Most expensive sea kayak you will ever buy: First look, great boat, great design and build, not the first portable sea kayak. Best wishes.

Aren’t the surfaces of the joints going to wear over time increasing the amount of movement between sections?

Any Valley kayaks come with 3 pieces option. $6+K new. Pack the boat in 2 bags (center and bow+stern). Stuff with gear. Pay overweight (up to 100lb) +oversize. Done multiple times to Alaska. 5 pieces is too much given the extra bulkheads weight. You can also cut your used carbon/kevlar boat of choice and install 4 bulkheads. Done that. 2.5K for the boat and $500 in materials.

52 lb. 😮 Heavy but light considering the construction and design. Like double bulkhead at each joint and more because of horizontal part of bulkhead or joint.

    Sand in between jointed section?
No sand but you wiped off pin before installing?

To get the structural integrity this boat has yes the joints do need to be nice and clean (sand free) during assembly

What about the nearly indestructible Petrel Play made by TPBW, which made as a composite (with carbon innegra) weighs less than 40 pounds and costs about 5K or 6K. Sorry, but in my opinion, there is no comparison.

Would have been great if the camera actually focused on the boat, not the designer.

Take it onboard a plane not happening. You'll be charged but good for rich traveling expert kayakers.

Its been on lots of planes already, Steve flew with it from the UK to NZ. Just standard oversize luggage. I have done the same with my mountain bike lots.
It is a certain market for sure but this is the first time a kayak that experts are happy with can be travelled with easily

37 minutes of talking, not one minute of paddling. I guess that’ll come later.

This video accurately shows the huge ego of the designer.
