I was at the 2020 Winter Classic, and it was the coolest experience I’ve had. From the National Anthem, to the goal right after the whole crowd singing All the Small Things, and the 4 straight goals to win 4-2. It was so awesome. Even before the game actually started they had some of the rides on the fair ground operating

It was the highest attended Winter Classic up to that point, I don’t know if it’s been beaten yet
It also had a unique feel with all the Preds fans that drove in. It was like a college football or Euro soccer game where they have a chunk of the stadium reserved for visitors.
I was at the 2020 Winter Classic too! The best past about it being at The Cotton Bowl Stadium was that it was easy to access(took the train to the game) and there are NO BAD SEATS at the Cotton Bowl.
I was at the Detroit vs Toronto game in Michigan Stadium. As a fan of both the wings and the wolverines (I’m from Ann Arbor) it still blows me away how massive that stadium is and the atmosphere that was created there for a hockey game. Walking up to it, you’ll be surprised at how big it looks but it doesn’t look ‘THAT’ big like you see in photos. It isn’t until you walk through the tunnel from the concourse into the stadium itself, that you realize ~70% of the stadium is actually under ground level! What a great game and setup that was with the snow falling and the clash of red vs blue. I think those winter classic jerseys were phenomenal as well and easily the best alternate red wings jersey they’ve made.
I remember watching it on TV. Still in Ontario at the time. I remember it snowing like crazy. My friend Todd was playing for Toronto in one of the Alumni games. And my nephew played Hockey at Michigan from 1993-1997
I was at the 2014 winter classic, there was more than “some snow fall” it was a borderline blizzard
I was at a hockey tournament staying in downtown Detroit, our school bus there was 2 and a half hours due to the snow and traffic, and the game itself was an amazing experience with my father at the age of 9. Being a Detroit fan from Toronto and being able to be with (mostly) Detroit fans will forever be engraved in my brain, I'll never forget that

I was in literally the last row on the upper part of the Cotton Bowl in 2020 and I could see the game very well, it honestly felt the same in terms of visibility as nose bleed seats in a regular arena.
"Some snow" at the 2014 WC? That's an understatement. I was 13 rows up around the Leaf's blue line, and had 6" of snow on my shoulders by the end. They had to shovel snow constantly and it was wild watching the puck just stop due to the snow. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Great view, great environment, great game (even though my wings lost in a SO as was the trend that year). It will be very difficult to top 2014.
That was crazy weather. I watched that one on TV. Fan of the Wings at the time. And my friend Todd is a Alumni of the Leafs and was playing in the early games
I was at the 2010 world cup opening game. It was the world record attendance at this time, I think somewhere about 80k. Fans were insane but I can't stress enough how little we could actually see.
I sat in the outfield at the 2015 classic in DC. Kinda hard to see the rink from there, but it still was a great experience

Football stadiums are cool, but when the games are played in baseball stadiums they need to build the rink closer to the stands imho.
A good buddy and I went to the Blues vs WIld winter classic, excluding the bitter cold and your beer freezing in 10 minutes it was an amazing experience. It was also very cool to see the little kids and the 40 year old beer leaguers get to play on the mini rinks as well
Definitely should do stadium series after the canes & caps play. Allegedly, Carter-Finley stadium has the tightest bowl in American football so it will probably have the best views
It's true, the sightlines are perfect for hockey. For a lot of these stadiums, the seating starts so far away from the field proper that you feel like the rink is super far away. Carter Finley does not have that problem
You forgot to mention coldest outdoor nhl game for 2022. Was sipping on beer slushies lol
I work at BC Place here in Vancouver BC Canada. And we hosted the Heritage Classic. And unfortunately it was pissing down rain that day. So we had our Retractable roof closed the whole time as it would have killed the ice. Which was a worry in Seattle as well on New Years. But thankful it didn’t
I was at Fenway yesterday for my second WC, first was 2019 at Notre Dame. I honestly liked Notre Dame better, they did a great job with the decorating out there, and it really helps when the ice is centered in the field. They didn't center the ice at Fenway, I don't understand why they don't and I found myself looking at the TV a lot too see the puck yesterday. Cool experience seeing a hockey game in a storied place like Fenway, but I prefer football stadiums more personally. These games don't feel as special inside ballparks
I was at the one in ND and it was a disaster. Lines for food and beer were outrageously long. Same with merch. Ran out of food and beer pretty quick in most locations. They also had to put a bunch of portapots in the concourse. It was a massive disappointment.
Went to the first ever AHL outdoor game and it was a cluster fuck lol. There was a couple right in front of me and dad that refused to sit the entire game. People started throwing beers at them. Needless to say it was in Syracuse at the fairgrounds. Not born but raised there, not very proud of it😂

I'm waiting for the day they bring it to the coliseum. I know going south goes against everything you've trying to achieve, but imagine the kings in the coliseum. That would be great tv.

It’s the front office, but alot of the decision is based on which teams Will bring in the most viewership because it’s very expensive to set up events like this

As someone who went to the winter classic in st.louis the only thing I remember about it is how everything was just wet and rainy lol
I was there as well and it was one of the highlights of my time as a St. Louis sports fan but the 2019 cup still takes the cake as my favorite sports moment though.

@@trystonshuls7069 I went to a couple watch parties as well during the cup run and was downtown for the cup clinching game and the city absolutely lost its mind and was maybe the best night of my life up until now, certainly the only time my boss was as hungover as everyone else the next day at work which was hilarious.

You missed Ottawa when they had a Winter Classic, it was the first time for Ottawa and the Ottawa Senators, it happened on December 16, 2017, Ottawa Senators face Montreal Canadians, I have the puck stating it

I had to rewind like ten times - I was like “did he say ‘twenty thousand-twenty three’” cause apparently the OILERS are facing the FLAMES later this year in October - which would be “two thousand twenty-three” but there was a game against the CANADIENS in “two thousand three”

That’s one of the downsides of any outdoor game is the fact someone is always going to be sitting far away from the rink

So why does the Cotton Bowl game count but like the Herritage classic doesn’t, that seemed odd to me that that one counted as Winter classic but others didn’t
