster light weight pillion for short trips? Real world max distance test? What kind of cells is the battery pack using? Can you get spares for all the major stuff (especially electrical)? What is the waterproof rating for it, could it live outside? and most importantly, can it wheelie? :D Looks great fun. This would make an excellent Van life hitch mount RV toy for running groceries and exploring the back country trails.

I never would've considered this... But this is the second video from a reputable source. Thanks Spite. Time to lighten the wallet and it's all your fault
I was all about it until I saw the price tag..... With the money you save, you can upgrade a Surron to be quite a bit faster, and making them street legal is not a big deal in most states. but for the rowdier off-road crowd, it's a tough sell imo. I could see this thing flying in Europe where owning a vehicle is extremely expensive and there's many tight little roads. Here in the states, well hey, I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see a big market for it.
As somebody who rides beach cruisers down dirt trails for fun., I would buy one of these in a second... IF they made them with bigger wheels! I'll bite when they make a 26 inch fat tire version of this, until then I'll just keep searching for an affordable hub motor kit I can actually trust with my life
I wish they leaned into the motorcycle aspect of it a little more. I'm happy it's small, but normal motorcycle bar clamps and the like would be nice. Also are those tires small or is it my eyes? I think they would do well to create a platform that is easily modified with motorcycle parts. Like the brakes, foot pegs, levers, stuff like that. Additionally, if they could release some cad files, so people could easily make their own parts for it, that would greatly improve its "mod-ability" and thus increase its popularity. People love modding their bikes, and this would draw a lot of attention. The fact that it's road-legal is HUGE, and I'm happy they went through the work to get that done. The website also looks like a scammy Chinese site that I wouldn't want to spend my money on. They DESPERATELY need to fix that website. The first pictures you see are very poorly rendered and makes it look like a fake product. The website screams SCAM. I'm sure it's not, but it doesn't look that way. Spite: I would like to see what kind of components are on this bike, and how they are attached. Could you easily upgrade the brakes? What size wheels and tires could you squeeze in there? What size is the bar? What size are the bolts that hold on the bar clamps/could you install an aftermarket set? Could you install better suspension? How big are the fork tubes? Essentially, how customizable is the bike? How easily is it to attach aftermarket parts? I'm really interested in seeing if you can put on better/bigger brakes. Also, is there a foot brake or are they both hand brakes? (sorry if you mentioned that, and I wasn't paying attention). Can you buy batteries for this bike? How much do they cost? I'd like to see the software, too, and how much modification is available there. SOLAR: Please fix that website. It's atrocious and looks scammy. Get rid of those rendered photos, they make the product look fake or like you haven't made any yet. The photo pointing out all the parts of the bike needs to be a real photo or a higher quality render. The only render that is acceptable is the one showcasing the luggage. There are no real shots of the luggage, though, which makes me think you haven't manufactured any yet. It's hard to see the quality, which is something I care about if I'm spending $600 on them (which is kind of expensive for luggage that small, but a fair price from a small company). All in all, it looks like a great product, but the website does not represent it well. Also, I would like to see a foot-pedal option for the rear brake. Sorry that this comment is so long, I am just opinionated and really like the idea of this bike succeeding. I really might have to get one if they get more coverage and I see more of them on RUclips.
@@spitescorner the throttle I replaced it with an aftermarket one, by Domino, but I had to open up the new throttle to turn the potentiometer a little, because it was showing a throttle error. Once I did that in the app I lowered the throttle voltage and it was more responsive no dead spot. On the stock throttle if you try to lower it only goes so much still has dead spots.
I'd be interested to know exactly what you did. I tried messing with the throttle and the deadzones are a little annoying. So you replaced the tube and did something with the pot in the throttle?
Looks like a lot of fun.... a bit steep on pricing for me when you compare it to the Hawk 250.... I will watch more content with this E bike thingy even though it is sponsored content. also I would like to point out... YOU CANNOT UNSEE A VMAX SIR.
Yeah, there aren't many bikes that can compete with the Hawk in terms of price, but it's worth pointing out that almost everything on the Solar is higher quality. It'll make for an interesting head to head
Erica 800 mountain bike with a 1000 watt motor and I thought I'd hate this thing but I love it I watch you all the time I'm going to start calling you flash Gordon and now my son is laughing his ass off
Speaking of plating it... Does the bike come with an MCO? I'm curious if TX knows about the manufacturer to allow you to register it and could you find insurance that knows enough about the bike to insure it.
Hey Spite. Big fan of the channel. I was wondering if you were aware about the Chinese company Betavolt, developing Nuclear batteries the size of mobile phone batteries. This could have massive implications for Motorbiking, because if it works as they describe, then we could have an emergance of Electric vehicles that last 50 years without ever needing a charge. This could be the thing that pushes motorcycling to start shifting to Electric.
I think you have been getting your info from someone more interested in getting ad impressions that delivering factual information. Wired has a run down on that battery and it's not suitable for a phone much less a vehicle. It puts out a very very small amount of power. Like you couldn't run a smoke detector off it it's so little power.
@mgkleym It's been something I've been doing my own research on. You do realise that the tech is in the early stages. We won't expect to see it happening till at least 2050. I think you're just trying to ignore that in order to act like electric won't eventually be the next major vehicle power type over gas.
@mgkleym And people thought Electric cars wouldn't be where they are, or we'd never put a man on the moon, or computers would never be as popular as they are now or developed to where they are now. People used to think computers would always be gigantic things which were only afforded by the rich, and now you have a computer in the palm of your hands that you call a smart phone. There's a lot we thought thought we'd never do, but do now. In your own private life, how much did you think, or someone you know think something never would have been achieved, but did eventually happen. It's only matter of time before Technology surpasses the limitations of our minds.
Ill be getting one soon to mount a custom Bac-8000 Greenline Engineering Esc & 120mm 40kw liquid cooled Inrunner with 200kv or rpm,s per volt for top end my friend ✌
I own a very similar version bc this platform was originally designed by Denzel before it was... resurrected? It's a fantastic bike for what it is. It's not a surron. It's less torque and more smooth ride than the wheelie machine surron. That being said it did everything a surron could including jump dirt ramps. Not just stock surrons either, 72 volt 12000+ watt upgraded surrons. Well I suppose it couldn't wheely as well. Really needs quickcharger compatibility and an 80 ah battery to really shine outside of being a ideal commuter with a wild side.
I don't understand why all these e-bike companies take so many styling cues from Motocross bikes but they never use rear suspension linkage. Until I see that I won't spend a dime on one of these bikes. But I like them for many other reasons. But that's a deal breaker for me
off chance how much do you weigh? you and i look similar in height and weight and ive been thinking of using this as a daily commuter to work and back home (16.6) miles but i just needed to know well the battery holds cool channel btw!!
Don't like the rear brake cable running under the bash plate. Longevity of carbon fiber under constant torque gives me pause as well. Regen is good for saving brake pads more so than actually increasing range. Not a fan of the motor being so exposed when riding off road.
I think the spark varg or whatever it's called is pretty much better than the suron. They've sat on their haunches and now we have better alternatives.
Assuming I'm decoding the VIN correctly, it's made in Hong Kong (R2 are the first two characters of the VIN). L is the country code for mainland China. Though the company is based in the UK.

So you replaced the tube and did something with the pot in the throttle?
sounds great looking forward to more on this bike also how do you derestrict it and whats the app like
Im going to buy one to Cross tge border
Looks like a lot of fun.... a bit steep on pricing for me when you compare it to the Hawk 250.... I agree about that comparison being appropriate and I would like to see a more direct head to head comparison of the 2.
Looks like that front brake line needs to be routed behind the headlight.
Spite, ever thought of doing a video on EV tax credits? Might knock the price off the MSRP for people looking into these e it electric cycles
I'm sure it's fun but from just watching it, I can't do it. I need engine noises 😂
I’m sure the front brake has improved by now, hasn’t it? It takes a minute with a new bike….. even with awesome brakes.
Interesting .. what happened to that carbon-fiber submarine?
great content!
here in Poland we can buy street legal and not legal versions of the surron. I dont like the engine being part of the swing arm.
who makes them
Solar is based in the EU, and I believe the bikes themselves are made in Hong Kong
Is it possible to add passenger pegs on this thing? And will it even be viable, taking on a passenger? Nice review btw. Love it!
it has a vin , does it come with a certificate of origin for the dmv?
@@Big_Tyrone138 This will never replace chemical batteries outside of very specialized devices. They also aren't new they date back to the 70s.
If your offroading then the bigger wheels are the better choice for ground clearance. Does it have a skid plate?
maybe don't completely mute the sound the motor and chain drive make so people can hear it
Nothing filled out a personal app
Anybody know what the Denzel Samurai is like in comparison? Apparently they are almost the same bike.
Does it have USB port to charge your phone?
you can get one as an accessory
@@alwsquestion Thanks! I ended up installing a quadlock 12v wireless charger.
cool bike. Does it come in adult size?
Also, it's so odd to not be able to hear the revs while you're talking through the helmet speaker, haha.
WFT was that rear shock bolt mount into? bolt through mount with no bearings?
Ill be getting one soon to mount a custom Bac-8000 Greenline Engineering Esc & 120mm 40kw liquid cooled Inrunner with 200kv or rpm,s per volt for top end my friend ✌
How much lighter is it than a Surron?
What chemistry has the accumulator?
I own a very similar version bc this platform was originally designed by Denzel before it was... resurrected? It's a fantastic bike for what it is. It's not a surron. It's less torque and more smooth ride than the wheelie machine surron. That being said it did everything a surron could including jump dirt ramps. Not just stock surrons either, 72 volt 12000+ watt upgraded surrons. Well I suppose it couldn't wheely as well. Really needs quickcharger compatibility and an 80 ah battery to really shine outside of being a ideal commuter with a wild side.
Thank you! First day out today on my ver2???how to I change to MPH? Do I need to buy something to access controller? Thank Again.
Can you swap the chain to be belt driven? Thanks!
Rections!!! I got their Rections right here!!!
Can somebody tell me what the app is on the android phone so I can set my bike up thanks
How much?
I don't understand why all these e-bike companies take so many styling cues from Motocross bikes but they never use rear suspension linkage. Until I see that I won't spend a dime on one of these bikes. But I like them for many other reasons. But that's a deal breaker for me
Sweet!
off chance how much do you weigh? you and i look similar in height and weight and ive been thinking of using this as a daily commuter to work and back home (16.6) miles but i just needed to know well the battery holds cool channel btw!!
The light bee can be bought as street legal in Europe
Dude you did not use a pair of vice grips to pull on that front axle no way
Did Solar admit to fixing any of your noted issues?
Don't like the rear brake cable running under the bash plate. Longevity of carbon fiber under constant torque gives me pause as well. Regen is good for saving brake pads more so than actually increasing range. Not a fan of the motor being so exposed when riding off road.
I think at this price point, you should check out the Stark Vark, or the KTM free ride
Do you need a license to just ride it to work on a 45 mph limit street
2" Rox Risers from the motorcycle world to fix the handlebar issue.
I think the spark varg or whatever it's called is pretty much better than the suron.
They've sat on their haunches and now we have better alternatives.
It's really cool... for a gift. If one has to actually pay six grand, there are sooooo many better choices.
Where is this bike made?
Assuming I'm decoding the VIN correctly, it's made in Hong Kong (R2 are the first two characters of the VIN). L is the country code for mainland China. Though the company is based in the UK.
